A piece of parchment would be stamped up against a nearby wall. It was tightly bounded down with a nail wedged into the crux of its surface. Dripping with raw residual polish and messy ink, it would read;

In need of peace and redemption, will pay handsomely to those invested!

"I, 'Avis' Cordol, am currently seeking to redeem mineself and gain penance following the recency of mine own darkest deeds. To which, after living through the lifestyle I hath currently brandished, I am unable to continue on this pathway. As a result, I am asking the Regalain society and ministries to offer mineself a chance to serve this city again, so that I may keep mineself afloat."

"I wilt take any community jobs offered and courses to train mineself as a more beneficial component of those wilting to assist in mine own causes to overcome addictions and other manners of festering anger towards this city. That, and I am completely broke at the moment, due to a recent mugging last night [at least that I recall]."

"If any art interested, pen a letter or just find mineself."

All donated funds will be used in propelling the alchemical services of Cordol Industries.

Mister Avis Cordol,

This notice is in response to your most recent posting. Naturally, we should account for all things I find you in need of penance. However, regardless of the acts where each reduced to non-repetition, this list would be brief. These acts include actions against the peerage during the Occupation, where I had to chase you from the camp under threat of maiming. In addition, you have failed to keep yourself from assaulting the lawful and commoner on a near-weekly, if not multiple times during the week. However, your latest included retaliatory action against Metro Sergeant Valloaan. Were you robbed? No. Your effects were deprived of you and left, thereby securing the scene's safety; this was, of course, following your attempted assassination of the Sergeant and cooperation with a Kathar Sanguine - whose name is unknown to me. How was this act attempted? The Sanguine sprung a trap that the Sergeant nor I were ready against. While the archers on the scene did not have a shot at the Kathar when Avis appeared, he was allowed to take the correct action. Instead - he deprives the Sergeant of his weapon and seeks harm while the Kathar overpowers the Sol. Then, under my orders, the archers opened fire on Mister Cordol- with the threat accounted for, we gained access to Sol Valloaan, subdued Mister Cordol, and healed the Sol of grave wounds.

Dear Public,

Mister Cordol, in the words of even the Metropolitan, is ill of mind and has thus far demonstrated that they cannot make the right choice and only incorrect action. Therefore, while I cannot make a demand of the Metropolitan, I request that they consider permanent holding until such a time that Mister Cordol can pass medical screening.

Respectfully,
Revna av Jorrhildr
Baroness of Sortland,
Vassal of House Nordhjem.

From the Desk of Celerial-Lord Morathes

My lord has asked a note me penned that with his personal experiences at the hands of Mr. Cordol. Especially in the crisis when attempts to heal his facial wounds were meet with Mr. Cordol attempting to bite and claw him. The Celate fully agrees with this intiative and desires to ensure this man is properly checked and remanded to the state if found incapable of self-control.

A separate response was listed directly below Baroness Revna's, written and printed on a pristine white piece of parchment with the signature seal of House Valloaan.

A BEGGAR'S PLEA AND THE SYMPATHIZER
This is not the first beggar's plea from Mister Avis Cordol's mouth after he's found himself in quite the predicament. In the time after the Vampire Crisis, Mister Cordol similarly begged for chance after chance seemingly to no avail -- and for good reason. Just mere weeks ago on the 13th of April, Mister Cordol arrived at the Pale Flame Lounge (owned and ran by my Vassal-Baroness Sol-Ma'ess Cassintojei) to threaten and harass those within. Eventually, this spiraled into a battle involving dangerous alchemical components that grievously wounded both himself and Sol-Ma'ess Cassintojei, knocking out a window and causing damages to the interior of the building. Directly after this seeming assassination attempt, Mister Cordol was sentenced to Unionist Celate guidance, which unfortunately, seemed to be for naught.

Last night on the 1st of May while I was on Checkpoint watch, Mister Cordol expressed his desire to enter the city. As a Constable and Sergeant of the State Metropolitan, my duties include searching those who both enter and exit Crookback as to prevent the transfer of contraband and illegal weaponry. I informed him that he would need to be searched, and thus came a slew of words ranging from excuses and insults, to accusations that I am in cahoots with Haqet who is the very same person who captured and threatened me with torture. I am not. After the denial of search and slew of bizarre accusations, I denied Mister Cordol's entry into the city. His response was to attempt his passage regardless and wield alchemy of unknown origin.

