Due to being a travel-oriented person, Vael has been to Regalia a few times in the past before being forced back on to the sea for various reasons. This time around is practically just routine in his route around the world, though complications may have found him sticking around for a longer time. His living situation is spotty and he usually finds himself inside of inns. As for their occupation, he is a merchant and thus trades and sells his wares wherever and whenever he can. Vaellsyn had a decent if not good upbringing. He was born to two married Altalar within a, at the time, well established Elven city. The family was well off and upper class. His siblings mostly got along with each other, however, as all sibling relations, there are always differences. Vaellsyn seeks wealth not only for himself but also for his family which has declined from prominent status over the years. He searches to bring them all back into riches and to be comfortable while avoiding getting further involved in these “pointless” wars. However, he has seemed to be driven off course time and time again due to various obstacles, the current war being a large one. He has a small scar above his left eyebrow and a few other unnoticeable ones around his jawline which is fairly pronounced. The shape of his eyes is average though their shade of green is brighter than normal. He is almost always grinning or smiling and holds a very jovial feel to him. His hair is pulled back into a ponytail, barring the few strands that shape his face, and decorated with braids. His hair is platinum blonde, the finest of hair colors in Altalar society, and falls to the middle of his back. Vaellsyn stands at 6 feet 3 inches with an athletic body build. Meaning, his muscles are often visible but he is by no means bulky and holds more muscle than body fat. His skin tone is moderately darker than the average Altalar due to his time spent out on the seas in the beaming sun causing a permanent tan. The small amount of body hair he has is blonde, nearly as bright as the hair on his head, and well kept, never letting it grow thick if it even could. His torso and arms have a few scars here and there from the various fights and accidents he found himself in over the years. He as well has a long tattoo in the dead center of his back along with a few others down his arms. Vaellsyn’s choice of clothing tends to be light but fashionable, something he can easily move in while also allowing him to show off some. He tends to keep to vests or long sleeve shirts with long Vs to show off his chest. He is also never seen without some sort of fabric tied around his waist or body, using such for more than just looks. He is covered in various pieces of jewelry most notably around his neck and on his head. His ears have numerous piercings and his hair is braided with silver and golden beads of sorts. The most notable component of his appearance is the Daendroc weasel, named Naida, he carries with him everywhere. She often sits atop his shoulders like a small pelt. Vaellsyn has a soothing and convincing voice due to his silver tongue. His voice is not quite deep and those who hear it tend to feel they can trust the Elf, assuming they have yet to assess his motives. Some tend to hear a slight Daendroc accent and some may even catch a few sailor terms from the Altalar. Perceived: At first glance, Vaellsyn comes off as a cordial and approachable man. His often plastered semi-smile or grin creates a friendly aura around him allowing folks to easily spark up a conversation with the fine featured Elf. His attitude is often positive and along with his silver tongue allows him to speak to just about anyone, remaining on good terms throughout the interaction. Some folks find him to be a bit too amiable, however, the majority see past that and assume he is a man seeking to make connections and contacts. Inner thoughts: On the inside, Vaellsyn is deceptive and wise though still truly friendly. He is a confident man though reminds himself to remain humble in all situations. He sees himself as a morally gray person with good intentions and sticks to that thought closely, not allowing anyone to tell him differently. He also finds himself constantly looking over his shoulder as his anxieties of being captured once again fester in his mind. Relation views: With people, Vaellsyn considers closer, he is far more meaningfully kind and friendly, differing from his kindness towards strangers in that he may not truly mean it or care for said stranger. The Elf cherishes his family and close friends, keeping them close and revealing more to them, though still holding a few secrets close to his own heart. Debatably, he would even throw himself in front of danger for one of his kin. Family is all to him, though a love life still eludes him in his travels and he grows weary of being tied down this early in life. Morality: Vaellsyn, while chaotic neutral, is very tame and clever with his decisions. His actions are carefully calculated in most situations and are practically all are for personal gain. He is quick to take coin from someone whether it be as an offering or if he conned it from them. He avoids authorities as best he can and prefers the freedom he has experienced in his time on the open seas and road. Never would he willingly bend to the laws of society. Spoiler: Weaknesses Weaknesses Addiction: Vael tends to struggle with addiction of not only alcohol but opium as well. This addiction often fluctuates as he catches himself falling into a deeper state of problem, though can never seem to shake the habit for long and shortly returns to his life of drinking and smoking. His mood tends to swing more often when under the influence and when he drops his substances he deals with heavy fits of withdraw and becomes irritable. His family was upper class within an Elven city in Daendroc. Alongside him were two brothers and two sisters, Vael being the second oldest of the lot. Childhood Vaellsyn had a decent childhood, always being taken well care of and adorned in fine silks and jewelry. His parents were often around, as was his older brother and younger sister, and Vael got along with them well. His parents, alongside a tutor or two, helped teach him the basics of life and noticed how quickly he picked up on speech, namely Modern Elven and Common. He showed promise in his studies but was not a perfect student, instead taking more interest in riches of various sorts. He was also trained to wield an atraves stave as was tradition amongst the family. Towards the end of his childhood and early teens, his family finally fell from their upper lives due to the effects of the encroaching Ailor and other threats ultimately catching up with them. Teen years The family remained well off but were not by any means rich and their money dwindled quickly until the family took up jobs. Seeing the struggle of his family members and the depression the decline brought, Vael grew determined to be the one to raise them back up to prominence, not knowing how near impossible that would be. By the age of seventeen he approached his father and with Eilavene’s blessing he ventured off. Exploring the lands of Daendroc, Vaellsyn quickly found himself enjoying the freedom outside of his home city. While he did relish in the freedom for a short time, he knew his purpose and thus began his search. He scoured for work for weeks before discovering his silver tongue. He began to approach people disguised as a beggar, asking for and receiving money from them. This progressed into him then posing as a merchant or trader and selling whatever he could get his hands on for a greater price. A few weeks after this had started, he bumped into a group in a tavern and during a potential con discovered the group was actually a gang of sorts and being impressed by his attempt recruited the young Altalar. The Elf was welcome with near open arms as the band was rather diverse in race and attitude, all with riches in mind. Vael found himself with this group for many months. During which time they performed larger scale cons and earned a large sum of coin. After pulling off their biggest score yet, Vael snuck into the group’s storage and made off with a large portion of their earnings in the middle of the night, never to return to this city. Exploring the realm Surveying one of the many harbors in Daendroc led him to finding a captain of a merchant vessel and his quick talking and some coin earned him a spot aboard the ship. The Altalar mingled with the crew and became friends with the majority of them. The ship sailed from port to port all over the world, the majority of the stops being within the Archipelago, Daendroc, and Ithania. This particular crew would travel from place to place, trading and supplying various places and on occasion set up on land for a short while so they could perform cons in order to gain more profit. During one such trip in Daendroc, Vaellsyn bumped into a few members of the gang he had robbed. A fight broke out which ended with Vael narrowly escaping and ushering the crew to depart as soon as possible. This reminded him he now had enemies in this world and he must grow more vigilant and careful. Vaellsyn and the crew continued to travel the world, moving from place to place and proceeding with their work. Vael also trained in unarmed combat, particularly Lecgaen, and improvised weapons while aboard the vessel as many of the sailors and merchants knew it to keep themselves busy while at sea and to protect themselves. He picked up on it well but relied more on his wits unless the circumstance forced otherwise. Present Vael has recently returned to Regalia to continue his trading, though due to new occurrences has found himself potentially remaining in the city for some time.

Edit the life story accordingly. - Although you mention his problem with addiction in his weaknesses, I don't see any reference to it in the life story, please include this.
