Design of my character, Kaphiri Ahnzasir, a desert Thylan. I'm really happy with the way this turned out and definitely will be doing more like it, most likely actual humans or similar next time! You're free to check out some of my other stuff at vixikats.deviantart.com.

A lovely speedpaint I did a few weeks back. I liked the design of the character, but only reminds me how god-awful I am at drawing backgrounds...

I was using Photoshop CS6 for all of my art, but recently I made the decision to switch to PaintTool SAI for doing lineart and then just coloring in Photoshop. I think it gives far better results with much less effort.

Amazing drawings. Will you be opening a commissions shop at some point? I'd be interested in buying some for regals. @Vixikats

Well, I do have a record for USD prices here but I currently don't have an equation to Regals at the moment. I see some of the prices listed on the market, but I'm actually doing art as a living right now, so it's generally a lot more expensive in comparison to other hobbyists on the forums.

Speaking of art as a living, the best thing in the universe is when haters try to tell you that you're wasting your time. I love it.

Ah, I see. I wish you the best of luck with your career.

My interpretation on the Thylan.

Basically, this design centers around extremely spiritual and eclectic culture. Having Faraddi roots, I wanted to keep designs and jewelry found in Egyptian culture that they're based from, hence the bands with the bright golds and blues. Another mixture I added was a cross between both European Pagan as well as Native American forms of shamanism with the feathers and owl skull on the necklace, as well as possibly an ornate leather shroud as a symbol of status.

This particular design was what I thought a proper Thylan Shaman would look like.

So, more or less after some notes from different people, I decided to take the semi-realistic design and make it even closer to an actual wolf. Honestly, even as just a sketch, I absolutely love this design for a Thylan and will be adjusting my character accordingly once it's finished.

You've probably already seen it in my Livestream thread. If not, that's cool. Here's the design for my new main character, Katarina von Carstein, my more traditional version of a true vampire as a noble aristocrat and not a sewer-dwelling monster.

I may also start doing commissions for characters artwork and minecraft skins in tandem as well.

Just finished editing and uploading the commission stream from the other night as a speedpaint!~ I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did making it!

As a lover of our vampire Lore and supporter of exploring their RP potential somewhere other than the sewers, I have to say that I adore this. Keep it up!

@Plecy
I admit that I haven't seen hardly any decent vampire RP since joining the server. Most people seem to want to go for the more gloomy "night scourge" type of vampires who are open about themselves and crassly attack people in dark street alleys. I just figured that maybe by reintroducing the classical Bram Stoker vampire, it could help set a precedence in shifting the paradigm away from vampires as monsters in the literal shadows and more of vampires as recognizable and charismatic leaders in their communities, more suited to advance their own sinister agendas in politics and nobility rather than terrorizing commoners in the streets.

@Vixikats
It's disturbing how much I agree with what you've written there. But I'll resist the urge to clutter up your art thread with vampire discussion. Keep doing what you're doing and don't be afraid to ask Lore staff for help if you get stuck, because we seriously need more outside the box thinking like this. Much as I'd love to rewrite all of our vampire lore into something Ć  la Vampire: The Masquerade, we've sadly got to just work with the stereotypes that have forms. Keep it uuuup!

Blood Elf Mage that I just finished tonight!~ Celebrating my return to the community.

Just a quick sketch yesterday for a private tutor character I plan on making for a noble family!

Drawing some frames to get some ideas for an upcoming webcomic.
Shing (left) and Pingyang (right) duke it out to the death. Both are Pandaren characters on Emerald Dream-Alliance in World of Warcraft. The webcomic is likely going to revolve around our guild, The Orchid Hollow, and will be in a very similar style as this.

This particular illustration is only roughly valued and the first time I've actually tried something in this style. I really like it, though!

@Devoruku @Terisary
Sadly, no.
I've been staying away from taking on art as work simply because it always diminishes the value I get out of it. It's the capital reason why I haven't been taking any commissions.
Plus, with my own passion projects, going on, there's no way I could foreseeably handle any other obligations on top of them. At least with passion projects I can step away when I get exhausted and just come back later. That isn't really plausible with commission work.

Now, if you wanted help with simple things like character designs, I could always sketch up a few rough thumbnails so you have a better idea of the characters and styles you're going for if/when you do find an artist willing to take on a project like that.

A few features were really roughly sketched and not caught until the very end, so there will be plenty of things that look out of whack, but overall it's a decent piece.

