The #throwoutyourgoditems Campaign

Should be pretty obvious that I read your thread when I talk about specifics of it in my posts like
Sorry, I was in the middle of writing my post when you made this message :P
And the "Light Purple" looks pink to me, then again I'm half blind and need to use magnifying glasses to see anything.. so what do I know lol.

So from MonMarty's post it seems obvious that simply removing Gift4All is not a viable option financially. So this leaves one major option in reducing the effect Gift4All has on the economy; reduce the number of them in the economy. Just off the top of my head there are a couple options.
1. Make them redeemable for a set amount of regals
2. Make them get used up quicker without changing the actual items.
- This would probably only apply to the armors and would logically include all armors having decreased durability/ take more damage, possiblly by removing the cap on extra armor damage done by axes.

Armor isn't really the problem though and IDK why people keep saying it is. Armor breaks really fast to the point where I keep an extra suit in my inventory just in case a piece pops. I don't get why people are saying current prices for armor are 80r for a full suit I have literally seen nobody sell it at that price cheapest price I have seen is around 250 for a suit which I saw that price even before Gift4Alls.

Really the issue is with weapons because they don't really break that often they just switch hands when somebody dies.

I wrote a rather lengthy paragraph, and it may or may not be totally unhelpful, so i thought it would be best to put it in a spoiler.

I'm very confused to this whole conundrum in general. From what I gather EULA made perks available for those who had purchased premium to be removed, upon there removal, many people no longer became willing to pay for something they felt they no longer received benefit from. With the drop in income, the staff had to create a way for the server to keep running, so they created Gift4All's that give god gear. Now what I don't understand is that since everyone knows that they're destroying the player economy, why do they continue to buy them? Assuming they only made the purchases to keep the server afloat, they could've purchased Cake4All of something of similarity to keep a great server like this one running. So I guess one way to making a step towards both fixing the servers revenue to keep itself going and the IG economy, perhaps could be to start a thread asking why people purchase the Gift4All god armor above everything else.

However, I'd hypothesis, and also guess it's likely been covered in one of the numerous threads over the problem, that the new armor durability created by 1.9 causes god armor not to last as long. In need of god armor or wanting to help the server, or just wanting to see there name pop up on screen, people purchased Gift4Alls in mass quantities. Now there's so much god armor that the player economy is dead and with how PvP works with swords becoming nearly useless and seemingly the only way to win a fight is to break the other person's god armor, PvPers are dropping out aswell. Then everyone suggests ways to fix the problem with seemingly no knowledge in how long, hard or even impossible it is to code and implement there ideas while still keeping the server afloat.

Now I guess reading all of that may've seemed like a waste of time, as more then likely all of that information was already known to everyone, but I also have an idea to fix the problems i believe are influencing the server. The most important problem of course is keeping the server running itself. As i stated earlier, i think a thread should be created to confirm why all the people purchasing the 4alls are purchasing god sets over everything else with the growing IG economy problem. I believe knowing why they're buying what they're buying will help influence the next best way to help keep the server going rather then guessing why they're doing what they're doing.

The other problem being people no longer want to PvP because of the armor durability, the tps and everything else they feel is broken. Now from reading all the other threads and many comments, it seems the staff have acknowledged that they're either doing they're best or really can't do any more. Either way, problems seem to have arisen with 1.9 being added. Now I really have no idea how hard it is to code and update the server, and I assume not easy, but I do have the question of why 1.9 was implemented. I admit this is a stretch and I can foresee the many problems and the large chance it's not even possible, or if it is, it'll do more harm then good, but is it possible to role back to 1.8? I don't understand any benefits Massive received from updating to 1.9. Now again, I'm sure its likely not possible, but it's simply an idea I was curious if was possible, but thinking more on it, I get the feeling servers have to update for some reason I have no knowledge of.

After finishing writing that, I feel I have ranted more then helped, and apologize to anyone who read that and felt they didn't benefit at all, I guess it was more or less me clearing up my own thoughts and making sure I was following what was going on correctly.

Well imo 250r is still too cheap, but thats not here or there.
It sounds like to me theres just too much gear in general. Whether or not Gift4All is the source of this from a server economy standpoint theres just too much supply and not enough demand to match it.

They updated because servers that don't update don't generally get very heavy traffic. We'd have none of the new blocks to work with and no Elytra which wouldn't be such a big deal on an all PvP server in fact all the PvP servers I play on still run 1.8 but on a server like this with an immense amount of builders and RPers that sort of thing is kind of a big deal.

I personally would have loved it if we stayed in 1.8 or even better IMO went back to 1.7 but unfortunately that's not feasible for a server such as this.

*quietly suggests - again - that Regalia invade Farah'Deen or Old Ceardia and buy piles and piles of all types of god stuff for like 100r a piece*

Would help put money back into the economy while pulling god armor & weapons out, along with diamonds & enchanted books (since people will mass produce god armor to earn the money from server shops) which will at least temporarily patch the situation up if it's really that bad (I don't think it is, PvPers love their "teh world iz ending" drama... every single update gets it).

In the midst of all this bickering, I'm just going to toss my opinion in here for it to be forgotten.

