I was sitting at work and realized that, aside from religion, there aren't very many superstitious beliefs (such as throwing spilt salt over your shoulder) in roleplay.

So, my question is does Regalia have any special superstitions (i.e. superstitions that don't really fit outside of the game)?

If they do, what are they, and if not, what could some be?

Maybe the US penny thing? That'd be cool. If you saw a Regal on the ground face-up, it's good luck to take. Face-down, it's bad luck to take, to prevent bad luck you have to flip the other way so the next person gets good luck.

That one sounds fun! I knew about it, but didn't know about turning the penny over... I'll have to remember that next time I find one!

Honestly, I'm just trying to think of some because, when you think about it, having a bunch of superstitions makes sense for something set in medieval times, but it's something that people rarely ever use or think about.

Iron disspells ghosts and spirits.

Evil can't cross lines of salt.

Silver purifies, blah blah.

BLAH BLAH just go watch Supernatural.

A while back in a lore Q&A, I believe it was confirmed that black tigrans are considered bad luck to some (not to other tigrans, of course).
This is an interesting concept, however, as I know a few of my characters would believe in these (ironically, one of them would definitely be my black-furred tigran…). If there aren't any confirmed ones, who's to say we couldn't just list some here? After all, it would give characters something to feed off of, superstitious or not.

The sighting of a clown foretells a great and approaching doom.

Salt cleanses. It makes sense, because salt scares away slugs and leeches, which would be considered dirty.

Possums are omens of death. It makes sense, because their patterns resemble a skull. To a pirate, it means victory.

Seeing the moon during day time means bad luck, because back then they would have no idea what's going on.

Walking under flower clippings is bad luck.

Wearing only primary colors is bad luck.

Holding up rat tails/owning or wearing rat tails is offensive, like the middle finger.

There are a few superstitions that I know for sure:
  • Silveirall are evil.
  • Giant blood-sucking mosquitos (mekkephit bloodline) are bogeymen.

Here's a few I've heard of:
  • Full moon is also a 'fools moon' and people will act crazy on the day of one
  • Ravens and crows are usually bad omens
  • Staring into a cracked mirror is bad luck
  • Stating a wish outloud will bring bad luck as well
wow a lotta bad luck.

Spotting a tulip near an altar is an omen of a discovery that affects an inventor if you don't invoke a certain spirit.
