Though the night was long and dark, a dim light shone throughout the garden. Lit torches and lanterns dotted the darkness, flickering ever so softly. A woman - marked clearly by the brambles and mud adorning her skirt - shuffled over to another flower bed, shears at the ready.

One by one the leaves fell, snipped from the stem. A bored, contemplative glance shot upwards through the metal bars that marked the edge of the grounds - as though searching for something interesting. Her hands continued to prune, ensuring that the next day's visitors were well received by the plants that grew.

Seemingly lost in her work, it was the snapping of branches that alerted her to a presence - one entirely unexpected. A gruesome face presented itself through the bars, leering at her own. Decrepit hands obscured by shadows pried and tugged at the bars, seeking entrance to the small slice of paradise. A scream, followed by footsteps and shouts resounded throughout the courtyard, forcing the creature back from whence it came, into the long and dark night.

A series of posters are nailed to whichever notice boards are easily accessible. The parchment is of good condition, likely a new ad. It reads as follows;

It has recently come to my attention that there is something of a beast loitering around my estate. The woods themselves are thick and full of secrets, a protection of sorts for whatever lurks there. My help was of no help in describing the creature - the only clue as to its size, species, and whereabouts is the hole in the grating.

For those of you well versed in the hunting and execution of monsters, I implore you - take up arms, and arrive prepared. In return for those able to slay the beast and provide me with proof, I shall reward you with personal glory, credit with the Red Block Trading Company, and a night to dine with select members of the Kade family. Should you wish to partake in this hunt, simply pen me a letter. We shall go from there.

Signed,
Rhonwen Cavia Kade.

A note would find its way to one of the parchments, its edges torn and clearly taken from another poster itself. On it, it read:

I grow curious of this creature, might I take a look at this 'thing' with a few others I know of?

Einherjar

A letter would find its way into the Kade estate.

"I don't do much monster hunting.. but I have killed my fair share of beasts. Whatever it is, it won't be lurking around for much longer."
Signed,
Molly Daevaar

A letter would find itself sent to the appropriate person(s) for this hunt:

To those that this letter may concern,

I may not be a man that is known to be a hunter or tracker of beasts, but I am open to slaying a beast if need be. If one is in need, I shall bring up my shield and flail to help kill the beast once it is found by those in whatever group is decided on.

I hope to hear back for the acceptance or denial of my participation in this hunt!

From,
Teobane Bretel

A letter arrived, whose edges were marked lightly with water stains and whose fold was sealed with the healthiest glob of dark brown wax. When the seal was removed, the letter folded neatly out. On ivory stationery, written in rich, blue ink with exquisite penmanship reads the following message:

To the Honorary Rhonwen Cavia Kade, or Authorized Arbitrator,

This letter is a response to Madame Kade's generous advertisement requesting temporary hire for the removal of an unwanted beast from the royal premises. Your servant is a native colonist of Essalonia who has nigh seventeen years of professional experience hunting, and assisting others in the hunt of, game and beasts. With the Madame's favor, I would be honored to present my resume in the hope of temporary employment in the organization and execution of a hunt.

With utmost respect,
Fellmeister Kurt Ludwig Hofmeier

The writer's signature was embellished with the swooping loops of elegant calligraphy.

To the Esteemed Lady Rhonwen Cavia Kade,

My kinsmen and I have grown restless for a hunt. Please allow my daughter an I to lend our spears and slay this beast for you, whatever or whoever it may be.

With due respect,
Sakara Mansurah al-Ramoran

Arriving relatively promptly at the Kade estate would be a letter, wax sealed in red with a Bloodcast logo embellished upon it.

To The Lady Kade...

You may remember me as lady du Brierust's palest who wasn't at an expertise with riddles, I assure you this isn't the case with my ventures into looking into creatures, attending to them and so forth.

I'd like to arrive with as many of my fellow Bloodcast men-at-arms as are willing to attend to this with me.

As a final word of advice, I implore you to allow most who letter to you acceptance, better prepared than not.

Yours sincerely,
Ser Lazarus Lupenzi

Esteemed Lady Kade,

My comrades and I sharpen our blades in your time of need, should you require more men than your received letters would supply, the Derna Garda Soldier's Guild has individuals ready and able.

Signed,
Urddfeistr Maridenne Morgann.

And thus, this monstrosity was sent in.
