THE ART OF WAR: A REFLECTION
23 October
Penned exclusively by General Reimar Typhonus, the Hero of Lurlaven.​

October the 23rd is dedicated to Ruedin the Inspiring, the Heron of Generals. With this, it seems there is no better day than to reflect upon some of the recent conflicts in the past, and generals of living memory. Without a doubt it is thanks to the strategic prowess of these individuals as Generals, becoming just one one of the key reasons for Regalian victory in the wars of the past decades, ranging from the Chrysant War just over two decades ago to the current wars of today occurring in the Elven Moors.

On Inspiration
When looking at two famous military figures of living memory, Ulric Typhonus and William Howlester come foremost to mind. Ulric Typhonus is known as a prominent figure in recent military history, having taken part in conflicts going back to the Chrysant Wars, and even most recently acting as a General at one point in Elven Moors earlier in the spring. He is an opponent his enemies quickly learned to fear, but also grew to respect. The Hadravian War comes to mind where he gained a reputation for being an undefeated Regalian commander. A reflection of this could be seen when the fifteen thousand strong first army came upon an enemy army of ten thousand under the Saruhannan leader Fatiq Isla-Mullahr. Prior to the battle, respect was had such that both wished each other luck and honors in what was to come. I draw inspiration from him near-daily, and I know as fact that my own war planning would not be half as effective without him to be there as a guide, and often the first man to hear my war plans as I refine them. It's incredible to be related to such a strong, capable man, and I look to his example as I forge forward in my life.

The Hadravian War also saw the Howlester Miracle took place. William Howlester is also a prominent figure in military history, and the Regalian military today. He oversees the Regalian Marshal Cabinet as the Imperial Court Marshal currently, and has an extensive record going back to the Chrysant Wars, and continuing on in the current Elven Moors theatre. An event however that all can draw inspiration from was the Howlester Miracle that took place in the Hadravian War. Treasonous elements planted within the first army had injured Ulric Typhonus as the opening stages took place. As the battle progressed and morale started to drop, a temporary lull in the fighting occurred. William Howlester stood on a rock and rallied the men of that army, after which he lead the charge and engaged a pair of Songaskian officers- slaying one in combat and forcing the others to retreat. The Court hailed the miraculous victory that happened on this day, and the event that secured it. Howlester has long been a paragon of strength and inspiration for myself and the soldiers, and I turn to his example during moments of doubt. He is a constant pillar of support for the Military, the Marshals, and I admire him greatly.

On the Dread War
At present, the current conflict in the Elven Moors against the Dread Empire began with troop landings and the capture of Fort Thelwar on the main landmass in the Elven Moors. Around a month later in the middle of March, Regalian forces marched once more and were successful in capturing the port city of Mekar'sath due south of Fort Thelwar. A month later in the middle of April however would see a defeat and a victory for the Regalian forces. Attempts to capture Lurlaven had failed, however, a Kathar army sent North from Nuthothek to attack Mekar'sath was successfully beaten and routed in the field. Late June saw the attempt to capture Nuthothek fail, however another Dread Empire attempt to capture Mekar'sath was also ultimately repulsed. A month later in late July and the first days of August, the Kathar army coming up the coast from the South was repulsed once again from capturing Mekar'sath. While this occurred, an army in the West managed to scatter defenders around Lurlaven and open a path to attack the city directly.

Late September and the early days of October then the fall of Lurlaven to Regalian forces which brings us to the present warfront. Regalia has regained the offensive initiative once more, and time will tell if this will be enough to finally break the Dread Empire forces in the Moors.
