"Gold is easy to come by, true wealth lies in relics" -An excerpt from Claire d'Anjou's speech at the founder's meeting of the Curio Collectors
Formed in 307AC by Claire d'Anjou, the Curio Collectors are a (storyweb) group of likeminded criminals out to steal artifacts, paintings, or other historical relics, whether magical or mundane in nature. The group favours subterfuge in order to achieve their goals, rather than force. All members would be aware of the following stages of a plan the Collectors always use to achieve their goals:
1. Reconnaissance
2. Infiltration
3. Acquisition
4. Disappearance
The Following is Only Available to those Characters that have graduated from the School of Undercroft or Vilestate.
"I pledge to aid in the weakening of the Regalian state, so that crime may flourish" -Oath taken at the Hallonq Conference
In 300AC, many teachers, graduates, and students of the School of Understate met at the Hallonq Conference, as it would be called, in order to discuss the problems facing all large criminal organizations. While it seems unlikely that a great number of criminals would be able to ignore their suspicions and all gather in one place, there are those who would swear it did. Of course, since no one in attendance would ever reveal the existence of such an event, there is no proof of this meeting ever taking place and it could have been entirely made up. Who knows?
The meeting was, of course, a trap and some of those who attended were killed before they could escape. However, most of the survivors met up afterwards and decided to go ahead with the meeting anyway, even though the whole idea had been a setup in the beginning. At the end of the conference, the Understate Destabilization Force was created, designed to combat the growing control of the Regalian State over its colonial holdings, which made large-scale criminal organizations more prone to being destroyed. The contract was a verbal one only, as to not leave a paper trail and it is unknown whether anyone who pledged to join the Force actually followed through. (Or again, whether this actually happened to begin with)
One lesser-known member at the meeting, Claire d'Anjou, went on to return to Regalia and after some time, established the Curio Collectors as a cover for upholding the agreement. While certainly out to gain treasure and rewards, the aim is to cause chaos in the area that they steal from. This both aids them in stealing the artifacts and forced the government to divert resources to fix the problem.

OOC:
This crime storyweb is about being sneaky and tricky. Characters that are combat-focused will not be accepted, as they don't fit the theme.
