They have the power to ask questions, enforce court rules, interrogate witnesses, and silence any speaker for whatever reason they feel the need to. Most importantly, the Inquestor will deliver the final verdict of the Inquest, either passing a recommendation of approval to the Crown or rejecting it altogether.
Inquestor's Ear | The assistant to the Inquestor, tasked with acting as a helping-hand to their duties. Their powers and responsibilities may vary depending on the will of their reigning Inquestor.
Imperial Bureaucrat | The bureaucrat of the palace, who transfers the judgment of approval to His Imperial Holiness.
Speaker | The main actor of the Inquest that is to be put under trial. They will be judged by the Inquestor after a show of evidence and testimony.
Prosecution | This role operates as the main opposition to the speaker, asking questions and providing evidence against them. They may call upon witnesses and question them similarly.
Defense | They act as the primary council of the speaker, providing evidence, witnesses, and testimony in favor of them.
Spectators | The attending crowd of a public Inquest. They are meant only to provide witnesses for the judgment of an Inquest, to ensure that it is performed according to law and in good-will.
Guidelines and General Etiquette
The Inquest bans all use of swearing and racist speech during procession as according to Bigotry Laws.
Attire shall similarly follow the standard dress code of the Palace Conduces.
Order and Method of Proceedings
Proceedings shall begin with the official opening of court, by the Inquestor, who will have officiated a regular time of attendance and made it public knowledge (7pm Eastern Time). The Inquestor will then announce themselves and call the speaker to the stand. The speaker will be questioned in any way seen fit by the Inquestor, possibly including hypothetical scenarios and questions regarding morality and general disposition.
Following this, the prosecution will be asked to the stand and will present their evidence, arguments, and witnesses to interrogate. The Inquestor may intercede at any time during this phase and may ask questions to the witness as deemed necessary.
The defense will then be allowed to bring forth their argument in support of the speaker. They will similarly have the power to provide evidence, testimony and witnesses.
Finally, a judgment will be passed by the Inquestor, which will either recommend approval from the crown through the Imperial Bureaucrat, or reject the proposal of the speaker. This will end the formal proceedings of the Inquest.
If the Speaker is Undead, they have twenty four hours to leave the palace and to find their way away from the streets of Regalia in order to give them a chance to hide once more.
