The High Reverend's Recent Travels
____________________________________________________________________
The sound of the galloping horses could be heard throughout the Anglian Countryside as a carriage was pulled along the dirt paths which lead towards the sparse settlements within the plains. The light of the moon dimly illuminated the crop which swayed as the fast moving cart swept a light gust due to its speed. Inside the intricately crafted carriage sat the elderly Aelfric, adorning a black coat, his legs covered by a heavy blanket. At his feet, his Anglian Shepherd accompanied him, albeit not very actively, a gentle snore emitted from his snout.
With the call of the coachman, the horses halted in their run at the door of a small "estate" of sorts, surrounded by the still stalks of wheat which grew in the family's farm. He had arrived at the home of the Ahernes, his original however not his blood related family. The coachman opened the door to the interior of the carriage, out coming the weak Harhold who's weathered gaze shifted about the area. His wrinkled face was marked by a slight smile as his blue eyes fell upon the door. He tottered forth with the assistance of his cane which dutifully held him on his feet, tapping at his side. His joints a bit sore and aching from the long ride, he was also helped along by the coachman, and his loyal dog who while not technically helping in any physical mean, trotted by for a form of morale support.
As he made his way shakily up the four steps which lead to the entrance of the home, he halted on the third step, shaking the coachman's hand and thanking him for the help. As the coachman walked along back to the carriage, he continued up. The last step was overcome, taking the final few movements towards the door. An unsteady hand reached to the knocker, soon hitting against the wood.
The elderly High Reverend waited for a moment, before the door opened, appearing two Ahernes, Wulfric and Telona, the Patriarch and Matriarch, both of advanced age as well. The Harhold's graying hound hurried inside to greet the two familiar folk, soon after Aelfric doing the same. A firm handshake from Wulfric first, "Aelfric! Good to see you finally. It's been what? Bloody nine months, aye?" Aelfric chuckled and nodded, "Yes, yes. I apologize. Things had me at the capital for some time."
Soon he hugged Telona, offering his greetings to her as well. "Aelfric!" She said, "A pleasure to see you again. Spirit Bless that you got here safe. I heard the waters are a bit turbulent at the moment." Aelfric responded, "Likewise! And I'm sure those are just rumors from the market. The trip wasn't that bad actually despite what you might have heard, heh." After a small pause, Wulfric broke the silence, "Well, come in! We've all be waiting for you for some time."
As the three made their way into the sitting room, the other Ahernes stood. Eolora was the first to greet Aelfric, followed by her Ithanian husband, his grayed blonde hair a contrast to the black found of the family. "Aelfric. Good to see you." She offered a small curtsy, "Ah, good to see you as well, Eolora. And please, dispense with the curtsies and bows and all that. We are family and I am not the Patriarch anymore, pah." He offered a glance to Wulfric, who offered a chuckle, before soon turning to Jean, his smile shrinking a bit. "Jean.." Jean offered the man a curt nod, "Reverend." Aelfric soon corrected him, "/High/ Reverend. But at least you did not call me by your Cultures Priscille Sect's titles. Revered Princess. Heh. That would be an insult. Especially since that sect has died out." The Ithanian frowned slightly, offering little of a response but a dull and faked laugh. Silence ensued once more, before it was once again broke by Wulfric, "Well, Aelfric. How about you greet Adelaide!" "Ah, yes! My apologies." Aelfric said, before approaching the wife of the sailor Beoric. He gave her a hug, before saying, "How are you?" "I am well, yes." Adelaide responded, "Albeit a bit worried about Beoric. He's out on the seas and all that fighting the good fight against the Dread Empire." "He'll be fine, Adelaide. The Spirit is protecting him." She offered a nod.
Aelfric soon greeted the children of the two couples. The shaking of hands, hugs, laughs, and hellos. They soon moved to the dining table.
"The chicken is wonderful. And the bread too I have come to notice. My nephew, the Duke of Vlissinghelm? He would love this. Of course, sadly, I can't bring it with me for him to try, pahaha! Would get cold and stale. Nothing like fresh bread." Wulfric responded, "Oh, yes! House Harhold. How are they?" "They are well. Hengest is leading the Inquisition and running his lands well as he always has. A truly faithful man. Agatha is doing well as a Baroness. Always busy. She will grow to be a well known name at Court I imagine. In fact, already is. She has done very well for herself. I am quite proud of her. And my other niece, Haeddi. She was attacked recently, however she is recovering. A shame truly, but it has not affected her kind hearted nature. She is already doing well herself, socializing with the Nobility and all that. I am sure she will be just like her sister, very successful. Aethelric is doing well for himself. A strong and kind young man. His father is already starting him in the daily duties of a Harhold which he has to look forward to in his future. I believe he will do well. And my strong fighter, my nephew Eadwald, is out on the front serving the Spirit. They are all truly wonderful. Too bad you all can't meet them. But perhaps in the future." Adelaide responded, "Yes! I would love to meet them." The table agreed, except for a quiet Jean.
As they soon finished, the younger children by the standards of the family who were in their twenties or teens assisted Aelfric, Wulfric, and Telona up the stairs as the rest of the family followed. "It has been a lovely night." Aelfric said, "I am so happy to be here. I'll be awake early in the morning for mass. I hope you all shall join." The group nodded with an, "Aye!" From Wulfric. Aelfric soon nodded to the group, with a, "Spirit Bless." Receiving the same from those present. He was soon assisted to his room by a servant who helped him into his night wear and into bed. With such, Aelfric blew out the candle, patted the head of Chance, his Anglian Shepherd who ly by his side, and went to sleep.

OOC Note:
Hello! Firstly, thank you for reading. Currently I am on vacation and my excuse for Aelfric's absence is that he is in Anglia visiting his Verwaltung. In the latter hours of today I got bored since I wasn't doing much so I decided to write a lore story of how Aelfric is doing in Anglia! I hope you enjoyed the lore story and I would like to say sorry for the limited decoration on the post. Wrote this on an IPad so there is only so much you can do. Have a good day!
