The General stands at the balcony with a cigarette on his lips as he looks down at a group of volunteers from below who have shown interest in joining the Imperial Fist. He stands still, not saying a word for one whole minute as everyone awaits. Silence fills over the area. His critical gaze goes around everyone below, before he finally takes the cigarette out of his lips and speaks.

"I will make this very clear. This is not a noble's army. You will not be walking around with fancy arse cloaks and golden armor. If you expect to be treated kindly, forget it. This is not an army for courtesy or any kind of personal show of power, this an army which values efficiency and skill over all, regardless if someone feels abused or offended. This is a mark for real men, men who aren't here for prestige, men who aren't here to gain favors. If you have some problem with being treated like every common man, sharing the same amount of meal and conditions, from the highest noble to the poorest peasant, I suggest you leave right now, because you will face a lot of rigorous situations. But I tell you all, if you have the guts to stay, you will have joined the most powerful, efficient and disciplined army in Regalia. And together, we shall win The Great War."

With that, half of the volunteers left, looking for more "kind" regiments, leaving only the brave behind. The Officers get worried at that, but General Marknid doesn't. He puts his cigarette back to his lips. That's exactly what he wanted.
