So, I had a crazy idea: what would happen if the Ailor disappeared? I don't mean forever, of course. Just, for like an in game month, maybe (maybe just a week in real time). During that time, all the other races fought for control of Regalia, and the city became a mess. Fighting everywhere, and each race trying to ascend to the throne. Then, as suddenly as they disappeared, the Ailor return. The return to a ruined Regalia, with a new race sitting on the throne, and they need to band together to take it back. Crime runs rampant throughout the city, with few guards to stop it.
I know this idea sounds just a wee bit crazy. But I think it could work if done right. It would not only be an interesting idea, but a unique plotline that I haven't seen before. It would also make people who normally play Ailor play another race for a try. This would make people (hopefully) grow attached to the other races. In the end, it could also be pushed by the Ailor as a sign that Unionism is the true religion, by saying that the other races can't coexist peacefully without them.
It would be difficult to explain why the Ailor disappeared from the face of Aloria, but it's a world with magic. It can simply be a mystery. The Ailor would likely return with no idea what happened, or that they were ever gone.
Some people may believe that having a race disappear would hurt roleplay, yet the faith pogrom showed that having non-Ailor races taken out of the city didn't hurt Roleplay. It only added to the story. This, I believe would add to the story. It wouldn't be killing off any characters, simply removing them from play for a short while. I hope this would also encourage people to make new characters that they would hopefully love just as much as their Ailor(s). Imagine the nobles returning to find squatters in their homes, the Emperor returning to a dwarf on his throne, the guards returning to crime in the streets. In the end, it would be up to the Ailor to decide how to take Regalia back. Thanks for reading, and have a Massive day!
