Neu, at first, can be perceived as extremely closed off, cocky, and wary, not to mention, a stoic, quieter woman, which results in a rather negative first impression most of the time. Of course, such aloofness does tend to drag in the occasional curious individual. In this scenario, the Kathar will more often than not find her playing along- In which case, a far better impression is made. Though, such is rare and unusual, being as she’s a Kathar in the Holy Empire, and her attitude more often than not convinces the average city goer that she’s a heretic. It’s difficult to tell if her every day personality and actions are simply a facade or the real thing, so Neu herself can’t blame anyone for making such an assumption. She remains silent in the presence of eerie people, and frequently shows distrust and malicious tendencies to those types people, depending on the situation or their actions towards her. She opens up at a gradual pace, like an old book that must be handled gently and slowly to avoid the pages ripping. But of course, none of this prevents her from having a happy go lucky attitude in public, so long as she's in the presence of someone she cares for, and is comfortable with. How she feels inside . . . Neu is generally self aware. She knows her flaws, and despises them greatly. From numerous scars loitering her body, to her unsteady and flexible personality, she always knows when someone’s looking. She often questions whether or not it’s her skin itself, or the tainted marks on her skin that make her so self conscious, but it’s one of the key reasons for her wariness with new or unsettling people. Neu has remained on lock and hold over what happens to her body for years now, and chances are, it may never change. All in all, she could use some confidence to make up for all the self doubt and self pity she allows to hold her down, and she’s convinced even her own mind is against her. There’s not a day that goes by that she fears for her life for all these reasons, making her terrified to live in her own skin, despite how well she bottles these difficulties. But of course, she too has her own little breakdowns now and again to release all this bottled rage and discomfort, usually to someone who can handle it or comfort her. Her actions towards friends, family, and lovers . . . Neu is a generally loving person to those she knows. Towards friends, she’ll frequently be found following them around, observing what they’re doing and how they do it with utmost curiosity. If not following them around, she’s flat out clinging to them by the arm, as she’s an extremely touchy person to those she considers friends. When it comes to family, on the other hand, it’s more debatable. Her children are the ones she keeps closest, as her many siblings and father are disconnected from her; The only sibling she has that she truly enjoys the company of would be her brother Sann’le. Outside of her parents and siblings, she’s a more family oriented being; Resulting in her lovers often times being held dearly to her, and selected wisely. In the affair of the rare, lasting relationship, Neu will choose a person accepting of her and her family, and from then on, cling to them every chance she has. Beside friends, lovers and family however, stands her reaction to betrayal, which is frequently an over exaggerated thing in Neu’s mind. In the case someone back stabs her, they become her pointed enemy and chosen target until she either gives up, looses interest, or succeeds in them equally receiving back whatever it is they did to her. Her morality . . . Neutral. Neu’s true morals lie with other outcasts of Regalia. She puts her attention mostly towards the fellow shunned and sinning races, as she can relate to them on levels she’ll never truly relate to with an Ailor, or any accepted race for that matter. Though, this doesn’t prevent her from forcing herself to appeal to Ailor for her sake, and sometimes forming attachments to some of the humans she comes across. She’s fully capable of communicating with Ailor, as well as feeling empathy and affection for them, just as much as she is with other outcasts. Her neutral stance with both parties ends at Neu’s will to bring equality between the several races, and gain power and success as an accepted individual within the Empire of Regalia. Her view of the world . . . Neu’s view on the world is obscured. She can’t see what others do. She doesn’t understand the point in much of what happens, and frequently either puts the blame on herself or others when horrible things come naturally to Regalia. For example, she blames herself for the trouble her fellow Kathar cause for the reasoning of her incapability to change their morals. She blames others for her own intolerance to the stuck up and snobbier people of life. Her hopes for Regalia to one day succeed are high, yes- But never would she say that she can see it happening in her life, viewing the Holy Empire as a clouded mind, which needs time to