The Baleford Family

History

It was entirely unclear where the first Baleford had originated from, how long it had been since they settled in Anglia or indeed, whether they originated from there originally.
The earliest recorded mention of the name came from tax papers dated close to one-hundred years ago, with the name 'Elric Baleford' noted in place.

From then on did the name grow within Anglia. By no means were they well known outside of the local farming community, but within they were known for their hard work and their consistent supply of wheat and varying crops. Elrics wife, Mathilda- who had been married in from a neighbouring family, grew her own name by way of baking and cooking. As such, both of these skills were passed on and taught to their small army of children. Five children they had until the six was lost along with Mathilda in childbirth.

Each of the children were taught valuable skills to take with them- to spread throughout the community. Some were taught combat, and some were taught cooking. Every individual child of Elrics was raised to focus on something which made them unique, resulting in a plethora of skills and abilities.
Eventually, each child married, and the Baleford family began to grow again.

Nowadays, the Balefords are found throughout varying places within Regalia. Most keep themselves within the farmlands they know, either owning their own or otherwise being married into other families. The newer generations did not confine themselves to the Anglian area, and instead might move off to different continents, but their farming background was ingrained in their minds, and they often sought out suitable places to grow their own farmland.

As a standard to ensure that the family remain profitable, it was tought to the children at a younger age that they needed to hone in on a skill they loved, and use that to help benefit their family. As a collected, they came across as a jack of all trades type family, though there were limits to their skillsets.

The Balefords could not afford schooling, and as such the children were often raised with limited literacy and numeracy skills. They also lacked an understanding of politics, the military, or the arts. Pottery and tailoring were perhaps the only two art-based skills that found their way into the Baleford households.

Very few of the family travelled unless they looked to relocate, and it was uncommon to find a Baleford outside of Anglia. Those who visited Regalia usually looked to build trade relations with the peerage or citizens, or looked to make purchases.
