It is verity that in this city our numbers have resurged; that we may count among us again many friends and allies, and that for a brief moment amidst the din of battle and suffering we have found peace and respite. This does not mean that we should shut our eyes and ears to the world around us, but it does remind us of an ancestral lesson: there are times to be restful, and feel warmth and comfort, but to be vigilant and not complacent in that breath of calm. In order to facilitate this rest, by wish and guidance of the Duchess Avalorn it has been decreed that there is to be an evening of dance, song, and enjoyment held in the Metlalaan: alongside tidings from the warfront, and a brief vigil in remembrance of those of our kind who perished rising against their Dread occupiers. This event is not exclusive: those who consider themselves friends of the Altalar may come and join in; but it must be remembered by whose grace they rejoice, and it is asked that they remain respectful and complacent for the duration of the proceedings. Disturbances will be frowned upon. In terms of a dress code, there is only this: one should bring one's best. Dressing formally is heavily encouraged, in clothes of ballroom fashion, if one is able. Food and drink will be provided for all, and aspirant musicians are encouraged to write the Duchess for a chance to perform alongside her own. It would be appreciated if all those attending would write the Duchess beforehand so she could set out an appropriate amount of food, and locate a fitting number of tables. This event is in a week's time.