process the possibilities of life. In her eyes, Regalia is corrupt- But it can, And will one day become a better place. Or at least, that's what she hopes. Spoiler: Trivia Nouveau loves to write! Neu has journals among journals among journals of her documenting her life. She writes at the end of every day, contrary to popular belief that Kathar are uncultured and incapable of such basic essentials. She has more than eight journals as of now, all documenting each day of her life in extreme detail, recalling everything down to a T. Some have wondered how her memory serves her so well- And the answers are in those journals. All marked with years she wrote them, all it takes is her plucking a book from a shelf and skimming through the pages for a date to recall exactly what happened on a certain date. Where this started off as a hobby, it has since become an obsession, her will to write each and every day pairing well with her goal to one day become something more than a ‘filthy Ashskin.’ If she doesn’t successfully do such, she believes that at the very least, her collection of writings will go down in history. If she continues to write every day until her death if she lives a full life, she will have wrote more than 65,700+ pages of literature, only including her daily journal entries. Nouveau is a bit of a hoarder! Where she keeps everything organized and cleaned to the best of her abilities, Neu has trinkets, books, gadgets and so on littering the shelves and tables of her home. She’s collected them all over the course of fifty eight years, and even still carries around a large satchel that was given to her when she was only fourteen. It’s a shocker it still works- Of course, this could simply be because she puts a heavy amount of effort into keeping it in tack, being as it is her largest and most favored Satchel. Atop this, she has a wardrobe of far too many outfits. Being as she hasn’t apparently aged since she was thirty, growing out of her clothes hasn’t been a problem in a while. Thus, she has multiple outfits, tops, bottoms and dresses from various cultures. Some from her own heritage, others consisting of regal dresses and tunics. Finally, her collection of jewelry. Obtained after the death of one of her wealthier adoptive parents, she has a massive collection of jewelry that she adores. More often than not, her neck, ears, and fingers are adorned in rings, earrings and necklaces. Some may argue her collection of items is a problem, but others may consider it a feat due to her low social status in comparison to such a collection. Nouveau has a cat named Violet! Ironically, Neu has what can be referred to as a Void Cat! More specifically, an Anglian Missier. Received after a long trip exploring Aloria, and one particular visit to Anglia, she carelessly put down a pretty penny for the cat, fascinated by the literal stars and galaxies in the animal’s eyes. She took the cat with her for the rest of her travels, naming her Violet. Since then, Violet has become a favored companion and a member of Neu’s large and growing family. Not to mention, the pet has become a natural favorite to her fiancé, who’s still very much attached to the void. Neu has kept close care for the animal, despite the recent famine, feeding the little house cat bits of food and scraps leftover that Neu’s children refuse to eat, or simply forget are on their plate. Neu has a closeted love for brownies. Neu refuses to let others know of her most favored midnight snack. Reason? Because she fears that her fiance, little ones, and family will steal her the sweet treat. She hides a stash of brownies in two places in her home, and always carries a bag of the treats with her to munch on if she get's hungry. Spoiler: Relationships Family - Blue Lovers - Pink Friends - Green Acquaintances - Black Enemies - Red Neige - “My precious daughter.” - Neige is Neu’s daughter of twins, and the weakest of her children. Being a halfling from Neu herself and an Altalar, most of Neu’s siblings and parental figures have a minor dislike for her- On the other hand, the Shenath mother cares deeply for her daughter, and plans to teach her everything she’s learned, as well as train her in the skill of forgecraft. Nallin - “My beloved son.” - Nallin is Neu’s son of twins, and the most capable of her children. Being a halfling from Neu herself and An Altalar, he lives the same scenario as Neige, favored only by his mother. Neu plans to help him step into the world as he ages, and offer him as much support as possible as he ages towards adulthood. Jull - “A little demon in disguise.” - Neu’s second to youngest daughter, Jull, or Julie, is the most rebellious of Neu’s children. Neu’s silver daughter frequently fights for what she wants, resulting in Neu commonly found ranting and trying to put her Isldar-Shendar halfling in her place. Blu - “My little Miracle.” - Neu’s first and only child with Yantho before he died. The Shenath, Neu, adores the child plenty, as it’s her last piece