The Regalian Tribune - First Edition

A sudden influx of newspapers would be delivered across the Holy City, and along with that a public office would be offering articles to any who may want them for the simple price of a single regal, on behalf of the first edition published by a new printing press; the Regalian Tribune.

Alexander d'Ortonnaise, as well as the fellow workers at the Regalian Tribune, presents to the citizenry of Regalia an active paper which pledges to be bipartisan, active in confirming sources, and telling the news with the honor & integrity that the Regalian people deserve. While papers rise & fall in a matter of weeks, others misinform the populace of crucial information, we will make it our enduring effort to keep the Tribune truthful & informative. Articles will be released when there is enough news for the paper.

In the Mind of High Reverend Benedict XI
In light of many recent changes and choices within the government of the Empire as well as the Sancella; the Tribune chooses to make it's first piece on the newly selected High Reverend of the Sancella, Exarch Benedict XI. Chosen from among his fellow holy Reverends, Paolo d'Ortonnaise ascended a level rarely experienced. Ever since becoming the Exarch, the Sancella has been increasingly active, though there are remaining concerns and questions not just about the Sancella's policies for the future, but about His High Holiness himself, Benedict XI. We have been granted a chance to ask and receive honest answers in an interview with the High Reverend, so as to allow him to use this paper as a platform to spread the good message of the Sancella to the masses of the Holy City and beyond.
All emboldened type is of the High Reverend's own words.

About adjusting to the role of High Reverend and Exarch...
"Well, the office certainly is one that requires great interior strength and stalwart commitment to satisfy the demands of the Spiritual needs of the faithful and remain ever loyal to the Creeds in such volatile times."

About the importance of the role High Reverend, and the difference between this and the Supreme Reverend...
"The High Reverend of the Sancella, in its basic dimension, represents the State Church. He is by no means, levying more authority than the collective Synod whence he came, differing from what the defunct office the Supreme Reverend suggests.
However, in this role, he is tasked as a first among equals, garnering consensus and chairing meetings of the body that governs the Church. And in this, inherently yields some prestige as a public face of the Faith, but no more in the fervent sense of stewardship does he have in relation to the brother Reverends that confided in him this office."

About rampant heresy within and out of the Holy City...
"We of course recognize heresy to be the greatest threat to our society. Heresy is a great danger that poses significant damage if left unaddressed because of the distortion of what is objectively true. Furthermore, then leaves individuals en masse to be susceptible to the propagation of damning doctrines. As for our agenda, I have promulgated a registry to document lawfully conferred Unionists whilst at the same time, do extend an outreach for those who require sacramental benediction to come to the Church and speak to us.
The whole idea is to keep the degeneracy that is heresy from proliferating. If a Unionist discovers a heretic, they should immediately summon authorities and a Reverend at their safest convenience, to which we will correct the heretic lest they opt to face the justice of the Spirit."

Final note...
"It should be said that the word not be "forward" but consistent. Consistency, I think, is the highest pursuit that the Sancella can act upon. Our ministers must be prevalent, available, outspoken and persistent. It is when we follow these virtues and act as the Herons, we find ourselves within good standing, being active not passive witnesses to the Creeds and the manifestation of the Spirit's graces in everyday life. That is what I devote my life to and what I impel not just the Church, but for all lay Unionists as well."

Assembly's Consular Election Results
Upon December 1st of 305AC, the Noble Assembly convened a scheduled session with His Imperial Holiness' presence to hold the Consular elections. All well-informed members of the Assembly were prepared, and not to anyone's surprise, the Archduke Ulric Typhonus won re-election for his second term as Proconsul with a whopping 32 votes from the Assembly. Behind with a re-election despite his on-the-spot appointment a few days before came the Duke Ravenstad, with 19 votes as Consul. Now, the Assembly has selected it's Consuls, though this isn't to ignore the proposals sent into the Assembly. The one of note is subject to a scandal, in which House Ombre proposed the creation of a charter based on the authority of magic, which authority was noted as already present in a number of other charters. The Sancella representative present highlighted that the establishment of such a charter is heretical and so is the thrive to accomplish it.

Successor States believe in a State of Success
For some time now, the Regalian Empire has pursued heavy engagements over the Rie front. A war against most of Daendroc and Teled Methen has run active, and as Regalian troops slowly establish a foothold right at the doorstep of the largest Elven city, the Elves have made it apparent their choice is to focus less on the war and more on dwelling in their past. They have chosen to form a union between most Elven Principalities near Rie, in order to try and fend off the Regalian invasion.

The Regalian Tribune quickly caught wind of the Faith Pogrom, somewhat relieved they already got their heresy and faith-centered paper out ahead of time.

"Keepin' up with the d'Mayo's is what this shoul' be called," Avynn said mildly after scanning the paper.

Darcie's lips twitched slightly in amusement as she read through the paper. "Certainly a nice read... The funnies were nice." She murmured before eying the sleeping form of her dog Rufus.

Edmund smiled when he read the paper, now determined to meet with Alexander to finish discussing the business partnership. If things work out, he will cancel the Gazette entirely.
