I write today in protest of one of the new points made in the recent decree, that being the creation of the First Contact Officer, and the rules regarding "first contact" with other peoples.

I see it as a blatant attempt to have an exclusive bunch discover the secrets or whatever else other peoples have to offer before political rivals can. Preventing folk of the Empire from venturing around is nearly impossible, as there is not much to prevent a common drifter from hopping on a boat and paddling over to wherever these people are. The threat of legal action being taken against those meaning to do so is an attempt to insert fear into unwanted parties, so that the "preferred" emissaries may have a "jump start" on whatever secrets or information these "unlogged" people have. Priority for the few, and the threat of jail for the rest.

Specifically the Sunnan Velheim people. Anybody with a brain knows who put you up to this, Lord Chancellor. No doubt the new "First Contact Officer" will favor them. Unfortunately for them, there are other Velheim in the city, and they take interest in these new people as well. The minds of these Sunnan Velheim may be malleable, so it would be very unfortunate if they were swayed to favor a certain party rather than see the forest for the trees.

Consider what is fair.

"If your heart pushed nearly as much blood to your brain as it does your tongue, you would have better understood this decision. The Regalians discovered a multitude of new peoples within the past year. If we had sent you, they would hate us, declare war, and call us barbarians. That would cut us off to a world of discoveries and new knowledge that they see as common sense. If we sent any old dirty buffoon like you, we would wipe out their entire species with diseases they have not been exposed to, as found with the poor little avians. They did not last a month. But if you want me to put a finer point on it, and give you another point to rave mad about like a nudist atop a box of soap in front of a tavern you buy half the stock of:

They are being selective so they do not have to send you. Instead, they can send people who know how to think, and have credentials that can prove it. That is on purpose, and you should take it as criticism instead of an opportunity to scream," Arathorn wrote in retaliation, being a lone Lesarra who held a shockingly confrontational sneer and clearly seemed perhaps too passionate about the search of the new.

both a Celate and a Daendroque woman see this and say almost in unison, "He put it perfectly."
