I love this server so much, its my most favorite server on minecraft. Ive had so much fun rping in Regalia and the other lands, but something has happened thats begun to annoy me. Around the Emperors Tavern, I have begun to notice a huge amount of rping and meta-gaming. Normally I would ignore it, but what a certain guy said to me yesterday really got me angry.

I was rping in Regalia, by the Emperors Tavern when a man starts shooting arrows at me for no reason. He engages me in rp-fight, and when I go -fires arrow at him- He goes -deflects arrow with breath.-
I told him that was god-rping and it wasnt allowed, and he just goes "Look dude, Im not in the mood for rp."

Why the heck did he even fire arrows at me in the first place! Well, when I told him this, he just goes "Because, your rping sucks." This annoyed me so much, since he was just butting into rp. Then he asked me why I am even rping.
Why am I even rping? Because its a rp server and thats what your supposed to do! Im trying to promote rp. He tells me that no one actually rps on this server, and then says that theres no actual point in rp. He walks away, and Im more mad then ever. Its a rp server! He should just leave! That whole day was full of god rpers. I saw a guy even say -walks on fire like a god, throwing chair at man with his mind- Luckly, Aussiedog came and gave me good rp that morning.

What happened got me thinking. We all rp for fun, but many people come on this server and are just like "Lolz y r u rping lke tht nerd" I want to promote rp by rping in Regalia a bit more, but many people around Regalia just but in and pretend to blow everything up. I ignore them, but it really just ruins a good rp. I probaly met the first and only person to ever ask "To be explained the lore and rp." Me and my friend FlamingBolt sat down and explained to him god rping, and the rules of magic.

I know were supposed to tell others on how to improve rp, but whenever you do that they curse you out. Rping with my friends has been ruined a little, since theres always one random guy who will come in and be like "-bites joseph- you are a werewolf now."

Today, I saw two people rping in the tavern and one seemed to being summoning magic from everything around him, and the other seemed to be from another dimension. I told the guy about what magic was supposed to be, but he just cursed me out. Finally, they actually listened and I kind of explained magic to them, but they said "Were elves, we were born magical and have a infinite amount of aura." Many more people have been meta-gaming and god rping then in the past, and its getting on my nerves. Thank goodness some times I actually have a fun rp without any one butting in.

Well, I just thought I should express my thoughts. Im trying to point out that we should explain the lore and god rping when new people join the server. It would prevent more people from god rping, and they would understand the lore. I know new people are supposed to get "A new feeling to the server." but this has gotten out of hand. People have nicknames like "Nyan cat" and "Awzome dudez."
This servers fun, but its getting irrating for me.

I just kinda wanted to express my opinion, and this will probaly be deleted some time soon. If it gets locked or a flame war starts it will be deleted. I try to ignore all the god rpers as much as I can, but there hard to ignore. I remember the older days when there werent as many "dj hoodie skins" and god rpers. I need help finding a way to ignore these people and try to promote rp. Luckly there might be more people like Phoenix, the guy who asked to be explained the lore and rp.

I feel the same way about RP-ers as you do in a way. I role play around the tavern and haven't seen a lot of god Rp-ers. I've seen people with DJ Hoodie skins and "odd" nicknames. The amount of people who use "modern day" skins on the server is kind of overwhelming. I find it annoying to role play with someone with a hoodie skin. To me, it shows that they are un-original and un-creative about making their own skin. I've asked some people why a hoodie skin is "cool" and most of them say "Because its cool". I honestly don't see how an unoriginal, overused skin is "cool".

I noticed there was no "I like god Rpers" option in the poll. How am I supposed to vote?

In all seriousness, I try to lead by example. I try to promote talking over the constant fighting that occurs with two god rpers. It's harder to be a god character in chat, yes? I mean, recently I did try to provoke this orc into a brawl, but that was for more personal reasons. The best thing to do I think, is just steer the chat in the right direction, and try to involve as little OOC help as possible. For example-

Beautiful Me: So, what do you do for fun? got any hobbies or talents?
Mr. Nooblet: Well I can levitate things with my mind and I'm also immortal
Beautiful Me: -laughs- No, seriously. Those aren't really hobbies or talents anyways, even if you could do that. I myself enjoy practicing archery. What do you do?
Mr. Nooblet: Well I sometimes go fishing with my friend Professor Nooblington.

