    The morning after the Anahera’s captured the southern lands, the Typhonus host finally made it’s way back to Regalia, speeding to Calemberg. The chosen place of engagement would be the large rolling hills in front of Calemberg itself, the Consortium forces holed up against the city walls with Freya Lo and Lenora Santorski at the gatehouse towers. Speeding ahead of the Typhonus army was the Lamperouge army, led by the wounded Tristan Lamperouge and supported by Malikar gro Arzuk and Rhoghash Ironmonger. As the morning unfolded on the battlefield, it appeared the Lamperouge army had turned coat and made it’s way to the Consortium walls offering their service. The Consortium accepted their entry and started deploying their troops together with the consortium troops on the fields in front of the walls. Tristan Lamperouge himself would meanwhile take position next to Freya and Lenora on top of the walls, well aware of what was to come, wounded on a recliner and with no way out.

    As soon as the battle lines formed up, the first cavalry charges were made between the armies. The Consortium army had swelled to 4000 troops with the Lamperouge's, while the Typhonus army was backed by 4400 troops. This was to become one of the largest battlefields on Regalian soil ever seen in history, and many families participated. The Nava, Coen and Oreisio armies were present to support Typhonus, while Thomas Kade held his personal retinues as supporters as well. The first cavalry charges were sent forward, showcasing Aron Santorski leading the Zastorzy cavalry against Thomas Kade and Typhonus’s Reiters. The Zastorzy cavalry crushed the first Typhonus cavalry units, proving once more that the Cavalry of the far north ruled the field. The Cavalry was quickly called back, followed by the Typhonus main line moving forward.

    As soon as the main line of the Typhonus troops were moments away from the front lines of the Consortium armies, the Lamperouge lines quickly turned to their left and shot with arrow and spear into the Consortium lines, making it clear they were actually traitors. The events unfolding on the battlefield before them had Lenora Santorski fling forward to the castle battlements, grasping onto the stone with her hands, before looking back to Freya with eyes beset with disgust. “We should never have trusted Coen’s lapdog!” But freya did not respond. Freya was already standing over Tristan Lamperouge with a vile look on her face, Tristan defenceless on the recliner. He seemed at peace with the situation, a content smile on his face as Freya plunged her dagger into his chest, over, and over, and over. While Freya was shrieking and making a whole barrage of beastial noises, Lenora composed herself and shot off a cannon on the side of her battlement loaded with fireworks, a signal to be heard and seen by her soldiers.

    The Typhonus army meanwhile was making headway into the Consortium ranks, the Consortium ranks being thoroughly confused about the betrayal of the Lamperouge forces were suffering heavy losses. Ulric Typhonus cheered the soldiers on as they rushed down the enemies, only to see the cannon fire from the walls. All of a sudden, all Consortium soldiers dropped to the ground covering their faces. The battle abruptly stopped, the Typhonus army stopping the fight thinking they had won and the Consortium surrendered. They started cheering, but quickly their folly was made apparent.

    Further down the battle line a Qadir mage formed a strong funnel of wind, pushing a single individual up in the air almost 50 feet off the ground. The Typhonus army looked on, confused as to what was going on, but it was already too late. The person carried up into the sky with the funnel suddenly conjured a massive bright flash of light in front of him, a searing white light almost ten times brighter than the sun. nearly the entire Typhonus army was blinded by the light, grabbing their eyes. Those closer to the source started screaming, but their screaming was not the only sound. The Consortium troops who had all taken refuge from the flash, stood up and started massacring the blind Typhonus troops. On the front lines, Jaak Keppkuula cut down soldiers upon soldiers, slashing his blade across William Kade’s chest first, knocking him to the ground and trampling him. Grey Drah’gon tried to defend himself against Hadrian Talbot but the Killikan was too fast with his shield and broke both Grey’s legs by smashing his shield into them. Grey was left screaming on the field until he and William were taken as prisoners. Thain Hiltan fought gloriously, despite being almost blind. He managed to save Ulric Typhonus by pulling him off the battlefield, meanwhile Ulric was still screaming from the sounds of his soldiers dying, however he was captured after hoisting Ulric on a horse and slapping the horse to run away. Thomas Kade managed to escape on his horse, unable to see the horse simply galloped away from the battle. Amber Averill fought bravely on the field, scimitar still striking people down while blind, but she eventually gave up and surrendered, still unable to see her assailants. The Orcs on the flanks meanwhile had a hard time. Malikar Gro Arzuk was brought down with several spear jabs. Rhoghash and Malikar however escaped as Rhoghash threw around smaller smoke bombs and explosives to distract the consortium troops, allowing Rhoghash to escape with the almost twice larger Malikar on his shoulder who had meanwhile lost consciousness. Aron Santorski was minorly wounded by this act, as one of Rhoghash’s bombs hit Aron’s horse, causing the horse to fall spraining his ankle. As Rhoghash looked back, his sight slightly restored, a single manly orc tear rolled down his cheek as he saw Kilain Thordal killing Lamperouge troops in the name of the Consortium.

