One thing I like about vanilla Minecraft is being able to explore new areas of the world and finding villages or other structures to see what loot they have. To add more interest in the survival worlds, my suggestion is to have chests randomly spawn every so often with random loot, with the list of available loot being similar to vanilla, plus lore items. Each world can have a few chests spawned at a time.
These chests can be marked with a platform of wool or something to make it clear that they are loot chests, or making the chest block temporarily glow by setting its brightness up. They could be made to spawn at least a few chunks away from any claimed land, as well as above Y64 and open to sunlight so they don't spawn in a hidden cave or something. To make things more interesting, the chests could have loot depending on their world or biome. Forest/jungle worlds would have food, potions, plants, and shovels or hoes. Cold, mountainous biomes would have pickaxes and shovels, as well as ores and metals.
A further suggestion would be to make this a donation feature where players can pay to have loot chests randomly spawned in every world, or in a world of their own choosing.. This could be a replacement for some of the more controversial Gift4All items, or at the least nerf them to gold armor/weapons/tools or something.
- Time-wise, they would spawn once every 17 days or some other uneven number to make it less predictable
- Location-wise, it'd be the opposite and more predictable to prevent a wild goose chase. We can take advantage of MassiveRestore and only have them spawn on chunks that will reset in 3-5 days.