First off, y'all need some chill in your life. Try meditation or something. Second, I'll start by giving @Staff some suggestions I think would benefit everyone. Now, I'm not entirely sure how much you guys pay attention to the response from players. This thread has the most non-vague content and contribution on it I've seen from staff regarding this aspect of the server for awhile. I'm not accusing y'all of not working on the server, because I know you do. I'm aware you invest your lives into it and I'm aware of the stress it brings. I've managed servers before and I'm aware of how toxic it can be. However, when tickets can take 4+ hours to answer, and staff really only seems to chime in to mediate discussions, it can seriously piss off the player base. I've personally have had tickets (or posts in Q&A sections of the forums) open for so long that they became irrelevant or I completely forgot what their purpose was. These recent updates to the server and minecraft in general have been rough. I recognize that. So, I'm highly recommending that y'all start to communicate better. Just by posting things on forums to touch in with players and let them know exactly what you're doing to fix problems and where there's room for player input. Then, show that you value player input more often. Don't just try to avoid the elephant in the room by changing the topic in general chat or hastily organizing events that just seem to further frustrate the community. Don't attack players for expressing their opinions and don't let your ego turn you into an opressive authority figure. You guys are humans too, and it's okay to make mistakes. For example, your guy's response to the growing distaste of the anticheat plugin was fantastic. I was so glad that the problem was recognized and dealt with in such an efficient and respectful manner from your end. Which brings me to my next point.

@Players (Can I do that? I'm doing it.) I'm going to repeat myself. Chill out. I'm aware of the many frusturatimg changes going on. They affect all of us. I'm pissed at the fact that I have no more regals, that storages I've worked to maintain are now worthless, that PvP is so broken it's become more of a chore than anything else, that when I try rping I get shut down pretty fast or that I'm just plain bad at it. But not all of that is the staffs fault. They have to work within certain constraints and although there is room for growth, y'all can't be such jerks all the time. Now, if you know me, I like to throw shade. It feeds me. But I'm more than capable of taking shade back. So when Thortuna says something (and I'm saying this out of context because I only know the context from within Jes's quote) remotely sassy, it does not warrant this type of verbal assault. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that part of the reason there's a lack of trust and communication is because of reactions like this. I can agree that there is a point where one needs to be outspoken like this and regardless if whether or not I agree with the satirical message of the original post, this was completely unnecessary.

So shame on everyone I guess. I'm going to be doing other things for awhile until this stuff gets sorted out and in all honesty I have no idea whether or not my activity is going to significantly drop.

Fix your , people. (For those with incompatible devices that was "Fix your *poop emoji*, people.")

For me personally (logic I apply to myself alone as well) I avoid replying on most idea threads for various reasons:
  • Most idea threads are stupid, like the ideas make no sense or have already been rejected previously because OP was too lazy to read back.
  • Most players aren't waiting on a no. They get angry with me for rejecting their idea, even if I support it with logic that they simply don't agree with.
  • Most idea threads have to be put on a back burner because players don't seem to fully understand the correlation between quality and time.
  • A quantifiable size of people who make suggestions have some sort of personal issue with me or love criticizing me. I have a super hard time feeling motivated to help someone who talks shit about me.
  • I only "truly" care about lore and world suggestions. People say I don't have any leg to stand on in the PVP community nor do I play survival, so in the meritocratic point of view, why should my opinion on it matter?
The best way to get me to reply things is to either PM it to me or shoot it at me over skype. That being said. I have considered recently upon suggestion of some players to open up an AMA session, maybe even with Cayorion where anyone is just welcome to come in for an hour and ask questions / shoot suggestions our way and we can give an immediate and concise Human response. I am not a fan of the suggestion board, in fact I dislike even looking into it and often simply don't hoping others will. This is simply my personal preference though, It'd be unfair to say the other staff do the same because I know for a fact some staff members do look at the threads on the daily. They loop most of the relevant information back to me during meetings or whenever an issue becomes such a hot topic that my response is required.

Like Thortuna did with this thread.

Not sure anymore where to post my suggestions to repair the economy .. I'll just answer here for now:

Suggestion to replace armor/weapon4all:

Decrease the timeout limit (to be automatically kicked out of a faction) to one week or 10-14 days and implement the planned database priority (= no time out) for premiums. I guarantee I would buy premium for my main character and all my alts..

Take away the players ability to make level IV enchants, which fixes the enchant issue @pokyug mentioned.

This would make Gift4All the only way to get level IV ranked enchants, or what would allow for "true" god armor.

Increase the price of Gift4All, bring in more money for the server.

Level IV god armor is only available to people who use IRL currency, thus sky-rocketing it's cost in regals IG. Which if the relative cheapness of the armor now is the issue, will fix said issue.

I honestly know jack diddly about the economy or whether or not this plan is even feasible, or worth it. So basically here's a premature apology to those who will get mortally wounded I would suggest something so uncouth and middle class.

I thought about that, but wouldn't that then be paying to have an advantage? If the only way to get this good armor is by paying then its pay to win which to my understanding is against the EULA. Its a good idea, just not very legal to my understanding.