    That day, nearly 4,000 Regalians died on the battlefield near Calemberg. The entire Lamperouge and Nava retinues were eradicated. The Coen, Oreisio and Thomas Kade’s hosts had only 100 troops left each, and Ulric escaped with 200. The 500 remaining troops fled to Praginn, after which the 100 Oreisio troops retreated to the County, while the Nava family returned home, without troops, thus leaving Typhonus with 200 troops and Thomas and William Coen each with 100 troops behind. The consortium had lost roughly 200 troops, most cavalry from Santorski and front line troops caught by surprise.

    In further summary, Tristan Lamperouge was declared dead. Malikar Gro Arzuk was gravely wounded and transported back to South Medway with Rhoghash. William Kade and Grey Drah’gon were captured. Grey was thrown into a cold frozen prison north in Lenora’s land, while William Kade was given the necessary respects with doctors and healers at one of Lenora’s private mansions. Amber Averill was thrown in a prison in Calemberg itself. The news of the battle rippled through Regalia like a giant shockwave. As soon as the news was heard in the county of Thraceia, the Wynter lands, locals started to riot against the Lamperouge leadership, citing the Lamperouge Duke had brought them nothing but dead sons and were fighting for independence from the Duchy of Vultaro. In the Duchy of Vultaro itself, Zero Lamperouge was contacted to take over his dead brother’s titles, the locals cried out for revenge against the Lo and Santorski families. Meanwhile in the west, the Nava servants were getting very nervous. The Dragenthal counties were internally fighting amongst each other, and the Nava’s had somehow managed to kill off their entire army in a battle far away from their home.

    Shayin barely escaped, looking around blinded. He knew that at this point there was no going back. He smiled only briefly at the thought that Freya didn't know he did so, that he had betrayed her, and that his plan B and C, then D would probably work. Work, being he survives and is able to continue duty to Estel. And who knows, perhaps a plan E would open from his alliance with the Shendar that used to serve Freya...

    Oh, how wrong he was...

    Huh.
    So how much damage can Regalia's forces take before other players move in to take land? With the forces fighting the elves, and others fighting each other, that's one helluva opening for other parties to make their move.

    A. So much for the elven war :P
    B. Perhaps I was lucky to have withdrawn Val from Ulric's army before this mess, I'm sure Freya wouldn't warm too kindly to her "old friend" being caught fighting against her

    The actual damage inflicted shouldn't be overestimated.

    The key defining line, is that those 100 soldiers per barony aren't actually the limit of what they can supply. Let's take the county of Calemberg. Say the City of Calemberg has a population of 140,000. This means the combat able population lies at around 10,000-20,000. Regalia's military scheme demands from all common families that their first sons are drafted into the military. However, each barony only rotates a standing army of 100 retinues which are equipped and battle ready at any time. This basically means that these wars while referring to decimation, actually only resulted in the loss of a tiny fraction of the actual army, not to speak of the Regalian navy which is completely unaffected by these noble wars.

    Refreshing and arming up new troops to replace those 100 standing troops however takes time, which is why nobles cannot simply just lol rebound after every fight. The reason why wars are fought with such limited means is because war is expensive. Drafting thousands of people would run dry the coffins of the Empire, and allowing families to fight their own battles works in their favor to claim glory on the battlefield in their name, instead of becoming a number in a greater Regalian Army.

    @MonMarty

    Okay fair. So if another player (as in political not specific players) made their move they would still have to deal with a large force to be reckoned with. Thats relaxing, as I was kinda concerned since Regalia is the reason daemons don't eat the world. Still, I wonder what will happen next.

    Kilain is within a borrowed chamber, thinking back to the battle. "Bah!" He says contemplating the battle "It was nay meant t' happen like tha', how many o' me 'friends' men's blood did I spill in th' name o' this war" he casts away the tankard from which he was drinking before kicking out at the wall "An' t' top it all, I be ended up fightin' against me true friend Rohghash, Bah!", with a deep sigh, the dwarf thinks back to the sight of Tristans body, wiping a small year from his eye "Ye nay was meant t' die like tha' Tristan, ye were me buddy ye know?" pacing once more, the dwarf takes a seat before he fetches another ale before raising it to the sky "An' fer wha'? T' th' glory o' th' Consortium. Bah!" before finishing the drink in a single gulp.

