    • Full Name: Piper Josephine Pim
    • Age: 20
    • Gender: Female
    • Race: Half Dwarf, Half Ailor.
    • Main Ambition: Piper isn't particularly ambitious. As long as she's fed, entertained, and not behind bars, she's happy.
    Basic Information (Expansion)
    • Piper lives with Joelle Cavey and Joseph Mercer in Joey's underground home on Crown Road. She has no desire to find a home of her own, content on living off her friend and bringing home their share of whatever loot she collects. She's technically a bartender at the Laurel and Marigold, but never consistently shows up to work. She spends more time picking pockets than tending the bar.
    • Piper was born to Torryn and Harry Pim, Torryn being her Dwarvish mother, and Harry, her Ailor father. Piper is the middle child to two other siblings,
      • Cora Pim, younger sister.
      • Rhine Pim, elder sister.
    • Other ambitions Piper has include the following:
      • Continue flying with the Dread Corsair, and be a large part of her future success.
      • Eventually find an occupation she actually enjoys doing. Bartending is fun, but it's still work.
      • Nab something so big, so important, that Joey and Olly will be impressed. This would be something she gets all on her own.

    • Weapon of Choice: Brass knuckles, or a sling she took from an old ghost.
    Visual Information (Expansion)
    • Piper's face is short and wide, with well-rounded cheeks dotted in freckles. Her eyes are big and blue, and are often kept wide and flitting to pay attention to people's belongings. While she usually has a grin on her face, a few teeth are missing, and she's often seen sticking her tongue in the gaps where they were. Piper's hair is a messy mane that falls in large, un-brushed curls around her head. Recently, when it becomes too unbearable, Piper has taken to putting it into a loose braid behind her back, tied with an old ribbon.
    • At five feet and about 135 pounds, Piper is, by no means, a thin woman. Piper has a pear-shaped body, where more fat rests at her hips than her bosom. Piper's skin takes on a pinkish hue, with freckles and blemishes found along her shoulders and back. Tattooed on her left shoulder blade is a sketchy airship, and found on her left and right wrists are a 'P' and 'S', for 'Port and 'Starboard' respectively (see spoiler). She walks with a careless gait -- footsteps heavy, large gestures, and a lack of personal bubble. To accompany this, she has very poor hygiene and a distinct odor to her body and breath.
      Once upon a time there was a famous sea captain. This captain was very successful at what he did; for years he guided merchant ships all over the world. Never did stormy seas or pirates get the best of him. He was admired by his crew and fellow captains. However, there was one thing different about this captain. Every morning he went through a strange ritual. He would lock himself in his captain's quarters and open a small safe. In the safe was an envelope with a piece of paper inside. He would stare at the paper for a minute, and then lock it back up. After, he would go about his daily duties.

      For years this went on, and his crew became very curious. Was it a treasure map? Was it a letter from a long lost love? Everyone speculated about the contents of the strange envelope.

      One day the captain died at sea. After laying the captain's body to rest, the first mate led the entire crew into the captains’ quarters. He opened the safe, got the envelope, and opened it. Four words were on the paper, two on two lines:

      Port Left
      Starboard Right
    • Piper doesn't usually pay close attention to her clothing. While a simple ribbon often ties her braid back, her clothes typically come from wherever she can scrounge them. Recently, she's taken to wearing a dark blue sailor's shirt and a pair of brown trousers. Her boots are heavy and a bit too big, allowing her room to store small objects. The pockets of her trousers are often large, too. Along with this storage space, she keeps a worn satchel bag at her side.
    • Piper's voice is shrill, and her accent has been described as "difficult to understand" at its best, and "chewing glass" at its worst. She speaks quickly and thoughtlessly, allowing words and sentences to become muddled together. Piper's prone to dropping anything from her T's to whole chunks of words, adds in random consonants when she doesn't fully know how to pronounce something, and using poor grammar to convey her thoughts.

