Player DM Helper Permissions are a system that falls somewhere between a Custom Kit Permission, and a Helper/Lore Staff Rank. It is designed for players who want to host canon events in Massivecraft's universe, while being afforded more tools to do so than what is usually available to players. Massive's Ability System and the sub-function Advanced Roleplay Mechanics are written with strict rules so that they can be fairly applied to all players without need for direct DM/Staff oversight in any given situation. However, this does limit the kinds of events players can host, especially when it comes to CRP versus monsters or NPC event creatures. To accommodate this, Lore Staff created Player DM Helpers as a "middle ground" for players who are invested in running their own events, but are not interested in joining Lore Staff.

Because Player DM Helpers are afforded extra rules and allowances, and because any event they host is functionally "stamped and signed off on" by Lore Staff by virtue of the position, it has much stricter requirements than both Custom Kits and the normal Lore Staff Helper Role. At a baseline, Player DM Helper applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Applicants must be 18+ years of age.
  2. Applicants must be upstanding members of the community: they must have a clean punishment record, must not act rudely towards other players, or be exclusionary.
  3. Applicants must be willing to, and capable of, working with Lore Staff on a semi-regular basis: checking in with Lore Staff about any questions they may have, confirming event plans, and discussing any problems they might have or need help with.
  4. Applicants must be willing to ensure that their events are canon compliant to Massivecraft's Lore, but a step further than that, they must also be willing to ensure that their events follow the "spirit" of Massive's Lore. What this means is, they must be willing to discuss with Lore Staff what the intended goal is of a certain part of lore, and do their best to have their events reflect this. For example, if the "spirit" of the town of Morgenwend (a small hamlet on the outskirts of the Capital) is that it is a quiet, sleepy village, that for the most part has low-impact events happen to it (ex. A local murderer, a single beast or creature of no significance attacking it, a mundane illness sweeping the town, etc), then a Player DM Helper should not host an event where a Greater Demon suddenly invades and takes over the town. Alternatively, if Lore Staff establishes that the "spirit" of the Imperial Family House Kade is that they do not have any severe skeletons in their closet, a Player DM Helper should not run an event where a bunch of escaped prisoners reveal that House Kade has kept them captive to use their blood for dark rituals. It is important to note that we do not expect players to know the Lore in and out, but what we require is that you are willing to ask questions to learn, and confirm things before making decisions.
  5. Applicants must be capable of conforming to Massive's "DM Style," meaning: they must use a generalized set of rules that Lore Staff DMs use, they must be willing to put the enjoyment of other players first, and absolutely must not use their DM position to their own personal (or their friends' personal) benefit, ICly, or OOCly. This includes the opposite, such as trying to make players they don't like look bad, or give them a poor experience, or generally exclude players from their events. Lore Staff will strictly moderate the behavior of DM Player Helpers, to ensure there is no abuse of position/privileges.
In exchange, Player DM Helpers are granted the following benefits:
  1. Events run by Player DMs are always "canon," and are not restricted to Private RP rules wherein they cannot be discussed outside of the Event.
  2. During Events, Player DMs can make any adjustments they'd like to the Ability System to create Event Monsters or NPCs, and can even request that these Abilities be added to the Plugin before their event. This does not follow Advanced RP Mechanics rules, meaning there is no requirement for other players to consent to it, and no upper limit on the amount of players who can take part in it.
  3. During Events, Player DMs can create NPCs that have access to powers and abilities Player Characters cannot, pursuant Lore Staff approval.
  4. Events run by Player DMs have access to a number of Lore Staff NPCs and figures of authority (pursuant agreement/permission by Lore Staff) that they can request appear, or be involved in some way.
  5. Events run by Player DMs can have rewards (deeplore, resources, etc) that normal Player Events cannot have (pursuant Lore Staff approval, however, this should be considered rare).
  6. Player DMs can request Staff Actors to assist with their events, in a direct channel. Lore Staff may not always be available to help, but we will do our best to help out where we can.
Player DM Helper Applications are reviewed on Sunday at the Lore Staff meeting. Responses are delivered via Tickets in the Massivecraft Community Discord (so be sure to allow DMs from accounts within the Discord). If you have any questions about the system, DM the Ticket Bot in the Massivecraft Community Discord.