At this point, the scene had garnered attention from both the common populace and Peerage, though most notably from the recently appointed Inquestor, Countess-Elector Dragic. She inquired about the situation and what laws Mister Cordol had broken to result in his refusal of passage. I informed her that, should he pass into the city without search and approval, the laws in question would be low law 9 (stemming from his words) and low law 10 (stemming from his actions). To my disappointment, though not my shock, Inquestor Dragic attempted to abuse her privilege to release Mister Cordol into the city without search after he had blatantly disregarded the safe and secure checkpoint requirements put in place by the State Metropolitan. I denied her request, as the law clearly states:

Attempting to break out of prison, assisting another to break out of prison, or otherwise obstructing guards in their duties is illegal. Titleholders may release Common Law criminals from prison or other punishment at will.

Mister Cordol was not being charged with the crimes mentioned as he had yet to pass into State Metropolitan jurisdiction. Though, to continue the absurdity, Inquestor Dragic proceeded to then approach the Checkpoint, and against my clearly stated advice, stepped onto the neutral bridge. Her reasoning was that she had a meeting with Mister Cordol that, evidently, could not be delayed, and that it would be my fault if she were to be put in harm's way. What could possibly be so important within that meeting that she be willing to ignore the advise of the State Metropolitan and approach Crookback anyway? The answer alludes me still.

The Inquestor later left with her wife, Baroness Dragic, at her side after she so kindly compared me to her toddler. Mister Cordol retreated back into Crookback.

Later that same evening, I had begun to wrap up Checkpoint watch duties when the gate mechanism failed and I was trapped on the bridge. A Katharic Sanguine, likely who had sabotaged the mechanisms, failed and initiated an attack on my person. The Baroness of Sortland, Revna av Jorrhildr and a Cielothar by the name of Tamsin attempted relieve the mechanism to no avail before helping me from where they could. It is to my knowledge that as I was staving off this fiend, Mister Cordol had wandered back onto the bridge to initiate his own attack on me before disarming me of my baton. He was subdued by the archers and unlike his claims, that is where he received his injuries rather than being robbed as he so wishes to claim. The appropriate measures in response to his actions are already in motion.

SUMMARY
First and foremost, I advise no member of the Peerage or common populace to donate monetary funds to Mister Cordol given his violent past and mental instability. Rather, I highly suggest those who wish to help Mister Cordol to instead fund mental and physical treatments as in this current point of time, he remains a safety concern to both himself and the populace.

Finally, I wish to remind the Peerage, specifically titleholders and those in positions of high authority, that abusing their privilege to release criminals from prison or punishment thereby will hold you legally accountable should the criminal commit further crimes. This is clearly stated in our codex for Noble Expections:

It should also be noted, that the Legal Code for Noble Expectations also covers the right for Titleholders to release Common Criminals from prison. If a Criminal was released and caused more damage to the state, the Titleholder who forced their release can be held accountable by a High Trial, and judged to face the same punishment as the criminal they released.
It is my advice not only as a fellow titleholder but as a dutiful member of the State Metropolitan that the titleholder be certain that whom they are releasing from prison is someone they believe they can personally have a hand in rehabilitating successfully and surely. This is not to be used to slight the guard(s) in question or make a statement, as the statement you make defending a miscreant is far greater than any personal grudge you want to make apparent.

Signed,
Count-Elector Laerilas Maslodeen Valloaan Bel-Sol Solleria-Tol Haag

OOC TL;DR AND TAGS
Laerilas says nono to funding Cordol Industries. Also another callout post to Dragics because lol drama

@Lionfiles @DocterDuck @3Euphoria3 @FlowerFran @Iyyiushi uhmmm... i think that's everyone

Aleksandra looks at the long announcement and says "Huh." She then moves on her way, not really caring to read it.

The Celate wakes up and sees Laerilas' response, "I should hope the Inquisitor reads this. Even I was not so foolish as to release a criminal without a chance of changing. Especially not on a whim or because it inconvenienced me let the Baroness also reflect on how insulting a guard is also a insult to Elia and Almar. After all the guards are the legally emplaced agents of the Emperor's law and defenders of the people."

He dresses and calls for a attendant, "I want my statement made public. I tire of watching Dogmatic peers act as if they've no commitment to sensible conduct. This is perhaps a secular matter but it reflects on us all the Inqusitior judging the ressurected would be so whimsical as to trust Mr. Cordol with her titled exemption.

We must not have any Inquisitor bring public condemnation for abuse of power — not after all those past monsters. Those blasphemers and beasts who abused such offices before in Regalia. Let us hope House Dragic has a reason for this."

These words were mostly typed up and distributed notable to House Dragic and Valloaan

It's "Inquestor" of the Palace, I hope you all know. Misspelling the name on purpose comes as an insult to not only me but the Crown itself. Please do not do such, as the role was appointed to me by His Imperial Holiness himself. I was attempting to speak with the man on terms about an Inquest in which I had already waited five hours but he was caught up in other business. The time was very late at night, around one. I don't have time for silly dramatics when I am only wishing to finish meetings and move on to the next. Honestly, I would not have cared if they let me speak with him there, and then let Mister Avis head back inside to Crookback. My only reason for responding is my disappointment in the misunderstanding and deliberate misspelling of my position name. Please take the time to actually read my guidelines and what my role is in this Holy Empire. You may not care however much I write, and instead continuously be against me and my views. I have written what I have done and that is why, I honestly do not care if you are angered.

