It hasn't been going any direction. There's been no mention of further development, releasing new words, balancing, or anything in months. The plugin isn't even fully implemented yet.
Plugin seems to be dead in the water. Kaezir appeared to be the only one interested in implementing it, and he's not staff now so...

It is fully implemented. What isn't implemented is the full quest island to earn the words.
It's not your fault if you didn't catch it, but before I left staff I got the question a lot and to put it simply, other more important things such as the recent festival were decided to be more important, understandably so. That is probably still very well the case with the stuff being done in factions.

Guess I mis-worded it a bit, by "implemented" I meant all the words being released/all the recipes available etc. I know the whole plugin is on the server.
I definitely understand there being other priorities, but Massivemagic feels like it's just been forgotten about, and there's been no communication. I was super excited when it came out, but now I'm just stuck with a few handfuls of random words that still need balancing, and not a whole lot to do with them.

What still needs to be done besides interesting ways to get more words?
This plugin was a huge investment in time and manpower. It's really sad to see it languishing unused.
With something like 50 staff members, how is this not a higher priority for.. somebody, anybody?
It's something I would be willing to put time into if it's within my means. Put me in coach! I'm ready to prestidigitate!

what about the work Monmarty was suppose to do for factions. Seen a lot of lore post lately but not so much factions.

I can assure you Factions has also not been forgotten. As for MonMarty's work on it, I am unsure of everything he has in mind but I do know that he has IRL obligations that has kept him busy throughout the end of 2017.
