The two have always been by each other's side and often relied on each other to survive, after their parents died. Randolph Watson: Randolph is responsible for saving the two Watson boys, and showing them how to take care of themselves and each other. He taught them much in the ways of hunting, ship-going and all around surviving. Life Story (Required) Childhood Oliver was born to Irving and Aileen Watson in the year 260 AC in Ceardia. Irving and Aileen had had another boy 7 years earlier, David Allen, who Oliver looked up to and spent a lot of time with. Oliver and Allen spent most of their time working in the family bath house and being modestly educated by their parents. At the age of 7 Oliver’s mother passed away. He would go on to not remember much about her, besides her warm, motherly love for the two boys. Irving took the news of Aileen’s passing way harder than the boys, as they were still young and didn’t quite understand what had happened. Irving would go on to take this anger out on the boys, until the two came of age and decided to run away to their Uncle, Randolph, who had cared for them alongside their parents closely while they were younger. This started Oliver’s teenage years. Teenage Years As Oliver began to develop into a young adult, he began to find what it meant to be himself. The three Watsons set sail on Randolph’s whaling ship, as he was a worldly man who hunted and fished to make a living. He often passed the time on his Uncle’s ship by journaling, drawing and sketching on whatever paper he could find. This occupied much of his time, when he wasn’t helping his Uncle and Allen fish, whale and tend to the boat. They would spend months upon months on the boat, only stopping to sell their goods and explore various places. On one of their expeditions to sell their fish, Oliver picked up a small hunting knife with the financial assistance of Randolph. It was a light cherry wood hunting knife, engraved with an “o” in the grip. This would go on to be Oliver’s prized possession, and from that point forward, he would always keep it on his person, especially since Randolph fit the “father role” he lacked due to his father’s descent into madness and later death. Randolph then brought an old friend of his, Kyudo, onto the boat, who would go on to help Randolph teach the boys more about hunting, fishing, and how to survive on their own. Mid life Later on in their lives, Allen and Oliver settled shortly in Regalia, wanting to take a break from the life of survival, and to see what it was like in the crown city. Allen would go on to open a small Cafe on the streets of Regalia, which Oliver would help at, however this would not prove financially viable, and the two would have to resort to other jobs to pay the bills. Oliver turned to...less than ideal means of work, often picking up bounties under the table, or sometimes, even robbing folk in the sewers. They were sewer-goers, obviously they had something to hide, so therefore robbing them couldn’t be that bad, or at least- that's what he had thought. Oliver and Allen would go on this way for a bit, surviving the best they could, before the two decided to cut their losses and leave Regalia. Oliver, with his new found capabilities in bounty hunting and other various physical forms of labor, would go off to carve his own path separate from Allen, who returned to their Uncle. Oliver would head off to Essalonia, going to pursue a career in bounty hunting and other jobs of questionable legality. Oliver often lived a meager existence, training his body, and his skills in hand to hand combat, axe combat, and primarily bladed combat. Though, he would also keep up with his hobby of journaling and drawing, honing his skills, though not becoming professional in his talent, far from, actually. He became intimidatingly good at hunting bounties and neutralizing those who tried to fight or run. He would sustain multiple injuries over the course of this endeavor, and came out of the affair with a multitude of scars. After his stint in the less-than-civilized areas of Essalonia, he would then go on to join back up with Randolph and Allen. Current While sailing with Randolph and Allen, a fierce storm forces Randolph to intentionally ground the boat on a beach in Farah’deen. The ship, sustaining significant damage to the hull and mast, was unable to be put back into the water. As the three are assessing the situation, they are knocked out, tied up, and dragged to a camp far out in the desert. When they awake, they are being beaten and tortured, with no sign of Randolph anywhere. Oliver is lacerated down his face and around his forehead for being rowdy and disobeying the orders of the leaders of this unknown group of bandits. He would headbutt them when they came near, spit at them, similar to an animal caught in a trap. Eventually, Oliver managed to escape from his bindings, and miraculously take out the man who was guarding them, allowing the two to escape. They had no way of knowing how long it had been, but by Allen’s estimates, it had been somewhere between three and four months.The two then head back to Regalia on a boat Oliver managed to hijack, in search of much needed medical attention and any information on the whereabouts of Randolph. Oliver’s right eye had been cut by their captor’s blade significantly, and he had gone nearly blind in said eye, it being extremely blurry and dark constantly. His face had suffered multiple cuts across his forehead and cheek, but they managed to get it fixed up in Regalia. A long, twisting scar can now be seen cut across the right half of Oliver’s face, but the two are now more determined than ever to figure out what had happened to their beloved uncle.
