The Imperial Guard
The Imperial Guard of the Emperor is considered the most elite and difficult to get into military organization in the Regalian Empire, with a total number of members never exceeding three-hundred-and-one. Commonly also known as the Tyrian Order, the Imperial Order represents the cream of the crop of warrior class culture surrendering free will and freedom to service to the Imperial Household. While some other Guard Organizations are better behaved and can sometimes come across as less thuggish than Imperials, Imperials have extended freedoms and duties balancing their extreme rigorous demand to obedience, with additional privilege. To be an Imperial Guard is an ambition to some, but a pipe dream to many, with many recruits failing to accept the loss of identity and freedoms required to acquire the actual armor of the Imperial Guard.
Being an Imperial Guard is not for everyone. It represents the highest form of surrendering many freedoms in exchange for Noble Prestige and service, and while some privileges are returned, on the whole, being an Imperial Guard is a lifestyle choice, not a job.
Imperial Guard:
- Cannot Not be a member of any other organization, House Guard or Guard. They may hold no secret affiliations, and if they are of Nobility, they must denounce their old family name.
- Must be "passing Humanoid", meaning Ailor-adjecent in appearance as judged by the Imperial Household. Some dispensation may be granted for other races in unique circumstances.
- Have their own law to obey. Imperial Guard exist somewhat outside of the Law, but what they can do is similarly extremely restricted. Imperial are dedicated to the Kades and nothing else.
- Kade members aren't always online. Being an Imperial Guard is not recommended on main characters, but if on main, you are encouraged to have alt-characters to fill the down-time.
- Imperial Guarding is not always exciting and fun. There is interactions with House Kade and Noble Prestige to be made, but sometimes it is also very boring for weeks on end.
- While Imperial Guard have some freedom to move around, a Guard cannot just sit in the tavern or take a trip to Crookback at will. Being an Imperial Guard restricts freedom.
Being an Imperial Guard does not necessarily mean a character must be prim and proper. The Imperial Guard are known to be "rough thugs" to other Knightly Orders and Guards, and it is absolutely fine for them to come across that way too, as long as they stick to the rules outlined on the Regalian Law page, and the internal Kade protocols for how an Imperial Guard can behave. An Imperial Guard can be as loud and rude as they want to be, as long as they fulfill their jobs accurately and with excellence.
Noble Families who dedicate their members to celibacy in the Imperial Guard may expect prestige from their name associated with the elite guard force of the Emperor, for as long as their members is part of the Imperial Guard and active. Imperial Guards are expected to hover around Kades whenever they are online, even if they are in private quarters, unless they are in ""private"" private quarters (read: romance rp). Imperial Guards are permitted to go anywhere on Imperial Property (Estates, Palaces, etc.), but are expected to refrain from common street rp when Kades are not around. It is lore breaking for an Imperial Guard to just take a stroll down Imperial Isle and have a beer at the pub. They are never off-duty unless given an hour off by a Royal Kade.
There are currently some Royal-Imperial Kades:
- Emperor Alexander
- Prince Cedromar
- Princess Florance
- (inactive) Prince Duncan
- (inactive) Princess Noor
- (inactive) Prince Xavier
How to join?
- Send a letter to the Master of Letters of the Imperial Court (Klaus Typhonus) regarding an application to the Guard. This Application should be really short. Name, Descent, Race, Age, Military Experience. That's it. Ex-Knights (Viridian, Bloodcast etc.) are preferred as Imperial Guards, but general warriors and self-trained have been known to be accepted on occasion too. This letter will be passed on to Alexander for initial vetting.
- Once Alexander approves the letter (or passes rejection down to Klaus), the applicant will be put in contact with the acting Commander of the Imperial Guard, Miss Hannah Lexen. They will make an appointment for a field-test in which she will rough up the trainee/applicant to see what they are made of and how well they would serve in the Guard.
- Once Hannah Lexen approves of the applicant, they will be given a personal audience with a Royal-Blood Kade, who will read them the law and demands, and hand them the armor and whatever weapon they desire while in service. From that point on, the Imperial Guard loses the right to be an individual, and becomes part of the Imperial Guard and property of House Kade in an almost-slavery sense.
