Rings Of An Evergreen

Joasaie was relaxing in their home in Regalia, enjoying the comfort of the living room's furnishings and the warmth from the fire. It was a rarity that they could do this lately, always being called on for the Shield or Alchemia. The Yanar's mind drifted in the silence, memories coming to the forefront of their thoughts.

A blink, and they were back in Daenshore, having turned twenty and determined to finally learn how to fight. Their mother didn't want that life for her child, but Joa's words had quieted the elder. "It's my job to protect. That's what a Yanar is. I want to protect those I cherish, no matter what pain I face. It's my choice, let me go down the path I'm willing to walk, knowing of the challenges ahead of it."

Blink. The scene was hastened, showing the training they went through with their teacher; training to use an atraves but not to harm, to defend. The perfect weapon for their goal. Balancing on poles with objects thrown at them, learning to evade and bide their time rather than attack outright.

A sip from the glass of wine the Yanar had and they were in Ithania, years later. Singing and playing their violin to a crowd of a tavern, bright smile lighting up the interior as their flow of lyrics entranced the patrons. A final note and bow receiving applause, coins placed happily in a already filling bowl on the stage.

A cheerful smile formed to Joasaie's face at the happy times, a small laugh escaping as well. However, the smile was soon wiped away, already knowing what had come next. They never knew their return to Daenshore would be at the time of the Horrors, rotting flesh and bone pulled together into abominations. Those that could protected to the best they could against these monsters, Joasaie included, but one by one they were slowly killed, not able to truly keep the creations back until the day they suddenly stopped coming back, the day their comrades did not rise to join the enemy's ranks. Their grip nearly shattered the glass as they could practically hear the sounds of fighting, of death; their emotions dropping with the silence that followed.

The Yanar took a deep breath, forcing that group of memories away to be replaced with the new ones, in their new home. Meeting Katrina, becoming her sibling and pushing eachother to keep rising, even if the Isldar was unable to match her new family member's personality. Becoming a d'Vaud houseguard, ending up with friends both commoners and nobles, the latter still surprising to Joasaie.

The images changed, now showing when they were welcomed into Alchemia, meeting the Haavens, Amrynn, Cassian, Ztril, seeing them as another family. Leaving the houseguard to become a Vigilant Shield with Katrina, rising to be a Shield Oberst. Finding a sort of grandfather role in Asterion, a very old Yanar who liked to speak in a sometimes confusing way, always smiling. Adopting two Yanar twins, lights that always shined brightly. Fighting against, of all things, Arken and a dragon, actually winning despite the disbelief of the events being real.

Crash! Joasaie jolted from the lane of memories, a yell coming up from the kitchen, "I didn' do it! I didn' do anythin'! Ya stupid plant fox did it!", that earned a exasperated shake of their head and a small laugh. Ah Va'al, who knew a Yanar and Shenath could end up as such close friends, roommates at that. The younger of the two was difficult at first, practically hating eachother, but the impulsive offer from Joasaie of getting drinks at the Willow had put them on a better path. No regrets were to be had on it, even if Va'al thought it was necessary to put holes in the couch for fun or forget that manners existed.

The Yanar got up from the couch, finishing their drink as they made their way towards the kitchen below, already expecting a mess and guilty Shenath to be there. They were happy, and they wouldn't trade the life they gained for anything. A smile still etched to their face as they yelled back, "I know it wasn't Zon, Va'al! He's not even here! You better already be trying to clean that up or you're getting a cane swung at you!"

That was cute >w>
One thing I suggest is putting different character's dialogue to another colour. Both because it pops out from the bulk of the text and it also shows some of the personality! :3

(like, Laz is always yellow/blue and Enzo is orange, for example)

Hope that helps!
