Spoiler: l i f e s t o r y e x t e n d e d 【♦】A child was left on the doorstep of a local church in a countryside village with a note; detailing the child’s origins, and their name. They were born out of wedlock in a tryst between a curate of the church and a peasant woman on the isle of Basta, who had since fled to avoid the wrath of the authorities for her conception. 【♦】With Nora as a reminder of the celate’s succumbing to temptation, the celate did all he could to enjoy their company; they were his child, after all, but he could not help but feel utmost resentment toward them -- the physical consequence of his unfaith. They were often handed off to the nuns because of this. 【♦】The church was the only for miles, and with the tension of pre-Tenth Creed culture between the churches, the non-Dogmatic clergymen had to keep their particular views as quiet as possible. One of these members was Sister Elise, an Evintarian nun who spent the most time with Nora and ended up being who Nora would call their mother. 【♦】Nora was an outside child, spending the majority of their time playing with the other children of the village in the nearby stream -- up until Elise handed them a mask -- claiming it would be the Everwatcher's greatest gift to them. Putting on the mask, their eyes turned a pale pink as they were rendered a Godborn. Their father was furious, terrified of the consequences of the conservative d’Ithanie village discovering what they thought to be a mage -- or, as he thought, a product of all things unholy -- in the village, nevermind in the church. 【♦】From that point on, Nora was strictly kept inside. Contact beyond the clergymen, if they even spoke to them anyway, became a distant concept that was far from tangibility as they continued their schooling within the church under the tutelage of Elise. She taught them about arcane blessings and the importance of the arcane beneath the Everwatcher’s will, and working toward the endeavour of celacy. They were also taught basic magic. 【♦】With their excellent progress in learning how to harness their gift and the new Reverency of their father, they were swept into Synod agency, working to rid of other magical nuisances that worked to oppose the will of the Everwatcher. They met fellow aberrants among these ranks. 【♦】With their work in the agency, they were taught how to wield certain weapons; a bident, and a flail, working with the designated tutor of the Synod. 【♦】Nora used this time with the agency to try to repair the lingering strands of whatever relationship they had with their father, doing what they could to appease him and to garner some form of recognition and praise for their hard work. It was, of course, to very little, if not no avail. 【♦】Returning back to the church in Basta after many weeks away, they were met with a vampire issue within the village. Reports of attacks had been coming in, followed by warnings from the authorities to stay inside after nightfall. The second day of their return came with the biggest attack yet -- a group of sanguine attacked the church, breaking in through the windows and the back doors. The scene was a bloodbath, and Elise’s blood contributed to the stains. Filled with utmost anguish, the Void essence embedded in Nora’s soul took a form; an angelic, statuesque creature, bearing holy robes of white and gold. The creature was merciless, adding to the blood with the assailant’s. 【♦】The Synod began to collapse when Nora was twenty-two. Their father became bedridden from the stress, grief and trauma, suffering from recurring nightmares from the night of the attack. He soon died from unknown, mysterious circumstances, and Nora took that opportunity to slip out from the church to fulfil their dream of becoming a curate. 【♦】Travelling further into Ithania, they joined an Evintarian church, where they completed their studies and graduated as a celate at twenty-four, in three-hundred and nine after cataclysm. 【♦】Getting into contact with an old friend from the agency, Nora set off for Regalia. 【♦】Naive as they are, Nora gave people, who definitely weren’t deserving of it, the benefit of the doubt, which resulted in grave consequences -- consequences that they believed they totally deserved for trusting those aligned with the Void. Even with the memory of the night back in home, the multitude of betrayals solidified their initial resentments. 【♦】Nora left Regalia after several years to complete some unfinished business within their old church. Thereafter, they met two wonderful women by the name of Frankie and Freya, and the three eventually wedded. They lived on a farm for several years, but Nora felt an urge to return to Regalia. Promising their wives they'd return soon, they set off. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ✠ ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ " The self is not so weightless, nor whole and unbroken.
