Upon the day of February 23rd, 307 AC,

House van der Veer has been called by many a House to join in the Colonial Conflict, stating that the other side is immoral, unjust, and wrong in their convictions. Of course, both sides to this argument have worth within their own right. House Rote claims that the Northern Pact have been aggressive in the colonies, whilst Clan Blackjaw claims that the House Rote's actions are those of a warmonger and his attacks have been with the intent of land-grabbing. It has over these last few weeks kept me up at night wondering which side to join, if any.

In truth, House van der Veer wishes simply that the conflict did not exist. That the two sides could find peace, and unity, where we may send our troops westward to the true conflict of Regalia. Yet as House van der Veer has been recently informed, this is not possible. The war will continue, and countless citizens of the Empire will fall to one another, while our enemy grows stronger. With the war in the west raging on, we cannot afford to be divided among ourselves. This war must end, and swiftly, if we are to be united in our cause. I have been urged by both sides to join since the beginning, and my decision has finally been made.

The Veer must stand against the aggressor in this conflict, in order to defend the balance of power, defend the peace, and bring a swift end to this war. This decision was not easy to make, however, with recent events such as House Viduggla's "Regarding Matters in the Colonial Conflict" The decision has been made easier. We urge both sides, aggressor and defender, to search for a diplomatic solution to this conflict. We urge both sides, Rote and Blackjaw, to search for a way to end the discord. We urge all within the conflict to cease the fighting, so that we, the defenders of Regalia, and the defenders of the Empire, may march upon our true foe in the west.

Upon hearing that Count Rote insisted on a ceasefire, but was unwilling to make a peace, it is only ever so clear that he bides for time and hopes that his enemies will grow weaker, to continue his petty war in the colonies. It is with heavy-heart that House van der Veer joins this fight, but it is with the grit and determination of our people that we will see this fight to an end. The Gryphon and Crossed-Hammers will soon be accompanied by the Black Dredger.

Signed with a heavy-heart,

Harric van der Veer
Baron of the Veer
Baron of Valdepoort
Baron of Norreck
Defender of the Veer
Commander of the Companies.

Leopold Rote glanced over the announcement, scoffing slightly in distaste of its contents. "A baron of the Anglian Veer who claims to be zealous decides to join forces with Old Gods scum in opposition of good Unionist men. His lack of understanding of our side shows well that he took no time to consider the threat our lands were under when the Velheimers begun their rapid expansionist conflict on Unionist soil."

Abelhard Rote sits incredibly confused from his office;

"I'm literally being invaded by three armies, two of which assaulted and butchered Unionist lives. His men even rallied to my call to Colonial arms, and yet he is going to use them against me? What? Is this van der Veer touched in the head? I also offered peace, and then the Baron complicated the matter by implicating two other houses into the conflict. I offered the ceasefire to delay negotiations to extend to the other families that were threatening to invade me and remaining hidden. This entire proclamation makes no lick of sense."

Later that day he would seek out Hengest Harhold at his estate, poking his head into the Grand Dukes office and delivering the message.

"Grand Duke~ I have something that you would love to see."

He waves the van der Veer proclamation about and plants it for Hengest to see.

Enzo Celso didn't read the whole proclamation like everyone before him, but even if he did, he still would think that this proclamation was written by a moron.
