THE BLACKJAW CLAN
History
Like many Dwarves, they are well-known for their incredibly crafted weapons and armour, not to mention their wealth of knowledge and talent when it comes to the act of smithing. However, it is not this that the Blackjaw Clan are known for… they are a proud line of warriors, for generations. They've been known throughout history as brave combatants against the Dakkar and Isldar, felling hundreds by their namesake and in more recent years, as wandering mercenaries in any realm that one might find cold during winter (withstanding Hadar, of course).
The homeland charter of Humboldor was settled by the current patriarch's father, Meldohgar Blackjaw who is believed to have recently died in combat at the Hold of Alduin. It is through his service in various Regalian wars as a mercenary that he managed to amass a small fortune, one large enough however, to purchase land in Hadar to be turned to a blast mine. Upon finding a wealth of gems in this land, he grew ever wealthier before finally being awarded permission to found a home-charter Barony, alongside the various eastern colonies.
Lands
Humboldor itself is very similar to the Dwarven holds of old. Keeps, holds, forts and mines dot the landscape, carved into sheer mountains and cliffsides, but with a notable Highlander and Velheim immigrant population—the vast majority, however, remains Dwarven. With these Highlanders and Velheimers came their way of life too, settlements, albeit small, cropped up on the surface with quite a number of ma and pa geep farms forming around the entrances of holds. Over time, these have become bustling trade capitals, at least within the charter.
Those to have visited Humboldor's capital, Thöm Moldur, which roughly translates to 'Hold of Meldoghar' are blessed with witness to quite the marvel. The capital Hold bustles with people to the brim, and structures that appear from a distance to stand on spindling wooden legs hang off of the mountain, which docks a variety of airships that come in and out of it's 'ports', endearingly termed 'airports'.
