It all started peacefully with an idyllic Yanar festival on the Yanar Isle next to the Elven District. Unfortunately, the Sewer gang Usque Galenas had other plans. The priest in the temple was later found murdered, replaced with a void worshiper who gave the idol makers pure rods of fire weed powder. When the festival goers put dolls near the tree, it took only one flaming arrow to burst the entire tree aflame. The exact death count of Yanar seedlings is unknown, but the death rate is expected to be even higher than that of the Night of the little falling star. Fleeing festival goers trampled each other, adding to the death count as the fire spread to the Elven district and then into the poor district, burning down many houses. The raging fire was only stopped when it met the sea defense wall, a massive brick and mortar structure protecting the rest of the city from the blaze. The responsible parties, Usque Galenas, were not to be seen anywhere, but their hand in this was unmistakable. The Military Governance issued a "kill on sight, don't ask questions" order against the members of the so called "Usque Galenas". Hunters crawled the city streets, but could find no trace of them. Meanwhile, the government tried to repay the losses in the poor district and the Elven district, though it was hard to tell what had actually been lost as many people living there were not citizens or registered with the authorities. What consequences this would have for the sewers and the political situation down there, remained to be seen. OOC info: Usque Galenas members are declared "kill on sight" to the City Guard. Usque Galenas members will grant instant kill perms when seen by City Guards/Imperial Guards above ground in their regular outfit, or if their name and face is known with authorities. Useque Galenas members do /NOT/ grant instant death perms to anyone but the people in the City Guard and the Imperial Guard, who also do /NOT/ have instant death perms in the sewers. Heavy rewards and bounties are offered by the Military Governance (ex: Cedric Kade) for anyone delivering vital information, hideouts or identities of the Usque Galenas members.

Conflict is the core essence of all storytelling, without a villain or antagonist to cause horrible events, character development and progression are nonexistent. While the happier festivals are interesting, there isn't much room to grow a character without some conflict arising. As for hate, that's a very strong way to put it, saying you absolutely hate something and letting that hatred manifest can very well hurt you in some ways. Don't let hate consume you, just enjoy the storytelling that's attempted to be done and develop your characters in the event of conflict.
