The Alms Ministry of Regalia is proud to announce the establishment of The Volunteer Fire Brigade With support from the Lord Chancellor and Privy Minister, the Alms Ministry is proud to announce that the City of Regalia is taking steps to ensure the safety of its citizens in the event of city fires. The Volunteer Fire Brigade, based out of the Alms Ministry Safe House, will be comprised of both casual volunteers and a core team of permanent members, overseen by our Fire Chief: Lady Natharia Mac Conall A Letter from the Alms Minister: In recent months, it seems that it has become fashionable among the ne'er-do-wells of our city to partake in arson. Perhaps it isn't hard to understand why; arson is flashy. It sends a powerful message- even from those who seem to have very little to say, if anything at all. In response, I would like to make a statement of my own. Not through words alone, but with action. The rebuilding of what has been destroyed, and the creation of this Fire Brigade are my message: Regalia will never bend to the will of cowards and terrorists. We will continue to adapt, and to turn to one another in times of disaster, and we will continue to be resilient, for our city, for our businesses, for our homes, and for our families. Upon the creation of the Alms Ministry, the topic of the Fire Brigade was brought to me by several citizens. If anything, let this be proof of our united desire to do what is right for the people of this city. I thank all of you for your support of the Ministry and our goals, so far. With the spirit of unity, and a willingness to put in the work, each of us is capable of making Regalia a safer city, and a more supportive community. Two wagons, each of which can be pulled by one or two people, will be stationed in the Alms House and constantly at the ready with a full tank of water atop. These wagons can be pulled to the location of any fire in the city. Additionally, the Alms House will store equipment such as hooks, axes, buckets, and handheld water pumps, as well as ladders and mattresses, and heavy wool coats. Alchemical ingredients will be kept on standby as well, ordered through Mr. Mortimarti and Yaotl Imports, for the purpose of soothing burns and clearing smoke from the lungs of citizens and volunteers. Guards of the Violet Order will of course continue to fight fires in the city, but they are very welcome to join us for training and even learn some new skills! The Fire Brigade is just an additional way for citizens to respond to fires in the city. Fire Brigade Responsibilities: Train in the Alms House to learn effective fire response Be familiar with firefighting equipment and its location Visit businesses to check for fire safety basics, like the presence of a water barrel and an emergency plan Spread awareness of the brigade and ensure that people know how to seek help Run practice rescue drills Upkeep all equipment Everything listed above will be overseen by the Fire Chief, who will arrange for training times, come up with drills, and seek out potential leaders among the volunteers to take on more responsibilities. The final use of the Fire Brigade will be its presence as a tribute to the resilience of the city, and its residents. Arson shall cease to be the status quo for cowards who seek to vandalize in the night, and then scurry back to their holes, leaving devastation behind them. What is burnt will be rebuilt, and we will continue to adapt and grow stronger as a city with every passing fad that these criminals decide to engage in. Glory to Regalia, and its people. There is no application, simply show up and enjoy the RP. (Future positions/promotions may be available for consistent volunteers!) While the Violet Order continues to respond to fires, this is like an additional way they can seek training, and Discord Link: https://discord.gg/xEmMq5aEkG So how does this work in terms of fire response? As per vandalism rules, an OOC ping goes out on the Massivecraft RP Discord Server whenever a fire is set. ICly, people will know to rush to the Alms Ministry and collect the fire fighting equipment. It will be entirely up to server staff how to react to efficient fire fighting rp, and in the end the results may be much the same; burnt down buildings. However, characters should enjoy the pride associated with being part of the team, and players can enjoy the rp that comes from it on a day to day basis. It will be up to the Fire Chief and the associated players if they want to coordinate an actual plan, or if they just want to have more diverse emotes to do when fires happen, with more tools available aside from the usual bucket-running. The goal is to create rp with the day to day activities, rather than to prevent vandalism on an OOC level. Have fun! The first Event will be put out by @Maeovika as Natharia Mac Conall.