    Personality and Abilities (Required)
    Personality Traits

    • Outgoing: Piper loves to engage herself in social environments. Even if she's not actively participating with other people's plots, she takes great joy by just being around them. As a result, she'll often tag along with others, conveniently inject herself into conversations, or find any and all excuses to avoid going home. Piper's been known to pull all-nighters drinking and chatting, and gets very excited about tavern or tabletop games that can keep her occupied. While this can be incredibly taxing on her work life, or any responsibilities she might've dropped in favor of socializing, it gives Piper ample opportunity to keep up with the goings-on around town, and allows her to become friendly with people very quickly.
    • Short-Sighted: The future is shrouded in mystery, with possibilities so endless it can make one's head spin -- so why bother getting herself dizzy over it? The future doesn't concern Piper very much, and she's more prone to making impulsive decisions instead of thinking things through. Anyone who's ever made a plan could know that this has gotten her in a number of awkward situations. Despite that, and despite how unpredictable this makes her, the benefit is that she can think up quick and creative plans without worrying about ands or buts or ifs. Furthermore, she can get stuff done more quickly and efficiently -- if not with a couple messes along the way.
    • Empathetic: Despite her thieving ways, Piper is incredibly empathetic. She'll justify all the reasons she shouldn't get invested in other people's affairs, but it's difficult for her to resist the temptation to pour her all into them. How quick she is to trust those around her makes her incredibly malleable -- it's not hard to change her opinion on most things, convince her to make impulsive decisions, or recruit her help in a quick scheme. This makes her an incredibly loyal thug or henchman as long as her interest is upheld, but also makes her morals as loose as a nobleman's lips after a few drinks.
    • Optimistic: Piper's lack of foresight can be partially blamed on her optimism -- a near-adamant belief that no matter what, things will always work out for the best. Not one to care too much about the more dismal possibilities, Pimmy places a lot of importance on staying resolute. Bad situations make her disproportionately uncomfortable, and the chance of meager outcomes are usually dismissed in favor of what great things could be coming. This makes Piper a cheery person, prone to finding ways to bring joy in others. This also makes it hard to bog her down -- stress is a rare happenstance for her. Despite all that, her optimism makes it difficult for Piper to face very real hardships in her environment.
    • Irresponsible: With little sense of duty, a wavering morality, and hardly any motivation to attain any goals, Pimmy is not a reliable person. It can be chalked up to a number of reasons, but in the end her irresponsibility is due to how little she actually cares. While she feels like she should uphold her promises, she often can't bring herself to actually do so -- her obligation is null and void. Her moral compass changes its poles without warning, and she can't always be driven to succeed when there's so much fun and chatting and drinking to be had. While this makes it difficult to pin her down for long or arduous tasks, or convoluted plans, she can still be held reliable for the short term, and as long as she isn't distracted or bored, she can usually stay the course.
    • Intuitive: Her extroversion and the skills she's developed as a thief and conman have allowed Piper to read people very well. She can easily get a feel for a conversation and when it goes bad, can usually glean the subtext in what somebody is saying, and loves to find tactics to be the crowd pleaser she is. In some ways, this has allowed her to easily relate to others and schmooze, lie, or manipulate without much hassle. In other ways, she's prone to finding herself getting too attached to somebody else and too invested in their happiness. Piper has given up on a number of criminal acts to join somebody in a quest to better their lives, or to stand up for them when they're threatened.
    Strengths
    • Street Smart: Piper has experience with the world of small-scale crime -- from her life as a compulsive pickpocket, to her time in the Poor District, to her time working more in the sewers than the overcity. While she isn't particularly wise, she can usually glean a good understanding of what's going on around her, and habitually tries to uphold good practice when it comes to working with other criminals. While "Honor Among Thieves" is a concept she's still wrapping her head around, she tries to uphold it as much as possible -- or as much as is convenient.
    • Quick Talker: Piper grew up with a heavy accent and a habit for talking circles around people. Her speech is muddled and difficult to understand, often described by others as 'chewing glass'. She's well aware of this, and while most of the time she subconsciously speaks the way she does, she's known to try to use it to her advantage, too. In many cases, she's exasperated people to the point where they'll let her get away with things, or give up harassing her, just to get her to stop talking.
    • Theft: Having been a pickpocket for at least the last five years, Piper has gained a number of valuable skills related to sleight of hand, distraction, and observation. She's good at working her fingers (or a small knife -- cut purse style) where they shouldn't go, she knows a number of methods to draw people's attention away from their valuables, and pays attention to the way people move. Their hands move inside their jacket? There's a pocket in there. They walk funny? Maybe something's in their shoe. If worse comes worse and none of her little techniques work, Piper's quick to swallow small pieces of coin or jewelry and retrieve them later. What are they gonna do, cut her open?
    • Relatable: Piper's good at sponging off people and opening up to them, and in turn it's easy for them to open up to her. Anybody she doesn't immediately take a disliking to, she treats like a friend she hasn't met. This has earned her a number of pardons from guards, helped her slither out of many awkward situations, and has given her the chance to join many groups and acquire many jobs and positions throughout her time in Regalia. This also gives her the chance to keep tabs on what's going on around town and decide whether she wants to get involved or not.
    Weaknesses
    • Poor Health: Her eating and drinking habits contribute negatively to a number of factors. Not eating well means her stamina is poor, and after short bursts of running or swimming, she gets worn out. Heavy drinking gives her an alcohol dependency, and she gets anxious or irate if she doesn't start her day with a drink. Finally, Piper swallows things she shouldn't, such as rings or coins, giving her a number of different gastrointestinal issues such as stomachaches, trouble using the restroom, and the occasional choking or vomiting.
    • Uneducated and Unworldly: Without an instructor to have taught her the ways of the world and how things work outside her trade, Piper has to fill in the blanks with her imagination. This has led her to make heinous assumptions and act in ignorance toward other people's cultures and customs. She's been known to be oblivious to rude or ignorant behavior towards others, and tell other people ridiculous facts and made-up stories if she doesn't know the truth.
    • Unaccountable: Sure, Pimmy makes promises and tries to be there for others. But the fact of the matter is, she's forgetful, unmotivated, and scatterbrained. Piper has a tendency to assure those around her of something she'll do, only to forget this promise once it's not at the forefront of her mind. Furthermore, she does poorly at any job she's held, more motivated by sporadic impulses than a sense of duty.
    • Malleable: Despite what Piper thinks, stubbornness isn't one of her strengths. Peer pressure is a difficult thing for Piper to overcome, and she isn't known to put up too much of a fight if she thinks something is a bad idea or has moral qualms with it. Part of this comes from her need to stay attached to others around her, and part of this comes for her disregard for consequences -- even if her gut tells her against something, it will probably be alright, so why worry too much about it?
    Personality and Abilities (Expansion)
    • Describe any number of Character Quirks your character has, strange behavior that they exhibit in certain situations. For example, a character rubbing a beard when nervous is a quirk, or a character biting their lips when doing math is a quirk, or a character shuffling their feet when talking to someone is a quirk. Quirks are not mandatory and may be left out if the writer doesn’t want to include them or can’t think of any.
    • Describe your character’s skills; abilities they’ve developed, but not necessarily put at the forefront of their lives. For example, if your character is a good cook, but not a chef, or if they are a good horse rider but not necessarily a competition racer, you would mention them here. Feel free to mention multiple skills but try to keep your character from becoming over skilled.
    • Describe your character’s talents, their inherent abilities that truly set them apart from the common population of Aloria. These talents are the kind of abilities other people would want to go to your character for to teach them. These are things they haven’t specifically developed, but have a natural affinity for.

