The Voice

The Kathar sat within the temple-like chamber deep below the ground looking out from iron bars. Looking at the Url performing the rite yet as the chant began, so did the screams…

"Witch, monstrous shrew, vile whore you dare!" It screamed within her mind, "You a coward, a flightful woman who begged me, begged me to stop her morals, doubts, and fears!"

"How dare you try to expel me out of submission to a existling that doesn't even love you! You are her tool, her toy to be used and discarded!!"

Her pointed ears rang as the pain of her migraine amplified tenfold.

"Shut up, shut up, shut up," Zara hissed into the air.

The Url looked upon her eyes filled with concern, confusion but he still continued the ritual.

She began to answer his look, "I am fine it's just the voice of-"

"SILENCE YOURSELF," It commanded.

Zara fell to her knees, the pain stabbing into her like a dagger into her head.

"Your birthright prevents me from taking your mind but it shalln't stop me from this. I command you to remember nothing of me save that solution you so begged for and know you'll soon be mind in full. You're a predictable, pathetic girl who will simply find another to use her up and then cast her out."

"When she does, when your weakness becomes too much to bear you'll return to me and surrender your mind in full. Immunity or no immunity."

"The weak have no place in the void and you are weak! Next time sanguinism shall not simply empower but rebirth you free of doubt, fear, and other poisonous things you cling to!!"

It screeched within her mind, beginning to lose its grip before a sudden blast of light. As the demon, the voice was forced out into the curing chamber cast back to the void and with it the sanguinism she'd harbored for so long.

"No, I choose this…I've something that long eluded me," Zara whispered, as hot tears hit the floor, "Clarity, I am not the coward or the criminal who gave herself to you. My problems can be treated…overcome…."

She whispered these words as tears of joy fell from her eyes. After so many years, she'd chosen release from the affliction. Her mind was at last silent, she was free from the voice but not from the thing which allowed it to remain within her katharic mind. She arose standing before the Url as she introduced herself as she hadn't in decades.

"I am Zannar Marranahk Dar-Rana Balshiirn."
