The Accusers were a lesser known and extremely niche group situated in small pockets of Dragenthal around 226AC born of the political turmoil the region experienced, standing for a few vaguely liberal ideals, such as more rights for the working man, the protection and encouragement of business, as well as the easing of racial subjugation. Working out of the Drachenwald for a short decade, they faded into extremely obscure Heartland history, hardly mentioned if at all from those years onward. However, in recent history, a gang established in the Old Town of the Crown Isle seems to have picked up the name.

Established by unknown parties in the year 223AC, The Accusers were known to fight for causes intangible and idealistic, and many criticized their actions for being too optimistic to be able to come to fruition so quickly. They became relegated to being known as common banditry thugs, though it soon came to light that they didn't act any old pauper crossing through the Drachenwald, but rather well-off merchants or those they deemed as slimy, many even citing that they denounced people "for their sins".

Despite what some small villages in the northeast of Dragenthal considered terror, next to no written recordings exist of the groups deeds. All of what happened is passed down through oral folklore, if one could even call it that. Many speculations of the groups power came from whisperings or arcane doings in the forest, saying that they had the ability to cast thunderstorms whenever they were about to strike as to disorient their enemies, though whether it just so happened their ambushes occurred in a storm or it was planned is a much more accepted coincidence.

It's said that around 249AC, the two leaders of the group disappeared and distanced themselves from the insurgent cell. This metaphorically cut the head from the snake and, as a result, it quickly dissolved into a mess of ideals clashing and no one to hold them back. Thus, they became common bandits, fighting for a sinful cause. The name of the group was barely spoken of from that point on, phasing out of memories and hearts just as quickly as it came. Now, in the summer of 307AC, Wesley Crawford, naming himself Prince of Accusers, picks up the mantle and intends to carry through the same idealistic convictions.

After the advent of the Militia and the emergence of the Manathar, the Accusers recessed into a force to defend the Gate to the Inner Realm and nothing more. Shortly after, Wesley Crawford (AKA Astaroth) disappeared from the public eye. Most of the members scattered to the wind to pursue their own endeavours; and within half a year, Wesley Crawford returned to the Holy City to light the flame of the Accusers anew in the name of peacekeeping those who need protecting most.

Traditionally, The Accusers were dead-set as a democratic elective group. However, the most recent iteration has become more authoritarian; the Prince of Accusers has the final say, though he is expected to listen to his peers with the utmost respect, especially the Hand of Justice- a second in command that helps the Prince deal with issues as they come, filtering the importance of each issue. Every member is seen to be treated with the same kind of respect, though hints of a meritocratic system are in place, the Prince usually seeing those as more useful to the group as more valid in their opinions.

The Accusers live by an interpretational set of tenants. They're only specifically written for the purpose of interpretation, leading to varying mindsets in the group and a wide diversity of loyalists. These tenants however are only flexible to a point, and are thought to put people on a morally good path.

[1] All life is sacred. Killing should be avoided whenever necessary, and only as a last resort for the truly evil and unredeemable.

[2] Absolute evil is not the same as a necessary evil. Sometimes evil must be undertaken as a prerequisite for a good outcome, but the method should be closely observed and another way should always be looked for.

[3] Fight for the Just, be the Just, and defend the Just. Do not commit injustice, to do harm without cause is the basis of corruption, and is a dark path that leads to destruction.