Lel, I'm an rper so I more or less use /trash to get rid of the Gift4All things I get except my god shovel. It's fucking magic shovel, that's why.

Nope, because every player on the server at that moment would receive the same armor, making it so one person makes it possible for the whole server to "pay to play".
*Which in the end makes it so pay 2 play is not really a thing. *

This is really smart. +1

I'm just going to respond to this as it is targeted primarily at game staff.

We aren't ignoring tickets that come in. We are low on manpower. We are actively trying to recruit more staff to help (we currently have 2 aspirants), but right now we just don't have game staff actively available during every point in the day.

Also note: Even though some gamestaff may be online, they may not be able to take your ticket based on their rank and training. Not all ranks can take all tickets.

Personally, even if I'm not actively working tickets and busy with other things in game, I'll take a ticket if it's been sitting 20+ minutes unanswered while I'm online.

I'm well aware of the effort you put in as well as other staff. I think what's most frusturating is when you've had a ticket open for hours on end and consistantly check /ti m, only to have it say "No working moderators". Then to press tab and see a bunch of blue names in the world. But what irks me the most is when I, or anyone for that matter, messages a staff member and they say something like "Just make a ticket" or "Be patient", when ironically you made a ticket 4 hours ago.

However that was just one example of a large disconnect and lack of communication between staff and players. Especially within the factions/"PvP" community. It wasn't limited to tickets. It includes activity on the forums and just a general attitude/vibe players pick up on from staff.

I'm going to use this as an example to support my previous post on this thread. Keep in mind that I'm not 100% sure of the accuracy of this story but I have a decent idea:

A player made a ticket on me for "safezoning" which I wasn't necessarily doing. A staff member confronted me and gave me a warning, to which I called them out for simply taking another players word and assuming I broke the rules Generally I seem to get a rather negative reaction from certain staff and I don't blame them, because of the way my faction and I occasionally act. (Side rant: Sometimes it feels like staff will jump at the chance to discipline me. Like when I was joking in general chat about my faction member while in a skype call with him and got muted, when 5 minutes earlier there was some kid swearing at someone else and he went unpunished, verified with /seen.) Anyways, this next part I'm unclear on, but that staff member ended up permanently banning the player that made the ticket because the staff then accused them of doing the thing he made the ticket on me for. This severly pissed off the player to the point where they insulted the staff members competency. That resulted in a permanent ban.

The significane of this story is that, there isn't a healthy relationship between staff and a large portion of the playerbase. I'll say this again, but I highly recommend more content is shared with the community in regards to what staff is actively doing to fix problems instead of just throwing random quick fixes at us that don't really do much. And it's the responsiblity of the players to respect that and offer constructive feedback and not attack staff members like this original post does.

The blue names extend to all staff members I belive, like rycirea who is a lore staff member. The game staff is sufficiently low on manpower due to the amount of work they actually have to do, I belive the aspirant rate of game staff applicants getting into the role is about 50% whereas lore gets about 95% as stated by the staff blog read-me making the amount of people in game staff a rather low number, and with the amount of pvp action going on they also have to accommodate for their real lives as well. You may find that tickets dont get dealt with because of the time zone some of the game staff are in. They're not robots, and they certainly don't have the time to "jump at the chance to dicipline you"

If i were a staff and i wasnt the highest level i would never list myself as working.. Its clear that most players dont understand that 1) not all blue names are gamestaff/can answer tickets and 2) Dont understand that even the rank1 and rank2 gamestaff arent allowed to answer all tickets. Why would they list themselves if they are just gonna get harassed by you not getting your ticket answered because they cant.

I have a suggestion for all people complaining that staff don't help them fast enough: If ur 16 or older apply to become a staff member for Game Staff. They are clearly understaffed if they take 4+ hours on a ticket (I too have experienced ticket delays) so the logical conclusion is to help them rather than to whine about it.

I nominate @PSIness11 and @_Vidaar as tributes, age permitting XD
But seriously, I do believe this is probably the best solution put forward so far. Rather than just complain about the issue before us all, try to be a part of the solution.
On the other hand, I understand there are many people here who don't have the time to dedicate to being staff or just flat-out don't have the right personality for it, but I'm sure there are plenty of people here who could be staff if they chose to be. Personally, I would like to see one or 2 of the well-known pvpers as staff. That way the pvp community would actually have someone who they would listen to as well as actual representation among staff.

Sure it would be great if more people applied for gamestaff but i will say the screening for gamestaff and the training is not a walk in the park. It takes time, dedication, you need to not flame and be rude to people and help people actively in helpchat for me to take you on as a gamestaff. If you feel you qualify then apply and we will review applications asap this week to get responses out as quick as we can! But a quick reminder that we do have lives and things going on so if your application is taking a day or two to be reviewed i apologize in advance.

@Thortuna @Night_Raider_ I would not make a good staff member as of right now, as I flame to much. I might apply after cutting down on flame. A LOT.
I do have experience as a staff member on a server, and I am one on another server starting up. Still massive craft is my favorite server, and I'd like to help it.

I'd be staff but... too many whiners on this server. :/

Within a week I'd be blowing up at everyone.

Not really a criticism of the server I just have very little patience for such things.
