What has happened to this server as of late?
I hear things that are even being thought about that could ruin the unique experience of factions today. I am always a toxic guy these days but come on people, what happened to those of you who actually not only full on pvp, where are your voices!
I hear that there was talks about things like 'Dtr' and this even being talked about gives me a reason to leave. what have we become? HCF? is it truly a need to make big changes when the rest has yet to be fixed, is it truly a need to blatantly focus only on survival as the staff team shouldnt have to do this? the COMMUNITY has the most power in the server, as without a community there is no server, without no community there is no pvp or survival OR rp, but we seem to steer factions into the hands of the staff team and that makes me sick.
Is this truly what the pvpers think is best for MASSIVE instead of their own personal gain? have they laughed at the rpers when they were driven away from factions countless of times and still to this day? have we sat down for a moment and actually adress the REAL problems this community faces instead of doing the same loop over and over till there is no point of return? Is it truly a laughable thing whenever i speak i get disregarded or a solid NO to my face, I understand i usually don't give backup arguements as i'm personally not good at backing things up but i know for a fact that things that are being done right now will end in such a way that it will affects massivecraft's actual unique character.
I care more for survival because from survival can come pvp, from pvp can barely come survival as the only thing a pvper requires is a dr and a base and stuff. This might come to see as an act of salt but as i know for a fact i probably COULD have given more but it is just so hard to do anything to contribute here since i was so restricted as it took me forever to get staff and actually do the things i wanted to do, but did people actually take me serious, probably not. People need to understand that Change is good, but when you don't fix the things that have been done before then there is very little effect to change things. pvp doesn't come when you toggle dynmap show for everyone, barely to the fact that all that happens is pvpers killing the survival community once more due to a imo poor choice of direction of the community, where is this ending us into? I have gotten advice but to be completely honest, i'm tired of it, i really am, why else would i not be playing today, do i still enjoy what massive calls itself to this day? no, i do not. "Then why are you still around?" one might ask, Well because once i did care and i do want this community to stay and prosper, but it seems some others have other feelings about this all. These days aswell you have factions pop up that are always the same old click and such and you get a cooldown because of factions like for example asteria spamming the recruitment chat hungering over recruits that they move with anyways? Or other factions that just ruined their chances with inactivity or that just meme and boast at how good their at pvp, like give it a break people and look as a community towards this and not like reform this server into a goddamn hcf community, it really saddens me and probably doesn't make me look good either in this post but i am genuinely done with the fact that whenever i do something i get absolutely shat on because i am toxic once or twice, or for a good while. It shouldnt matter as i really don't mean half the things i say. The mindset of people these days is so self centered aswell. it is a disgrace to what we had been trying to build in my whole 2 years of playing this server, probably longer but at this point it people rather forget then actually seek the problem at heart.

But the long story short as this is just a lot of repeating points "I Personally believe to fix the pvp community there is a need for the people themselves to initiate pvp, and not actually complain so much about any tiny thing because they might have a disadvantage for once, come on and actually fight."
And towards the rpers in the end, you could try out factions atleast a few times, but it is not something people demand of you, but atleast try it out.
Towards the staff i have no ill intent to but i just ask for improvement, as that is something i clearly couldn't achieve during my period, i don't really want toxicity in this post as i just genuinely think that i could not bother trying to argue anymore, i'm tired and i'm getting older by the day. what else could someone ask of me?

First off I'd like to shut down any rumors you've heard of DTR. There is no such thing in the works nor should there ever be.

As for dynmap hide, I reject your hypothesis. The idea that more raiding only benefits the high end PvPers on the server is simply not true. Raiding is the core of this server. Raiding creates drama and narrative for any new player which is essential if we want them to stay interested and continue to have goals on the server. We should never look to prevent raiding. However, that doesn't mean we want new factions to be raided into the ground, which is why raid/war rules have been put in to place as protective measurements. Dynmap hide being removed has not only increased the amount of active fighting going on between proven PvPers, but also the amount of new player vs new player interaction, which is vital for this server's survival. Many non PvPer survivalists have also agreed that this was a good move, as it has increased the general feeling of community in Essalonia.

Aside from that, I don't really understand what your issue with the current server is. If you're worried about the server transforming into an HCF server, please explain how that's being done?

if you actually think massive is turning into an HCF server you have 0 understanding of what HCF is lmao

Personally things are being changed to fast to quickly, alot is being removed rather than kept, wich is why i think it removes unique aspects of massive

Sub, I like that you are giving an opinion confidently. Perhaps not static, but an opinion nonetheless. But, MassiveCraft isn't the same server it was years ago. It's a faction server, not a KitPvP or skyblock server. It's never going to be the same consistently. I'm sure that the current staff decisions are increasing the chance of keeping new players. You may not like it personally, but others seem to. Try to learn and savor the community of Massive, because I'm telling you, it's unique.

