Theon could still remember the first time he was on the battlefield. In the later stages of the Campaign for Hadar, he found himself defending the lands of one of his father's good allies and one of the Great Houses in Hadar, Novorra.
Theon stepped off his ship, followed by other fellow soldiers dressed in blue and gold. Silvanus walked up next to him.
Another man approached the two boys.
"Greetings." The man said, letting his hand out for a shake.
"Its an honor, sir. You must be King Barre?" Theon said, gripping his hand, giving him a firm shake.
The King nodded, "Yes, and you must be Theon!" He chuckled, "You look just like your father!"
The two chuckled and marched off to the front lines to fight the first of many battles in the region.
While Theon was on his tour in Novorra, he met a young noblewoman named Lady Devereux, an ambassador to Novorra. The two became great friends and were often conversing together in Novorra's local tavern.
"So, you're going home, huh?" Anastasia asked.
"Yes, I have to return home to Inquisitor's Bay, fathers getting married."
"Wonderful, tell him I said congratulations. I hope to see you again, Theon."
That was the last time Theon saw Lady Devereux until after the fall of Insani.
A carriage rolled up to the newly established Essalonia colony, a young lady and two guards disembarked and headed into the the castle.
Theon was speaking to a guard in the grand hall when Lady Devereux walked in through the doors.
Theon looked over to her, "Lady Devereux?..."
"Hello, Theon, It's nice to see you again."
"Likewise, what has brought you here?"
"I come fleeing from Novorra, I have been stripped of my title as Duchess and have been banished."
Theon frowned, "Well... You're welcome to stay here for as long as you wish."
Anastasia smiled, "Thank you, and I must warn you, the people of Novorra do not take kindly to the Kingdom of Insani, especially they've said many foolish things which I know are not true."
This angered Theon, after so many years of being in a tight alliance with Novorra and his father being close with their leader, he has been betrayed.
Theon and Anastasia went to his office to work on a declaration of war, writing on parchment:
DECLARATION OF WAR
The men and women of Insani stand united and disgusted by the acts of the Kingdom of Novorra.
With sword in hand, we strive to right the unjust cruelty brought to our own Lady Devereux and to avenge the fallen warriors of Insani who have died in the defense of Novorra so that their deaths would not be in vain, as we have never intended to help Novorra or create strong relationships with those of Novorra so that they may slander us behind our turned backs.