of Yantho, and the child she’d been looking to have for ages. Izel - “My darling Sunshine.” - Izel is Yantho’s son, and Neu’s beloved memory of her first committed love. He looks so similarly to Yantho, that the young Qadir is what drives Neu in the first place. He encourages her, and gives her reasons to keep going despite the loss of her beloved. Essentially, he really is her sunshine. Linn - “I can only hope there’s a way to properly raise the son of a harlot.” - Linn is not Neu’s son, rather, he is adopted, taken from one of Neu’s most hated, known people, Oeka. Neu took him from his mother, Oeka, in his late infancy, and has raised him since in attempts to offer him a brighter life, showing him discipline for his rowdy actions, alongside praising love when he does the right thing. Linn is under the assumption that he is Neu’s birth child, and never questions her otherwise. Kara - "You're definitely your father's daughter, dove." - Neu's first of triplet children with Mori. She's moreso her father's favorite, and due to this, Neu usually shoves the girl towards her father when she wants something due to her preference of him over her. Despite this, Neu loves and adores her all the same. Sael - "D'aww. Such a sweet thing." - Neu's second of triplet children with Mori. Although she'd never vocalize it, he's her favorite out of all her young due to how quiet and independent of a little one he is. Eilaine - “One of my little joys in life.” - Neu’s third of triplet children with Mori. This little one, both Neu and Mori share a common love for due to their frail nature, having become incredibly protective over one of their smallest little one. Zas’kince - “Probably more psychotic than he lets on.” - Neu’s friendship with her brother is a bit of an unstable one, similarly to all her siblings. The relationship between him and her is a difficult one depending on what problems their siblings cause, and what new disagreement they have. Kristence- “Sister, I’m sorry, but you’re a harlot..” - Neu and Kris, being siblings, are always disagreeing. They both have tempers that are beyond their capabilities of controlling, this resulting in their frequent hatred and arguing. Not to mention, Neu’s sister, having the nerve to call Neu a whore despite having a new man every week, is someone Neu refuses to agree with. They do have times where they find enjoyment in each others company, but it’s a rare sight. Josie - “I don’t hear from her a lot, but she seems stable enough.” - Neu rarely speaks to Josie, and even when she does, it’s usually very brief. They have a simple sister and sister relationship, enough said. Sann’le - “...Culty-brother-duuude..” - Neu and her brother Sann’le get along well. In fact, Sann is the only sibling Neu can speak to without it ending badly every other time they associate with one another. They both agree on many things having to do with their family, and sometimes exchange gossip about their siblings and father. Anna - “My sister.” - Neu doesn’t know much of Anna. She’s just her sister. They’ve only spoken once or twice, and are otherwise uncaring of each other and the others whereabouts. Xajo - “He cares. Sometimes.” - Neu’s father and her have not spoken often, but he has expressed that he cares, which is good enough for Neu to consider him as good a father as she’ll ever have. Thus, she’s greatful for her father. Or, as greatful as she can be, with how little she’s known her blood relatives. Mori - “Please- Don’t leave. Don’t ever leave.” - Mori is a man Neu trusts with her heart. The Kathar’s lost many, and frequently falls and rises in her journey. There’s been little triumph for her, and she prays to whatever gods are above that Mori will be the one who doesn’t die or diss her. Despite his promises, she frequently second guesses the idea of him staying around for as long as he says he will, this resulting in her being very possessive over her newfound lover. Yantho - “‘Till death do we part.” - Yantho, a Qadir Neu Met at a younger age, and had known for years, is the man who helped her raise her children, and become who she is today. Neu was preparing to propose to him, and the duo were trying to have a child with one another- Succeeding, only for Yantho to die before Neu could so much as find out about her pregnancy, let alone tell him. She mourns his death to today, and will for the rest of her years, no matter who she ends up with Keagan - “Pet me.” - One of Neu’s favored Ailor, Keagan is frequently found with the Shenath when he’s out and about, as she’s able to talk to him, and has relied on him once or twice before. He has gained her trust since, and they’ve bonded over the course of months. Where she doesn’t talk to him frequently now, she still holds a high amount of respect for him. Val - “You’re right- But so am I! Just- Shuddup.” - Neu’s favorite friend to butt heads with, Val is a dear friend of hers, alongside her oldest trouble causer. The duo have been through quite a bit over a