"I'm sorry."
The words were given no reply, the thin ginger that had spoken them leaning her head back against the wall with a sigh. She closed her eyes, shaking her head slightly. Void, she made a lot of mistakes recently- mistakes she can't reverse. The Claith lifted her hand to her cheek, touching her fingers to it lightly only to hiss in pain once more as she had every other time she'd checked to see if the bruise on her face was real. Honestly, she wasn't shocked that she got hit, she practically was asking for it with her mocking.
She did regret not punching him back though, she regretted going for the childish kick. He would've never expected her to punch him with her history. He deserved to be punched as much as she did. They were both terrible people. But she was the lesser of two evils, she knew that. She didn't sleep with every breathing thing like he did, she didn't break hearts.
Merina gave an exasperated sigh as she opened her eyes, staring at the bricks above her head. She missed him, really. He was her only friend, if you don't count the one that vanished off to no where. He actually protected her, he had said that he lo--.
The Claith knocked her head back against the wall, muttering to herself, "He was lying." He always did, didn't he? At least it seemed that way to her. He was the one that hurt her, she was innocent in this. She knew she was.
Silence sat around her for a moment, silence always had been sitting around her but now she noticed it. How can it be so loud inside your head yet so quiet around you? Maybe that was her issue, she kept hearing the argument that wasn't there. She kept creating the conflict that could've been avoided. Merina watched her fingertips with a dull gaze, flexing her fingers slightly. She was still the victim, she was always the victim and she was tired of it.
She wasn't going to be taken advantage of anymore., she wasn't sorry for what she did.
She lied to herself like always.
