To the People of Regalia,

I regret to inform you that the Patriarch of House Carwell, my brother, Robert Carwell, was murdered on the road home to Norreck in Angle Veer. I decided to inform you all due to that we all have seen the horrors of loss. We can't let it drag us down into the Void with it, but must accept it and honor the memory of our lost friends and family. Even with the Witchblood Curse, I shall strive forth to do whatever it takes to help the people of Angle Veer as well as the people of Regalia. We must remain strong, proud, and mighty. We can't let the fear, the anger, and the hate that we have for each other take us over.

May the Spirit Bless and Protect us
Jason Carwell
Baron of Norreck

((OOC: @Last_Link decided to leave the family due to not having the drive for it anymore. He has been an idol to me on Massive and I wish him the best of luck for whatever he does next.))

Winifred clasped her hands together and frowned, "Poor Baron Carwell... but a Witchblood patriarch?"

Myra Carwell walked Anneke by the announcement board for what she had no idea would be the last time. She didn't really pay much attention to the board, as she had grown annoyed with all of the silly noble cockfights it displayed--That is, until she saw the crest of her own house on the board.

"Oh, that's--"

She glanced over it once.

Then she read it again, slowly, silently. Her smile began melting off her face. The dog looked up from its bathroom business and started to whimper at her trembling master.

Myra didn't know how long she stood there. It could have been minutes, it could have been hours. However long it took for her to comprehend the tragedy, the impossibility, that she now faced.

She visualized herself hugging her father goodbye just a day earlier. She looked into his eyes and felt the rush of adoration coarse through her as it had so many times.

Myra Carwell fell to her knees, dropped her leash, and started screaming.
Nadia Carwell had been accompanying her sister in law and quickly crouched down to the young teen to wrap her up in a warm hug, not making any vocal attempt to calm the child, but instead just focusing on making the kiddo feels safe while she dealt with the first rush of emotion. oof

"To a strong relationship, I will continue to honor my brother's work and memories." The Carwell would reply, though a frown was hidden on him. @Nano_Kay

Anna blinked, scanning over the announcement once, twice. "..A cursed one like me, as a Baron? Is that even possible?"

Camilla frowned, "May the Spirit keep this family in their time of need."

Down in the depths, far below Regalia's regal surface, a creature tittered aimlessly about. Flitting through darkened tunnels to scavenge for scraps and treasures discarded by the world above, the creature came upon one of the letters, likely thrown away by an apathetic commoner after it had been plucked off a notice board. Long, skeletal fingers plucked the paper up and held it to light - wispy blue light peered from the seared and broken sockets of its charred and battered skull. The paper was mostly ruined - the words smudged and difficult to make out exactly - but in the end the thing seemed to draw the message from the parchment. Its exposed ribs clattered together, the pulsating blue light shone dimmer, the tail of bones scraped across the wet, pitted stones beside the canals. The four-armed construct then quickly tied the half-soaked paper to one of its ribs and scurried along, eyes scanning silently.

"A witchblood Baron." Scoffed the Hallowblood, repeating the concept to himself as if every utterance made it less likely to be real. He frisked through the paper as if expecting some kind of note at the bottom, claiming this as a form of satire about the amount of Phantasma in Regalia. He found no note. Just a continued feeling of dread for whatever poor peasant now lived under the lands of an aberration.

Alejandro GarcĆa turned his head to face Jason as he spoke still standing by Wilhelms side. "I'm sure your brother is looking down from the everwatch and is smiling because he knows that even after he has passed his family and his name will prevail."
