However, the infant is kidnapped by Kathars. The Kathars perform a Dread Possession on Syriel, transforming her into a Kathar. From here, Syriel grows up, oblivious of her true race. Her mother perishes during a gang war. Childhood: Syriel began to take interest in magicians' abilities. She often watched her father perform magic tricks out on the streets. The public, and the vampiric parts of the city, reject the Brood for her half-vampire status. The Ailors deem her as part of the infestation, while the vampires look down on Syriel for her inability to truly become a full-blooded sanguine. Syriel develops an affinity for birds, such as the Nimbinoldor. The Brood also takes interests in watching swordplay on the streets, but does not partake until much later in her life. Much of the crime and gang presence has left an influence on Syriel, who finds herself a rag-tag clique of street urchins. Adolescence: Subconsciously following under their mother's footsteps, Syriel soon joins a gang and becomes involve with its debauchery and violence. The presence of the crimes dulled the Brood's shock to the bloodshed. She grew desensitized to the concept of cruelty. Syriel finally takes interest in swordplay, and invests her time in training with the blade. She values speed over damage. The Brood grew to enjoy a more aggressive style of fighting, deciding to use two blades at once. Her father perishes at the hands of Ailor men for his sanguine status. With a lack of a guiding figure, Syriel delves further into the crime scene, turning further cold and disconnected with their own humanity. While invading a slum shack at night, Syriel gets her first taste of blood. Adulthood: Now an adult, fully immersed with the crime scene, Syriel takes up more aggressive and dangerous jobs such as break-ins, threats, beatings, and assassination. She hones their skills as a warrior and take pride in their own martial prowess. Finding her father's Phade gauntlet in a locked chest within their house, Syriel's interest for magician spells rekindles and ignites. Instead of learning spells for entertainment, the Brood decides to learn what would be beneficial for combat. She seeks out for other magicians in the city and receive lessons. She continues her profession, until the Bone Horrors completely devastate the population. One of the competing gangs seize control over Hallonq. Now with her back against the wall, Syriel flees the city before gang members could kidnap her. Syriel travels across the continent with a caravan. She provided protection by offering her services as a caravan guard. The Brood travels through Andalon, then finally travels to Basqlierra by foot. Accompanying a client as a bodyguard, Syriel travels to Regalia and completes her job. Present: Syriel is exorcised, but is transformed back into an Isldar. She currently struggles with what to do. After being introduced into the Isldar safe haven, Syriel takes time to reflect about her life choices and decisions. She denounces Frisit and becomes a Partisan.
