So, we have explored the new Tigran lore, and debated about what their technology could have been like. Now that new Orc lore has been released, let's chat about that!
My focus is going to be on why Orcs technology, specifically that relating to Nuclear devices.
"Orc history is difficult to pin down as Orcs do not generally record history. The Orc race does not have a system of writing, nor do they have the desire to write down their past experiences. What little is known about Orc history comes from either the Elves or oral history preserved through tribal stories. It is said the Orcs originally sailed from Guldar and Sundar, the twin isles to the west of Daendroc, when the land itself became poisoned during the time of the cataclysm. It is not entirely clear to scholars what this meant, as Orcs generally have a resistance to poisons."
That was a snippet from the new Orc lore wiki page. My focus is on the part where it says that the Orcs were displaced due to their Islands being "Poisoned". As the article also stated that "Orcs generally have a resistance to poison". Cyanide, Arsenic, and Aconitine to name a few, are poisons. However, you can also be poisoned by Nuclear Radiation. "It is said the Orcs originally sailed from Guldar and Sundar, the twin isles to the west of Daendroc, when the land itself became poisoned during the time of the cataclysm" hints that during the Cataclysm, they were poisoned. In addition, Nuclear Radiation would be something that they had not been exposed to before, so they would not have a resistance to it. This now presents several options:

- Nuclear radiation was, and is, a by-product of portals. Perhaps Emerald is an alternative to "Uranium", or the same thing under a different name. Perhaps portals are nuclear powered. Thus the smaller portals, needing only two blocks worth of Emerald, do not "Poison" people because of the small amount of radiation coming from the emeralds. Now, when you break a portal, it explodes. I makes a poof of flame, and throws you back a bit. Now, in the Cataclysm wiki page, it stated "A group of adventurers were led to Drowda to destroy the demonic portals there" Imagine that when they destroyed the portals to the void there, that the demons portals acted the same as modern ones. Another snippet of the text said "A group of adventurers was sent to the Forsaken Continent, upon which the gaping maw of the void stood. Most of these adventurers snuck through Drowda's landscapes, finding their way swiftly towards the large void gate that had sprung up" A "Gaping maw" of a void portal must be pretty large. So , when they destroyed that, and it blew up, Imagine what would happen. The radiation from the portal would be shot through the sky by the force of the explosion. And, of course, since it was a much, much larger portal than usual, it had much more radiation coming from it. What if the majority of the radiation landed on the Orcs homeland? A radiation dose as low as 0.35 Gy could feel a bit like you have the flu, and that could include nausea and vomiting, headaches, fatigue, and fever. Now, if not only the people were sick, but also flora and fauna was looking sickly, or dead, assuming the land was poisoned (which it was), seems like a plausible idea for an Orc to come up with. That is one reason why the land could have become poisoned.
- Another possibility is not that the void demons portal technology is the cause of the radiation soaked land, but that the Orcs accidentally poisoned their own land with nuclear experiments. You may say "Orcs are too dumb to think of how to split atoms to make bombs", but imagine this: A demon, knowing that his race is fighting a losing battle, gives all his knowledge about nuclear weapons to the Orc race, hoping that even if the Demons have to withdraw back to the void, the Orcs may use their newfound technology to eliminate all others in Aloria, basically making the void demons return to conquer Aloria an easy feat. But, what if the Orcs experiments took a bit too much toll on the land? The wiki says "Orcs arrived in Daendroc shortly after the Void invasion ended, coinciding with the fall of the Elven Empire, which they sped up. The Elves had already descended into fratricidal civil war for several years, though the Orcs put an end to it all when they slew the Elven princes and eradicated the Elven army which was already weary from both the Void Invasion and the Elven Civil War. The Orcs then continued to massacre millions of Elves, which eventually culminated in an event they call the "Big Boom" in which they blew up the Elven capital of Rië, a city that had stood for thousands of years, with a number of bombs lOrcs arrived in Daendroc shortly after the Void invasion ended, coinciding with the fall of the Elven Empire, which they sped up. However, As the lore states, they arrived with bombs "large enough to destroy nearly 1000 square miles of land". That pretty much describes a ThermoNuclear Weapon.
