THE FEATS OF ELDERS

[The following is written in Modern Altalar, except for the blue sections which are transcribed in Olt'vven.]

"...and unto you, mine Children, the Master of Magnificence bestows His Gift, that your Majesty may remain Paramount…"

These are the words of our Allmother to the first Empress of old Allorn, at the birth of our Elder Faith, promising the Highborne of Aloria their boons and aid, that we may become the apex of civilisation and finesse. Yet, two-hundred score years later, we exist betwixt the brick houses and cathedral towers of a younger people- a lesser people. We frequent their bawdy establishments, drink their inferior wines, eat their poor foods- some of us even speak with their dismal language, forgoing the truth and beauty of fair and proper speech for crude slang that hurts the ear. Where here are the standards that make us so renowned abroad?

We, the Magn'Altalar, have allowed ourselves to fall, that even those amongst us have come to scorn those pillars of enlightened thought and behaviour that once allowed us to build an empire that spanned a continent. We, the Est'alorn, have allowed the weight of a less-civilised tide to press us into conformation with baser instinct and behaviour. No longer.

My name is Mhaí-rona Vhaal'elessonai noso Eao-Talovas á Hyärra elas Talar Varnë. I am one amongst many Hammers of Sca'Elle in the Principality of Hyärra, yet unique in the City of Regalia, a single of only few that may produce the blessed heritage-steel gifted to us by the Smith-god Sca'Elle- Nightsilver. Once, Nightsilver was borne by the great heroes and champions of the Allorn age; suits of glittering scale, blades shining with the night stars. Now, I have seen this symbol of our culture borne more often by brigands and barbarians of unrelated blood than by those it was intended for all those years ago. No longer.

"...for He maintained His Discipline, that the Fury of Tal'Sieth not be upon Him and the Blessing of Sca'Elle not be wasted…"

However, the virtues of the Highborne are not entirely lost; to those who still profess these values, I raise a challenge- the Feats of Elders. These Feats shall test the limits and endurance of the true Est'alorn beyond solely the physical. Each Feat operates as an unfulfilled, open Vaïel Promise, requesting action in return for an item of equal value upon redemption. The Feats are as follows, and may only be redeemed by an Altalar:

The Feat of Reclamation:
Action: Bring a Nightsilver item taken from a non-Altalar to Vhaal at his forge.
Reward: The reforging of said item into a piece of the redeemer's choosing, within the limitations of the material available.
[OOC Note: I will be verifying that any Nightsilver brought to Vhaal is obtained ICly and from characters who also obtained it ICly.]

The Feat of Ascendance:
Action: Secure a place of high employment, including but not limited to governmental positions, as well as noble advisorship and guarding. Redeemers will be expected to justify why this is a high position.
Reward: A Nightsilver weapon of the redeemer's choosing, engraved with Olt'vven scripture.

The Feat of Excellence:
Action: As a Mage, defeat another Mage of any race in an organised, legal battle.
Reward: A Nightsilver ring engraved with Olt'vven scripture; a Nightsilver circlet will be offered if the defeated Mage is another Altalar, or after five wins.

The Feat of Commendation:
Action: Achieve great relevance in the eyes of the Regalian public without sacrificing Altalarin virtues or values.
Reward: An open-faced Nightsilver bascinet helm engraved with Olt'vven scripture in traditional Allorn style.

The Feat of Overcoming:
Action: Challenge and defeat an opponent in an area they would otherwise be supreme in. Examples include defeating Url or Orcs in feats of strength, or beating a Varran in a race, but are not limited to these.
Reward: A Nightsilver bracer engraved with Olt'vven scripture.

The Feat of Communion:
Action: Open and maintain an establishment of high class with a steady clientele of Altalar customers.
Reward: A piece of Nightsilver jewellery of the redeemer's choosing.
