Addressing the Secretary of Magi and the Public

To preface my response, I find it pertinent, if not jarring, to explain that its woefully abhorrent that I am forced to make a public response to a secretary who by now must realize the importance of confidentiality regarding inter-government body communication. Alas, however, we must discuss this with every member of the public watching so vis-à-vis, I will be blunt and honest to that extent.

Firstly though, I have to address the gaudy opening statement to your self aggrandizing proclamation. Secretary of Magi, as Imperial Court Marshal I have to admit, you are not a veteran of the Kathar war. The true veterans have been fighting that war since it began and are still on the Moors, or have died in doing so. You are merely a sub-contracted non-commissioned tactician/warrior who has participated in a handful of battles. Please do not attempt to belittle the work of the men and women still fighting abroad and glorify yourself as some sort of State treasure when all you've managed to truly accomplish in the last few months is kill a single Paladin of an Order of dozens, requiring the assistance of a walking tree to do so, no less.

That aside, I will respond to these supposed Acts Against the State with my knowledge of the Law and illustrate where you are misled.

Acts Against the State

Point One: There is no legal obligation on Gilded Templars to acquire White Mage documentation under any current law or directive. Placing such an onus on them to do so would be similar to myself chastising you for not sending some of your men, that have been spotted wearing plate in the city no less, to sign up to join the boys in purple patrolling the streets. Its, quite plainly, ad hominem. The law does not place an obligation for Manathar to become White Mages. This point has nothing legally relevant. The Manathar under my command are serving the State by serving the Violet Order. They are not required, legally, to be at your beck and call for white slips to be equated to being loyal servants of the Empire. Those that betray the trust bestowed, get hunted. Case in point for Miss Arwen'elda Tordove which I will remark on hereunder.

Point Two: The Gilded Templars are serving members of the Violet Order undertaking numerous investigations under my command for the safety of the city at large. I can only assume they do not have the time under my command for interviews, however, I suggest if you are so inclined to have documentation of their racial abilities, a few hours away from your desk and locating them yourself might be more prudent than sending good Ser Kade with a friendly request. It appears to me there was no mention of a legal obligation to bestow this information and I've certainly not seen any documentary or Government order for such. In the absence of such, they cannot be chastised for not being forthcoming. From my point of view this oversight is a failure on the part of the Secretary, not the Gilded Templars. .

Point Three: Yes, Arwen'elda Tordove is a dissident and deserter of the Violet Order and being hunted for it by Greywitches, Vigilants, Wardens /and/ Templars alike. I truly hope that the good Secretary is not attempting to adopt the Doctrine of Guilty by Association against those still serving in City Law enforcement, because the Good Secretary might find such a Doctrine was abolished years ago. Yes, Arwen'elda Tordove is a criminal, so are quite a few Altalar, in fact we have arrested a notable number of Altalar gang members this last week for involvement with Maria Valnets gang. Am I to assume that using the Secretaries own logic, I should be questioning him next as to where he was last Sunday? Absolutely not. Invalid argument.

Point Four: This is more a reminder to the people than to the Secretary but the hearsay of a mage does not equate to the lengthy and time consuming investigations performed by Violet Order constables. The Commander of the Greywitches and I are ostensibly keeping watch on the Templars but aside from some minor slip ups in Old Town, what's listed here is nonsense. I as Lord Commander would request the Secretary of Magi do his job and allow us to do ours. I will look into these matters but allegations are all they are, not charges or warrants. The Secretary of Magi lacks jurisdiction for such and that falls under mine, the Grand Commander and the Grand Inquisitor of the Violet Order's own prerogative.

Conclusion

I must say never in the history of Regalian Governance have we had a situation when inter-communication between a Government Official and the Violet Order had to be publicized to the public for all to see. Then again this is the first time we've had an Altalar in any form of government power so strange things arent exactly uncommon. In response to the Secretaries recommendations:

  1. I will not be dissolving the Gilded Templars and I will not be shaming the Violet Order guardsmen for work dutifully carried out, Manathar or not. I am a devout Jingoist, and be as it may, no matter how much I dislike the Manathar or other non-humanum kind, I have seen the dedication from those remaining loyal to the Violet Order first hand and continue to trust their service.

  2. I recommend the Lord Chancellor not take the Magi's advice in light of the above.

  3. I warn the Secretary of the Magi that inciting a public ostracisation, dissent and borderline rebellion toward the Gilded Templars while officially chaptered under my command is paramount to inciting such against the Violet Order and a breach of multiple Regalian Laws and I will not hesitate to order the arrest of the Secretary of Magi if he continues to propagate unlawfully against any Violet Chapter without the Lord Chancellor first ratifying such an action.

Argue that I am wrong if you must, but I have made the position of the Violet Order clear. Moreover, argue that I'm being mind controlled, as the rumors seem to say. I'm William bloody Howlester, I really couldn't give an Orc's toss.

I hope despite the above communication the office of the Secretary of Magi will realise that co-operation in these matters are key for the future with the Violet Order and vice versa. I await the day he finally attempts to schedule a meeting with my person.

"Keep at it, Secretary. You might be damned elf, but you see the truth. Fight for it and we will all be better off for it." An excerpt from Hengest's public memoirs of the week says. @Scribbe

"Hope the Lord Chancellor sees right, perhaps I should form an official government press corps if they'll have it. We'll see.." Leonard Underwood would say to himself, not pleased that Howlester has a way with words.

An approving hum escaped the veteran Violet guard Officer and war vet. Seraphina folded up the parchment and tucked it into her pocket. "Always respected him and now he earns even more of it. Good man for putting that damn Secretary in his place. Bloody Altalar." She shook her head as she moved to tighten her armor bits and stroll off, a jaunty little tune escaping her as she went.

A Member of the Aristocracy sees the paper, as she saw it she casually nodded in approval before laughing at the Secretary of Magi, in private, of course.

"I stand with House Coen." smiles Johannes Wernher Ackermann II, praising the glorious Gallovian hegemony for standing up to the bigoted, anti-Manathar Secretary of Magi.