    • Drinking: If it isn't obvious, Piper loves to drink! While this helps ease her alcoholism, what's more important is that it usually leads to one of her favorite activities: socialization. She's come to associate the taste of hard alcohol with companionship and happiness, but she enjoys softer or fruitier drinks (like wine) for the warmth it'll inevitably provide.

    • Aristocracy: While she's certainly gotten along with those of higher standing than her, Piper shares the same embitterment for the wealthy that many of her social class do. It isn't necessarily the people she dislikes. Instead, she both envies the fact that they can seemingly have anything they want, and usually finds their behavior and dress pretentious and distasteful.

    Life Story (Required)
    • Piper was born in the Spring of 284 AC in Hegranes, a small merchant village in Ellador.
    • Her younger years were spent working with other children as hired hands for a small guild of shipwrights -- the Afflicted Dragons Guild -- that specialized in airships. The money wasn't great, but it helped keep her busy during the days when her parents also worked.
    • At age 14, she took on an apprenticeship with a specific shipwright named Merry Whitham. Under his guidance, she was taught basic math and reading to handle minor accounting.
    • Piper lost this apprenticeship a few years later when she was caught stealing from the till. Without a job and only supported by her sisters and parents, she took to pickpocketing to make ends meet.
    • Piper carried on like this a few more years, until she nicked a broach off a wayfaring baron and had to skip town to avoid being caught.
    • She stowed away on a sea-ship, but was eventually caught and dropped off in Regalia with nothing to her name.
    Regalia (Important Highlights):
    • Within days of coming to Regalia, she met the crew of the Dread Corsair and convinced them to let her join their crew. She gained the illustrious rank of swab, but was offered board and food.
    • Her first major heist was robbing Ulric Typhonus' home with Joey and Tabari. While it went successfully, it was very unusual for the way Piper worked.
    • When most of the crew disappeared, she officially moved in with Joseph Mercer and stayed in the lower floors of his home.
    • For a short period of time, she took on work bartending for the Golden Willow. She was eventually let go after she stopped showing up for shifts. To this day, she's still not sure if they ever caught her scamming the customers.
    • After she lost her bartending job, she befriended Bethany Fong joined the Brute Squad on a whim. This career was short-lived -- after the Purge, she decided guard work was no longer for her.
    • During the Purge, she got trapped in the blockaded sewers with a pack of Fallisma. This was her first time getting infected with the Sanguine Curse, and it took a number of explosives to finally extract her.
    • When Olly joined the crew of the Dread Corsair, she took up work bartending at the Laurel and Marigold. While she's still hired by proxy, it's rare for her to show up for shifts unless she's reminded.
    • Very recently, she assisted in the organized murder of Jaak Keppkuula. This is the first time she's participated in something like this, and refuses to discuss it to this day.