short period of time, and it’s definitely taken a few sharp twists and turns along the way. The only word to describe them isn’t even a word- They could be called frenemies. Andrew - “A favor friend, and a talking friend. It’s two in one!” - Neu and Andrew have a strange friendship. Having had a variation of friendly conversations with him, and formed a solid friendship with the halfy, she considers him completely trustworthy, and gained the title of ‘arm rest’ in his book due to their height difference. Of course, their friendly attitudes have clashed into territory that never truly lasted- They’ve remained dear friends. Sylmaer - “Business partner? No! You’re my friend.” - Sylmaer and Neu have a sorts of friendships going on, however, Syl frequently does shoot her a seemingly joking insult, and Neu frequently jokes around and talks to him for the sake of a good laugh. However, they certainly don’t talk a lot- Something Neu wants to fix. Niel - "Your mother was a damn whore, but she clearly did something right for you to be such a good child." - Nouveau accepts Niel as a friend, solely because they can come to an agreement that Oeka, Niel's mother, is a terrible creature. That, and they appear to share a common attitude, which proves for interesting conversation. Tua - “Drunkard, but a good drunkard.” - Tua is a good friend of Neu’s, and he’s defended her on multiple accounts. Truly, she considers him a trusted and favored friend, and rarely strays from their level of trust, unless she truly needs to. Zellin - “A cutie with an accent” - Neu considers Zellin a relatively close friend despite their short time knowing one another. They’ve bonded to a point of absolute comfortability, and Neu has found herself on a rapidly growing level of trust with the Drow. They have no title for this trust, and haven’t discussed a middle line. And so, Neu remains clingy and touchy to her newly found best friend any time she finds him or is found around him; All in all, he’s become her newly found forth table leg, correcting her to her full capabilities once more. Shae - “A big ol’ cat.” - Neu and Shae are pals, with Neu defending the Varran with all the power she has. The Kathar does such for the sake of proving that, like Kathar, Varran are great too. She sees Shae as the one to uncover the fact that Varran aren’t at all stupid or as shady as history says, and hopes to watch the woman succeed as she ages with the cat person. Katrina - “Kitty-Kat.” - Katrina is an elf which is seen as an idol to Neu. The Isldar has become a respective part of the Regalian community, and Neu aspires to be at her level one day, despite how difficult such a path has proven to be over the years. Lambert - “...So you’re a goat man now?” - Neu and Lambert’s friendship has not changed since he was an Ailor, and still won’t now that he’s an Url. They tend to joke and brag to each other about their latest achievements, and truly, they are good friends. At least, they are in Neu’s eyes, and they always will be as well. Garth - “Viduggla? More like Vidugay. PaHAHA.” - Neu is friends with the Viduggla known as Garth whether he likes it or not- Nor has she ever taken the time to really find out. All she knows is that he seems to respect her in a way strangers or higher people of standing normally don’t, and thus, he has received her friendship and support in return, if he ever does need it. Merril - “A kind giant, you are.” Neu has befriended Merril only recently, but has since considered her to be the friendly giant of the Golden Willow tavern. Neu frequents there to get drinks and banter with the blonde, but otherwise keeps to herself. Seraphina - “Aye— You! You’re tall.” - Neu likes to tease and banter with the Avanthar, and usually their encounters involve either a lot of laughter, or mellow bonding. It’s a comfortable friendship. Ally - “A supportive warrior of a woman.” - Neu met Ally once at the citadel, and has since been friends with her. The woman has helped Neu on many occasions, starting with something as simple as a scalpel for self defense, and going as far as backup in the dragon crisis and in situations where the woman happens to be around for major support. Aurnia - “Flirty shorty.” - Aurnia is a fiery little redhead that has gained Neu’s respect through playful jabs and joking flirting. Truly, the little woman has earned the title of a dear friend to Neu, and thus, Neu will protect the little woman under any means, as she is, in the eyes of the Kathar, a precious thing. Jinuep - “Mere!” - Jinuep is Neu’s beloved mother figure, and her main support beam in most of her times of trouble. She’s comforted her with the motherly tone Neu lacked as she grew up, and given her the support she needed, as well as received it from the friendly Ash Skin. Nev - “You don’t deserve her.” - Nev, as Jin’s lover, and Neu’s only father figure left, is someone she surprisingly butts heads with a lot. Nev, being someone who cares very little for Kathar and Neu, being the