    OOC..

    ((My newest character and his family all live in Dagyad, one of the other Northern counties. I want to know how the North is reacting to it all. The problem is, the Stanorskis are the only noble family up there that was approved for nobility, thus leaving about 4-5 other counties totally empty of any representation. So, I asking what do their subjects and neighbours think about this.))

    (Thain's perspective starting from the flash of light)

    "Ah hell!" Thain was nearly blind only being able to see an inch or two in front of him, this cheap yet effective strategy by his enemies made something inside Thain snap. Thain tightened his grip on his gilded cup-hilt rapier and grabbed the hilt with his other hand swinging madly. Yelling and slashing he heard clanks and groans from his enemy and their armor. He noticed a body on the ground, it was Ser Typhonus'. Thain remembered his promise at the meeting which occurred earlier that night. He threw his rapier behind him half in the hopes of hitting someone but more so to grab the noble. Thain slung Ulric over his shoulder and sprinted toward what he hoped was away from the battle, luckily he was off the batlefield but still dangerously close to it. He went around trying to find someone or something to get Ulric far away from the battlefield. He heard the screams of Ulric in his ear, the screams made him think of the bloody battle going on behind him. Arrows flying penetrating flesh, blades of swords or axes amputating body parts, getting stuck inside of them, the thought of this horrified him but he shook it off. Thain wasn't blind now, he had his back turned to the blinding light. Thain noticed a steed as he was running, it was Thain's personal midnight black stallion Hallus he whistled for Hallus and the horse came to his master. He hoisted Ulric onto Hallus and yelled to the horse to take him far away, he smacked Hallus and the horse and the noble riding it were off. After that Thain fell to the ground knowing he had done his duty and kept his promise to protect Ulric, he was satisfied with this. He took his helmet off not thinking of arrows flying at him or blades being slashed at him. All he could think of was his fellow soldiers and the meeting between the forces that night. Thain was exhausted both mentally and physically, after a minute of laying he was found by the enemy, the battle was over. His side had lost, he hadn't made an attempt to escape or keep fighting (mostly because of exhaustion). All he said was "I surrender you heartless bastards." He was ordered to get up, he was then shackled and loaded onto a cart. He must have either slept or passed out considering the next thing he remembered was being thrown into a cell and spat on.There was a smell of sewage and death in the prison. He was no longer in his armor now he was in some ragged trousers, a rope was being used as a belt. He would lay on the floor pondering the battle in his mind the arrows, the blades. But mostly the screams of Ulric, he remembered these and they kept playing in his mind. They would not go away, soon Thain feared that they'd never go away...

    IC, all anybody knows is what the Santorski's said, which is that there were riots and that they step in to make peace. People thinking this was an evil takeover are basing their IC reactions off of OOC knowledge of Freya. Which is silly, considering it was literally the Santorski's plot and army and plans. I encourage people to keep this in mind ^^;

    Our population is thrilled that we stepped in to look after poor Calemburg, and glad that they can rejoin with distant relatives. Zastorzy and Calemberg use to be owned by the same family after all.

    I read that the riots were against Santorski rule.

    They were, that's why I said "IC, all anyone knows". The Consortium just isn't telling people that. It's also being claimed that the riots started before hand, hence why the Santorski's made a move now rather than later.

    "History is written by the victors." And all that ^^;

    Tiny IC response. ;) ]]
    Aron sits inside of his house as he had now returned to Regalia, still gently petting the Ur fur pelts subconsciously as he stared out, still drinking directly from his wine bottle. Then a small thought came to mind as he looked out, a simple yet strangely comical one, perhaps he could've laughed if thousands of men weren't slaughtered during it. He thought back to when he heard the first cries of the Typhonus soldiers, begging for their vision as the bright light hit their eyes, a light in the sky, then he allowed himself to mutter his old family motto with a new smile cracking at his lips, "House Santorski, we light the sky..."

    Well, all the Calemberg citizens would likely know the truth. Also a lot of the nobility could probably make assumptions, I don't know about Typhonus-Santorski conflict but there definitely has been some Typhonus-Lo conflict in the past

    Even if all that was said was the information Santorski gave, there would still be skeptics and war critics who would side against it, though due to the "time period," they likely would be hesitant to speak out about it