It's a Steven Universe Gem OC (Alabaster) for a friend. She drew the original concept and I made a few tweeks and sketched it for her. Tried a new coloring technique that I wasn't as happy with, but that's all part of the learning process!

Another Blood Elf, but this one I did more work on the proportions and I really, really love how this one turned out. Check out KNKL on YouTube, he's a really inspiring artist.

I see so many artists get discouraged because their art is either too sketchy or doesn't look right.
yvT3Q7d.png

It might have okay-ish proportions but doesn't feel right and doesn't feel anywhere close to done.

I just want you guys to know that this is still where I start sketching. Looks like ass, eyes are offset and look dead and the lines and coloring are nasty and slapped on.

Never get to this point and think you're a bad artist just because your in-progress looks bad. My sketches are cringe worthy, but if you give it some time, learn from really amazing artists and take inspiration from everywhere.

mUl42wS.png

You can start turning your ugly sketches into something more finished looking.

P.S. This is the first time I've ever painted anything. I've taken leaps and bounds from watching art tutorials from people who's art style I adore. I used to be terrified of painting, thinking I'd just make something ugly and disjointed, but with a little coaching, I managed to get over that fear and now have a new found confidence in my artwork once again!

This particular character actually has a name, Hadeki Gosu, Former Deputy Director of Information Security for Synopsis Labs, turned rogue decker in 2075. This is a Shadowrun character of mine and I think the image goes with his idea so well.

Going back to my anime-inspired roots for a moment, I decided to work on something in the event that a particular anime convention near me is hosting an art contest. It has to use their mascots and fit the theme, which since this is their 7th year, the theme is "Lucky 7". The grand prize winner gets their print as the front page of the anime convention for the year, a FREE Artist Alley table and a boat load of goodies, so needless to say, I'm pretty keen on winning it (and I've looked at previous submissions over the years and I think it'll be a clean sweep, no offense to the other artists)

Obviously my only choice to do was a debonair casino motif which I think I pull off rather nicely in the line art. Here's the timelapse video of the line art and I'll be sure to post the entire print when it's finished!

PS. I DID NOT just draw that rose like a monster. I had some rose references pulled up on my other monitor. Because real artists use references! (jk)

WOW, WHERE THE HECK HAVE I BEEN?

I guess almost a year of not even interacting with the community's caught up with me. I've played a bit here and there, but haven't really had the gumption to return full-time.

Anyways, here's more art that I've been working on!

Taiya, the Fifth Hand
A monk character that I drew last year practicing some painting styles.

Some rather risque elves I did as a commission for a guild mate in World of Warcraft. Yes, that is a Night Elf Paladin. Yes I'm aware they can't be Paladins. Art is thankfully limited only by your imagination, however.

I have been busy with things other than freelance commissions, however!

I've been working with the wonderful developers of Cache Grab Studios on their project, Super Powered Battle Friends, doing character splash arts for the in-game select screen! This is one of the characters, Luna. She's my favorite. ;)

Ooo. It looks good! I've noticed the slight change in your art style and you've really improved. Keep up the good art work.

More splash arts for Super Powered Battle Friends!

Also working on other themes as well. I'm surprised I haven't done anything Star Wars related before, but here's some I worked on recently.

And lastly, since I've been working on developing myself as an artist more. The painting I posted in this thread was my first ever experimentation into painting and since then I've really tried to develop myself as an artist better. So I did what any good artist does and practiced with a study! And since I'd just seen Infinity War, what better study than the Mad Titan himself?

That's my art dump for today!~

I'm working on a new character to begin roleplaying with again! Incoming my own artist character soon!

Introducing the illustration of a character I'm currently in the process of writing! Margaret E. Wolfram, Regalian Artist and Painter!

You're vastly improving incredibly fast. The painting on this is beautiful.
I don't really feel like it's too fast, honestly. It's not like I've learned anything crazy within the last year. I've just been trying out more art styles and developing my own.

My comic book style is about as well defined as I can make it with it still being distinctly "my style". I made the transition to painting rather smoothly and this marks my 4th ever painted illustration, so clearly I've had the skills all along, I just haven't used them as decidedly as I have here. Lol.

Your art has really improved and I am looking forward to seeing what else you make! I also can't wait to see that character in action when you come back and start rping. I'm guessing you don't do commissions though, do you?

Sadly no, B. I've been busy still trying to clear my commissions I have already and I'll probably take some time off from that for a bit. Especially since I have two indie game studios to illustrate for. 0.0!

Aaah. I wish you luck with doing art for those indie games, I'm sure you'll do well!