Shenath which was taken in by his loved. This relationship makes things awkward, and after Nev was caught spitting on the Shenath kind like they were rats, Neu upheld a facade of hatred- But never truly brought the problem to Jin, in fear of worsening her relationship with Nev. Deep down, he’s a friend. But on the outside, she makes it a point to antagonize him. Silver - “Bipolar. She overestimates me one day, then underestimates me the next.” - Neu’s thoughts on Silver are- Well. Neutral, and ever changing. Silver has commonly stood as a threat to Neu, but simultaneously, stood as her friend. The relationship and thoughts on the Ailor have been frought and spotty around the edges, and her opinion is always fluctuating, entirely dependent around Silver’s actions and choices. Their trust for one another, as far as Neu knows, is irrelevant and nonexistence. In some ways, they are frienemies. Meuder - “A flirty f*ker.” - Meuder, being someone who frequently flirts with her, is someone Neu can’t help but lead on and tease. Of course, she has no intentions of forming a relationship with him, and only plans on offering him friendship. Ildan - “You get used to playing the role of a blood bag. Y’know?” - Ildan and Neu have a somewhat complicated relationship. Neu ongoingly clings to the Sanguine, and he remains extremely protective of her, feeding off her, and considering her his property. This results in aggression when Neu gets too close to another person around him. Nonetheless, it’s a tight relationship, and the duo have frequent meetings to upkeep his appetite. Bjarke - "He's not the nicest. But also not the worst." - Bjarke, being a mere acquaintance to Neu, is certainly a personality she views uncertainly. She has yet to form a proper opinion on him. Bruce - “He was my right hand- used to be reliable in every way of the word.” - Bruce was one of Neu’s most trusted friends. The duo of Shenath shared a bond like no other, and Neu especially held the other Shenath dear to her. They’d protected and defended each other throughout multiple accounts, and been through more than most. From him being her midwife for each of her children, to him comforting her in her darkest of times- Though, time breaks all bonds, and after Bruce and Neu’s continued arguments, Neu demanded he not associated with her family, and removed him from her life. They aren't really acquaintances, they've known each other a long while. But for now, Neu would prefer to consider him one. Leufred - “A dangerous disgrace. What does it feel like to be at my level?” - Neu hates Leufred with a passion, despising his temper and his willfulness to openly insult and belittle her. Ever since Neu took note of his change to a Witchblood, however, she’s developed an even harsher despise for him, strangling back the insults and arguing with all she has when she does speak to him. She’s tried treating him respectfully, and it hasn’t ever ended well. And thus, with him continuing on with his antagonizing despite being no better than her, the dislike grows with each encounter she has with him. Ryuu- “Disgusting rat.” - Neu has many reasons to hate Ryuu, starting with the amount of times the woman has harmed people Neu holds fear to her, and continuing into a list too long to go into fuller detail about. The woman has proved to be filth in Neu’s eyes, and always will be. Oeka - “Trust is a fragile thing, and so are you.” - Neu has held a burning hatred for Oeka for ages, likely only because of a competitive nature Neu has held. When it comes to other Shenath, Neu has trouble maintaining healthy relationships with them when she works with them every day. When around other Shenath, she feels the need to prove she’s top dog, and Oeka has been a challenger of that title for ages now. Neu has full intentions to one day embed it into Oeka’s head who has the upper hand, merely taunting her on the occasion she may see her for now- But on more hateful occasions, or when Neu is in a particularly bad mood, this taunting becomes harassment, and in some cases, blatant violence towards the woman Neu has long since gained more and more reasons to want removed from the world’s surface. Neu was born in the Dread Empire on December 27th, and moved to Reglia with her unknown mother. She was shortly after, put in an Orphanage. Kicked out at age seven, and taken in by a gang of misfits at age eight, she lived the rest of her childhood with this group, and referred to them like family, being trained by the leader and her father figure, who she only remembers by the nickname of Key. Key strangely disappeared, leaving another person in this group to train her. She jumped between the slums and Regalia frequently, and lived out her days causing mischief and trouble as a teenager- alongside her Atraves training of course. Her new friend Yantho took control of this group, and assisted in her learning Atraves. Neu befriended a du Polignac named Helene, who taught her to read and write- And even how to speak in d’Ithanie. Later- Neu met an Avanthar named Jinuep in this time, who became a mother figure in her life- And even refers to the woman as ‘Mere.’ As a new adult, Neu lived an adventurous life. She cared for a family she’s started to form over the years- Three children she’s had herself, three she adopted, and one on the way- As well as mourning her now deceased Love, Yantho. She adopted two young ones while in Regalia, and later came back in contact with her father and many siblings. She had yet to find her mother. She relied greatly on Bruce, who supported her and her family with a helping hand when he could. Alongside him, she relied on her dearest friends and family, that ranging from her brother, to her friend Silver, even to fellow Shenath she’s befriended, such as Mori, Meuder, Sylmaer, Ildan and Andrew. She sold weapons as she progressively learned to craft weapons, a skill Yantho taught her before he passed away, and she frequently ventured throughout Regalia on her own entertaining Adventures. As of recent, Neu’s life began fluctuating and changing. Her father, who she’d met only recently, left Regalia with his only legitimate daughter, leaving Neu as the only tribe leader in Regalia for her family. And thus, she’s begun trying to tie everything together, and keep her family in tact, all the while balancing a new, budding relationship with Mori, and the stress of losing old friends. Over the years, many people have died on her, and many people have left her. Nonetheless, she’s tried her best to keep herself happy, along with her family. With the ups and downs of the dragon crisis, and her joining the war against the elves, things have begun changing for her at a level she’s still working to grasp. With so much disorganization, the future is hard to make out for the Kathar, and it’s sure to change her mentally, and physically. Spoiler: Progression Edit - Blood and Sand On another line, Nouveau Tempete reached the top herself but was quickly grabbed by one of the Elves. She struggled to reach her weapon, but the other elf was quicker, tossing her back towards the sands below the boat. She landed with a sickening crack as her leg was jammed upward into her hip, breaking the bones in her leg and pelvis alike. - Link to the Progression Post Spoiler: Progression Edit - The Day Magic Lashed Regalia Nouveau Tempete- in the presence of various other Violets- had laid out her own efforts to aid in the ordeal to the very best of her abilities. The Kathar, light on her feet and fit for agility and speed with a pole arm, distracted, restrained, or helped to halt what Url entered her’s or others near her’s range of distance. Her goal was clear in that period of time, and her efforts went solely towards being of use from the start to the finish of the fight. She followed through with each demand given to her, earning herself a few broken ribs after becoming victim to two separate cases of charging Url, as well as bloodied and scraped arms from her efforts to keep herself from skidding across the concrete with both hits. Nonetheless, she did the best she could, relentless until it was over. By the end of it all, she was left bruised and battered, but beyond ready to aid in the cleaning process. She staggered along with the various crowds, offering a helping hand where she saw possible in the effort to cleanse the city of the debris and void clay. When all was said and done, the Dark Elf fled back home to ensure the safety of her loved ones, and celebrate the success of the fight with a few drinks. Apologies for the wait, I've had a long, busy week. Here is my review: Personality and Abilities The last sentences or so in the first paragraph seems to more so apply to the third paragraph. Erase them from the first paragraph. Specifically these: We really only get two sentences that describe her outward, closed off behavior around strangers. These sentences hold a lot of potential to depict something more detailed. This is more so food-for-thought: In the morality paragraph, it is said that Nouveau relates more to the outsider-class races within Regalia. As listed further up, she has a desire to earn some sort of recognition or power. I think this paragraph would be a good place to incorporate that goal or how she might want to accomplish that. What I mean by that is, does she intend to earn the approval and trust of the outsiders or does she want to climb the ladder by befriending the accepted races that choose to look past her race? Make your edits in a legible red then tag me when you have completed them. @SnashuuPomaymay
Done! I rewrote a lot of her morality because I realized that I should more so be detailing with how she acts around Ailor, being as that’s the dominant race in Regalia. Thank you for the advice! As for how she’s percieved by others, I removed the details about befriending her, and replaced them with details on how she acts around and towards strangers, as well as how she acts in public at the end.
