Ryuko was born in the rough volcanic kingdom of Huo-Chang. As a part of the "Hanada" family, he was expected to be perfect. An adept swordsman, seasoned strategist, and master blacksmith. Years of harsh training and enduring the searing pressure of the forge steadily left Ryuko burnt-out. He grew tired of the life that was forced upon him, tired of his creations only serving to fuel the flames of violence and war. One day, with new-found indifference, he threw caution to the wind and left it all behind.
With his homeland of Huo-Chang disappearing on the horizon behind him, Ryuko sat aboard a ship set sail for Dexai. A kingdom of dreamers and opportunists, bringing forth a more modernized culture with Western influence! As the ship docked at Dexai, Ryuko was stunned by just how vastly different the atmosphere was from the blazing prison he knew till now. Not a hint of ash in the air, no putrid petroleum smell stinging his nostrils, and the people actually seemed alive, not at all like walking stone walls. For the first time in years, Ryuko felt his heartbeat accelerate in excitement. As he strolled around and absorbed all the unique sights and information, he stumbled upon a Garden.
The climate of Ryuko's homeland made it next to impossible for much life to grow, the only source of green he had known being from Jade minerals. Yet here in this beautifully constructed garden thrived various lush green plants and colorful flowers! A serene sanctuary to heal his weary soul. It felt like time had stopped, something within him just clicked into place. This was it; this is what he was meant to do, the craft to truly dedicate himself towards. Not forging sharp blades meant to pierce flesh and bring death, but creations teeming with life!