Yay the noob did it! Granted that was a rather dry case of RP, but typically what I do in talking is I just show complete uninterest in any special skill they try to declare, and hopefully they take a hint. Now, it's harder to do this in combat, if someone goes -Blasts golemlord with their ultra death ray plasma magic and incinerates him.-, but at that point I will get involved with OOC and offer to link them to the roleplay threads on the forums.

Another thing that I feel helps is to link the person to my character introduction, or the introductions of friends that I feel have done a good job with making a balanced character. I never link magic characters, not because they are bad, but it is best not to suggest a magical character, because an inexperienced player often has trouble balancing magical powers, and getting a grasp on the magic system. Anyways, I feel that when I show noobs other character introductions, it shows them the kind of character that they should make. No, I'm not saying that they will copy the person, but it just gives them a general idea of how most people conduct roleplay.

Thats good, I try to do that and when I tell them about the forums they go "Nope who the hell cares." But I do agree with you. Some of the new people can be taught, you just need to find the right way to teach them.

And that is why. Stay away from the tavern Well.. Im assuming it was at the taven. all the god RP/Just plain bad RP i've noticed is there. I hate that place.... and to top it all 99% of the time there is a fight.

I hate god role playing as much as everyone else, but just try your best to ignore it. When you give them attention, it gives them an opportunity to god role play even more. For example, I was in the tavern a while back and an anti-crimson walked up. This is basically what happened:

Anti-Crim: -punches Tom's nose-

Me: -raises his hands to protect his face from further blows-

Anti-Crim: -kicks Tom in the chest knocking him over-

And then I left. I'm not good at RP fights at all, so don't judge. :(

Teaching them is the best thing to do, but they never listen saying "Its not god rp." Then they say "-Steals energy from flowers which die, then throws typhoon at you-"

In my experiences role-playing on different mmorpg's the age of the community has the greatest impact. For example the God rp you're speaking of reminds me a lot of Third-grade recess and the such which quite frankly makes sense at that age. However this is really just a generalization of the Community that partakes in "God-rp" or for that matter wears Emo Hoodie skins.

The reason that I have a "Emo Hoodie skin" is that I share my account with my brother AND HE REFUSES ANY OTHER SKIN THAN HIS OWN.

1. Just change your skin when you log on, and change it back when you log off.
2. If it's the emo hoodie skin that I would guess at least 5% of the minecraft user population uses, is it really his own?

Some of the fights are actually decent though. Me and MarekDredros had a fight there and it went off extremely well and lore-compliantly (albeit some guy kept swearing in chat at us for fighting. Pacifism is drunk, lulz).

The easiest way is to counter or keep them pre-occupied with talking. Another method is to go out with friends.

There should be a rule whereas people can only use enough power that they absorb from the conduit. For example, if someone absorbed from flowers, they should only be able to do small magical skills, such as make other flowers grow further.

I see your point. Kids that age are always like "No, because I magic the dragon away and now I'm the king!", and most people do things like that when they're young players (Young as in under 13) or just new. For example, a man who steals books is allegedly King of Northern Ithania.

The reason that I have a "Emo Hoodie skin" is that I share my account with my brother AND HE REFUSES ANY OTHER SKIN THAN HIS OWN.

Swap skins without him knowing. I have 3 skins currently between my two characters. It only takes about a minute, on the laggiest of computers.

That is a good point (On the the matters) But I still dislike the tavern for its overall (as far as i've seen) Poor RolePlay quality.

