The Thursday Club
The Thursday Club is a high-society, formal gentlemen's lunch club hosted and sponsored by the Count Eaton, Lord Byron Croy. It is a weekly luncheon for strictly the peerage to meet, discuss, debate, and dine. As stated, the club meets every week on Thursday, so long as there is nothing preventing it from being hosted. The aim of the Thursday Club is enable and facilitate consistent, lively discussion on the topics of the day, as well as be an open door for the nobility to meet one another and build fraternity.

Schedule
As a start, the club does not exist on an invited-person basis, meaning that so long as you are a noble, you are welcome to simply show up at the allotted time and attend.
The Club begins by hosting Tea Royale in the drawing room, which is an afternoon pre-meal tea consisting of not only assorted snacks, but also alcohol. Scones, clotted cream, jams, savoury sandwiches, and light cakes are all featured as food items. As for the drinks, tea is of course offered, and the alcohol primarily is sherry and champagne, as any harder liquor would be for after the meal rather than before. Smoking is not considered very regular to partake in at this point in the event.
Tea Royale does not last long, and is an informal situation as far as timing is concerned. One can show up well before the club is underway and begin partaking, and typically the tea ends once food is ready to be served or if the peers simply wish to go through.
Luncheon follows the tea, where the members would proceed to the dining room and be seated to eat. The bulk of the event takes place here, where members are served a dinner of the week, and discuss topics of the day. The Count Eaton will usually come prepared with at least a single primary topic for the members to interact with, but anyone is welcome to discuss anything they may like with whomever they may like. Lunch is more of a free-for-all, loosely guided by general current events, where one can enjoy lively discussion and debate from topics ranging from domestic political issues, to foreign office situations, the military, or even social court matters.
Once lunch has concluded, the event is officially over. However, so long as time permits, the Count Eaton will proceed to the dining room for drinks and smoking, as befits Cearden custom, and anyone who wishes to linger and continue on would be welcome to do so. Brandy will be commonplace, but a variety of alcohol would be available to the peers who stay behind. Once the host has indicated things are at an end, it would be time to exit the estate.
Rules and Regulations
The Thursday Club does have a few guidelines that have to be abided by. While most are not very strict, repeated offenses or very grievous infractions could result in suspension from the club. The general idea is to really just be on one's best behavior. Here are a few specific rules, however, though more may be outlined if deemed necessary over time.
- Formal Dress is required.
- It is considered offensive to show up to such an event improperly dressed. There is no strict dress code for the members to follow, other than to dress as one would for a formal occasion. Provocative or a lack of clothing would not be proper, nor would be dressing below one's station such as wearing commoner rags. Military uniforms are perfectly fine, but not armor.
- No weapons, violence, magic/sorcercy/etc., or combat of any kind. Do not cause bodily harm to members while attending the club, or instigate violence.
- If a weapon is brought into the estate, it will be asked to leave it in the foyer. If this is not followed, it will result in immediate suspension from the club.
- No excessive vulgarity.
- Club members must be a member of the peerage, be that a titled one or a member of a noble house. Women are not explicitly prevented from attending the gentlemen's club, despite the name.
- This is an OOC rule. I can only accommodate so many people in so many seats in the dining room right now. If such a time ever comes around that we have more people than seats, you will simply have to stand in game and use your imagination that you're sitting. If this becomes a repetitive issue, the venue may be moved to accommodate larger crowds.
