With the Imperial city finding itself with even more noble houses and aristocracy, many houses required housemaids, guards, chefs, butlers and governesses, yet this group would be expanding so fast that demand for educated staff was high, yet the market was filled with unmannerd and untaught servants, which would have to be trained by their masters or other staff, taking up valuable time.
Therefor, the book The Ways Of A Proper Servant, was published.

The book had several chapters and was speaking about most of the forms of labour perfomed by house staff. Several of the chapters included:
- Housemaid's tasks and duties.
- Kitchen Maid's tasks and duties.
- Footman's tasks and duties.

The book was published for the common public which wished to be taught as a servent, the nobility that had little experience with training servants and a small group of the middle classes which could afford a help in the household.

A small paragraph of the duties of a housemaid.

''The making of beds.''
When one starts to make a bed, make sure your hands are very clean, no stains should be shown on the washed materials. Before handeling the linnen, the servant must wear a bed apron, which should be completly white, so that the linnen won't get dirty from the servants clothing, which can't be avoided because their good labour. After putting on the apron, make sure the uniform is not sticking out. Carefully make the bed, as you are now free to handle the linnen. . . .

''The duties of a butler.''
The butler is the head of the household, yet does not stand above the valet or the Lady's maid. He is in charge of the entire household and should make sure the household is ran propperly. The butler devides tasks among the senior staff, who in their turn will inform the junior staff. The butler should be able to read and write, manage funds and take care of the inventory of the household. Furhtermore the butlers tasks are. . .

Heyhey everybody! Sophia has published a book for servants and their ways to behave and conduct their jobs. With alot of houses employing servants very loosely, yet that can sometimes take a bad turn for the house, so that is why Sophia decided to publish a book about it. If you have any questions about it or wish to read a ''certain paragraph'', I will do my best to reply with a paragraph!

''Conduct for the Guard.''
The guards are, besides a very important tool for keeping the family safe, a show of wealth and power. Guards are expected to look their best for their represent the person they are guarding at that time. Therefor the uniform should be stainless, the boots polished likewise with the buttons.
When the guards are on duty, they should never speak to a familiar face they know, nor speak to the person their master is talking to. They may only speak when they are either, engaged in conversation by their master or anybody speaking to their master, with an equal or higher rank as their master. Guards are expected to lock up after the family has gone to bed and will be resposible for the safety of the family in and around the house aswell.