The position name would be corrected in publications produced beyond this point.

The Slizzar, Eric Daevaar, find this notice on a not particularly pleasant morning, and attaches a copy of what may be found in his establishment, and authenticated with the crest of the Morbus Imperium apothecary and clinic.

"Doctor Cordol,

Perhaps I would be more willing to grant you such 'overtime' shifts if you even turned up to do your regular shifts. Alas, this is not the case and a lack of communication and work ethic have given me no reason to protect you from your own actions. Further more, due to the allegations against you as mentioned by Baroness Revna, and again, lack of reason to keep you for good work, your contract with the Morbus Imperium is here by terminated, effective immediately. You will also be blacklisted from any alchemical sales after reports of using alchemy to harm or harass others. Addendum - Any of your wages that were due for the past month and the following six, will instead be used to assist any you have caused harm to.

May the dragons guide you to correct your foolish ways,
Director Eric Daevaar"

Another notice is neatly posted just beneath House Dragic's curt response.

To the good INQUESTOR Dragic:
I am sad to see your reply that accuses the Lord-Celate Morathes of intentionally misspelling your appointed position's name for surely a man of faith should not be given such the harsh accusation of insulting a role given to you by the Crown. Though, I am confused that you accused me of the same. If you had carefully read through my letter (I even included a summary for lazy or tired eyes) then you would have seen that the Lord-Celate was, indeed, the only man who had fallen for the unfortunate confusion between Inquestor and Inquisitor.

Furthermore, I do not care about your backtracked schedules or the delays you unfortunately faced. It is your responsibility not only as an appointed member of the government but a member of the Peerage, a proper citizen, to carefully organize your schedule. Whatever convoluted nonsense you displayed at your impromptu meeting with Mister Cordol at the Crookback bridge was not my responsibility to mend for you.

The law is not made for your convenience and it never was, nor will be.

Best Regards,
Count-Elector Laerilas Maslodeen Valloaan Bel-Sol Solleria-Tol Haag

A hand-scrawled note, littered with doodles of flowers and smudged ink from the left-handed Silven, was pinned underneath the rest of the papers.

❀ An Archer's Account ❀

I find it important to give my input, after all the rest of those present have, given me being the only Commonfolk present beyond Mr. Cordol himself.

This being said, the events of the incident on the bridge were irrational, unnecessary, and horrid to witness, both by Inquestor Dragic and Avis Cordol. Mr. Cordol is a well-known and dangerous individual, through attempted maiming of Peerage to attempted murder of Commonfolk. I will, of course, admit, mistakes are common. Inquestor Dragic's hand-waving of Cordol's crimes was a mistake and an abuse of power-- Had she given it a thought, understood her error, and apologised to Sol-Ess Valloaan, I'd see no further issue.

However. She has doubled-down on her poor choices, endangering herself by speaking to Cordol (after, to be noted, several warnings by Sol-Ess Valloaan), and further insulting Sol-Ess Valloaan, as referenced above in His first response. Under Noble Law, I hope to see the Inquestor punished for Cordol's actions and dangerous nature, proven later that same evening during the sanguine incident.

Baroness Revna av Jorrhildr and myself fired on Mr. Cordol only after he aided the assailant, disarming Sol-Ess Valloaan and attempting to flee the encounter with said armament, only stopped by the Baroness and I's shots. This interference and disarmament gave the assailant the opening necessary to claw out the eye of Sol-Ess Valloaan (something I was only able to heal once Cordol had been apprehended by Baroness Revna av Jorrhildr).

I urge any to help in the payment for medical treatment for one Avis Cordol, to treat his blatant mental instability. I further urge any to understand the severity of the abuse of power committed by Inquestor Dragic, in so casually attempting to disregard unknown crimes of such a dangerous man for the sake of having her schedule inconvenienced.

I'd hoped a Crown appointed Inquestor would be better controlled in her power and polite to the Peerage-- Her letters posted here, as well as her words and actions that night, however, were and are less than thrilling to read, polite, reformed, or worthy of her position. I am, in all accounts, aghast that this woman would be entrusted by the Crown to any position of power, after seeing firsthand what she is morally willing to do for the sake of a singular meeting with a criminal.

Your humblest,
In warmest regards,
and as voice of the only Common-Folk present,
Yours,
T. Ilve.