And as far as the age thing.. Im a perfect example. When I began rping (not on this server) I was under 13, I was the most God RP Rper youve ever met. ;(

But I must say, I know several people under the age of 13 with very good RP quality and lore compliance..

the tavern is swarmed with god-rpers sadly and i hate it. its irritating and im sometimes forced into rps by people saying "-throws fireball at Shikia's face burning off half of her face-" and it annoys the crap outta me, i dont use magic i usually use just potions and things like that. people are always fighting me and crap like that ALSO, i CANNOT stand it when people use movie names "Katniss, Primrose, peeta" Yeah, no. They didnt exist in the setting of The server so that REALLY needs to stop. its absoutely annoying. Due to my RP character having the two people in her body, (read her bio for info.) People perposely get Shikia Mad and it triggers Yuuki coming out purposely and due to the fact that yuuki is easily angered she fights often and people use that to advantage. It aggrivates me because people go and do that. i think there should be an event where the mods themselves talk about god rpers and tell the ones who do it to stop. i donno, just an idea.

Good roleplayers know where to find good roleplayers, and it's not at the Emperor's Tavern.

"Me and my friend Zeizkal sat down and explained to him god rping, and the rules of magic." Tin? This comments pretty off topic but uh... are you talking about FlamingBolt? And if ya are... it's Zadkiel, not Zeizkal... But What do I know? This could be a different person.(H)

I agree with all of you, God Rping is frustrating. Usually, I just ignore it though. On a side note, however, I think I can be a decent enough Rper, but my problem is that I never see anyone rping. Anyone know a good place to go to find some good rp people?

Just stroll around Regalia, you will find people. I enjoy rping in the sewers, and near the Heretic church, but that doesnt exist anymore. xD

Who the heck voted BAN THEM ALL!?

I only go to the Emps Tavern when I want to roleplay as an angry drunk who shouts a lot... which is very good roleplay when dealing with godrpers haha.

The amount of emo hoodie skins these day are too much. Most of the time I go to spawn I see at least 5+ people with hoodie or "cool guy" skins.

The reason that I have a "Emo Hoodie skin" is that I share my account with my brother AND HE REFUSES ANY OTHER SKIN THAN HIS OWN.
I doubt that is his hoodie skin. Have you not seen the amount of minecraft players in the world that use hoodie skins? If you go on skindex and look at the first page they show. About 50% of the skins are hoodie or cool guy skins. I've never used a hoodie skin before :D

He does them himself, or changes one little thing about an existing one.

Uhm...er....

Anyway, the Emperor's Tavern is horrible. There's a fight there basically every time I walk in, and in that fight someone's breathing fire or "turns invincible" or something along those lines. Then over in the corner there's someone with the nickname "Dog poo-poo".

Then you give someone the possibility to choose powers for themselves, this is what happens, I personally think its just really an attemp to be as unique as possible, instead of playing a "regular" character, they choose to play a psychic-ninja-kraken-sayian-kitsune-knight-asura-wolf-dragon from uranus that is also the god of destruction and war and can kill anything by thinking of it because that is "better", the other day there was a cursed enderdragon and a demigod fire demon who had an epic fight to death at the tavern, I wish more people would talk to them and tell them what they do wrong.

Yes but sometimes when you talk to them, sometimes they will listen, but other times they will curse you out and tell you to go away.

If you and you only utter a weak attempt at explaining them why they should not be doing that, their ego is guaranteed to be drugged enough to ignore you, but if more people do it, they will realize that the numbers are agains them, exept in some special cases, but i would'nt want those special snowflakes on the server anyway.

This is why I am trying to get white listed on another, much stricter, roleplay server. Honestly I find that no matter how much you teach them or refer them to help, two more god-rp'ers take that ones place. Really the only way I see to fix this is to make it so it is required that you either make an character application or have clear understanding of how to rp and the server lore before you are allowed to be a full member or even join the server. That is just my opinion of course so don't take it to seriously :D

Perhaps get a bunch of low level admins who are known to be very skilled roleplayers and give them mute rights on people who roleplay in a crappy/not abiding by server lore manner.

I was 5 when I started roleplaying (I am still very young;( ) I never god roleplayed once. Now at recess when Ever I hear someone say "I have a bullet proof face" I yell "NO ONE PLAYS WITH A ROBOT T-REX THAT SHOOTS LAZER BEAMS AND HAS A SHIELD OF DEAD SUPERMANS!" Who ever said in the first place Tell me please because I really wanna quote that in my signature. Also the only reason I have hoodie skin with a waffle mask is cause' I recently joined a modern gang server.