Generally stuff needs to change. I think its going alright from an outside view. My time in the Factions discord basically hammered home the fact that people just wanted changes faster. Stuff was SLOW, like slow to the point of being dead sometimes before. Progress was a corpse people kicked around to try to get to do anything. Now its all up on strings Weekend at Bernies style and this analogy has fallen apart.

Lack of stuff changing and happening is what slashed Factions/Survival's community in half several times over the last few years. Stuff looks good to me. Better to move forwards and make a few missteps than to curl up in a ball and suck your thumb for eternity.

As for this, honestly Factions has nothing to offer most RPers that isn't already provided far better in Regalia. People who want lighter RP are already in Factions.

NGL I haven't been here for a little while but if massive is an HCF now I'm out

I agree with Sevak- what do you mean by this? I may not rear my head often lately, but I haven't noticed much being taken away from factions.

Watching fit once is watching fit too much.
Used to love watching videos on all that juicy blockgame drama though
I'm a regular donator to Fit, I tried to convince him a few times to come to Massive, but he hates factions, also nothing really got him to do here, siege?

In general, you didn't do yourself too many favors by formatting your post to be like the hardest to read thing ever, as well as most of the post being really incoherent and mismatched thoughts just throw onto the page. I'd work on that if you ever want people to take you seriously.

From what I can gather from your post, you're unhappy because you think Massive factions might turn into an HCF styled factions and implement some type of "dtr" system. I've always personally enjoyed the way Massive factions is setup, because you can actually spend some time building a medieval styled base to protect your members and items, rather than the obsidian water layered monstrosities you see on your traditional HCF server. Massive does a good job of moving PVP beyond blowing the shit out of your enemy's bases with TNT, and actually making PVP about the physical player versus player. I definitely think it would be mistake to try and change any of that, which is what makes Massive unique, but I also think it's ok to experiment with different elements of different play styles seen on other factions servers.

Just from a quick google of "dtr", I think with some tinkering to make it fit into Massive's already existing framework of non traditional HCF, we could possibly alleviate the issue we're having with people not defending their/not taking deaths seriously. We couldn't get rid of faction power though, because it's tied to claiming, but we could devise our own dtr system and then tailor the effects to what we know wouldn't be too OP for Massive.

Honestly I don't think it would be a bad idea to experiment and modify some ideas seen on other servers. We we're doing right now obviously isn't working, so I don't think there's any harm in exploring some alternate ideas and seeing what works/what doesn't.

A form of DTR I think might actually vaguely work ish would be making it so when Land > Power (or some other metric we make for Massive specifically) enemies factions gain the ability to use doors and levers etc to enter deeper into the base maybe? But even that has a lot of issues like. Kind of just takes the side thats getting their shit kicked in and makes it easier for the people already dominating them to keep kicking their shit in. So that doesnt really work. As a tamer version of DTR though its better than the usual.

Basing our system of DTR off of Land > Power wouldn't work because fixing the issue would be too hard.

Imagine you're being raided and you didn't realize you were overclaimed. Say some people left the faction the day before or were kicked from inactivity. Now to stop the raiders from having their advantage because you're overclaimed, you've got to fix your power issue quickly. You've only got two ways: recruit more members with power or reduce your land. We know recruiting will be too difficult. You have to tell people "Hey, I'm recruiting you because we're being raided relentlessly and we need you to boost our power."

Your other option is to reduce your land claimed, and we've seen how forcing people to unclaim land doesn't improve the overall health of the individual faction or the faction community overall. I think we have to accept that faction overclaim is a necessary bloat, and enforcing it too hard poses significant detriment to the faction community overall.

I think we actually tie our version of DTR to the physical action in the name, deaths. It makes sense to me. If we have a DTR system, it should really only negatively affect factions when they're being raided and a certain amount of kills are met, not when they accidentally end up overclaimed. It would also make sense, because the raiders have to work to get the kills to deplete someones DTR, and factions leaders/officers would have to put an emphasis on teaching their newer members not to go out and die for stupid reasons.

Yeah, I'm personally not really a fan of overclaim punishments, other than faction tax.

this is getting kinda heated can we go back to making fun of the fact that sub compared massive to HCF

I will start by saying I've never played an HCF server before, so I'm not INCREDIBLY informed. But I must say that based off of what I've seen, Massive isn't and will never be, an HCF server. And I adamantly believe that bringing in new and fresh ideas should never be looked down upon.

I know you've got good intentions in mind Sub, but your points and arguments don't seem to have much behind them. Change is good, that's just the way it is.
