Whether by lust for loot, excitement for discovery, or another reason entirely, the crew of the Sun's Vigil set out to the Cour de Ciècle in high hopes. Ztrava Ztonzil had much to offer to any band daring enough to venture forth into the newly unearthed ruins, and so Aeron Cullas, Nalani Starikov, Sergei Gromonov, and Louis LeBeau were eager to explore the sand-dusted city of the ancient Tigrans. Proceeding to speak with one of Ztrava's lackeys who directed them towards a buried entrance, the group of four collected up supplies and tools, and headed on their way.

This 'entrance' was a sandstone doorway half-hidden by sand and crumbling blocks of rubble, overshadowed by a tilted sandstone statue with the visage of a cat and two dust-filled copper braziers. The head of the cat seemed to be propped up by one of these braziers, and given that the supports on which they lay were crumbling, the Sun's Vigil gang would have to be careful. The blocks of rock and brick barring the doorway were enormous, big enough for even the mighty Ur Sergei to struggle. Nonetheless, all four began to excavate the doorway: Aeron and Louis using picks and shovels to dig and break chunks, Sergei picking up larger boulders and ferrying them away, and the petite Yanar seedling, Nalani, doing lighter tasks such as clearing small pieces to the side and keeping lookout. In fairness to the group, they managed to clear the majority in only an hour or two and break away enough of the rubble to catch sight of the entryway and an opening. However, despite all of their hard work, Sergei's weak leg eventually gave in due to the elongated stress from the weight of the rocks and the long period of hard labour, leading to the Ur dropping a particularly bulky slab against a wall and causing one of the loose braziers to come tumbling down upon the group. Louis and Aeron were safely out of the way, but Sergei and Nalani were right below at that point. Luckily they managed to deftly dodge the falling debris mere moments before they could have been crushed.

"Whew," wheezed Aeron, helping the little Yanar to its feet while Louis offered Sergei a hand up. That was definitely a close shave for the band. After taking a few well-earned minutes to gather their breath, they clambered through the darkened opening and made their way inside. As time had progressed, the city became coated, but inside there was no sand to be found. The interior was black as tar and only a few thin strips of dirt speckled light penetrated the darkness. Thus, lighting up a few torches to dimly light the way, the Sun's Vigil group headed inside. Before them lay an unchartered section of the city, and it happened to be particularly well guarded in the days when it was frequented by the Tigran population. Hidden amidst the darkness lay traps - traps which none of the group noticed as they skulked about, yet Aeron was kept safe after being distracted by a faded mural lit up on one of the walls, taking interest in the art and symbols depicted there.

The same could not be said for the Ailor, Yanar, and Ur who stepped out into an enclosed courtyard area with elaborate, decorative panelling and tiles on the floor. Louis and Nalani were the first to make a mistake by placing their feet onto a set of certain tiles created to prevent invaders from entering the private vaults. A sudden hiss and sputter could be heard whispering through the floor below them, and what appeared to be a thick pinkish gas began seeping through the cracks in the flooring. The trio darted off from the floor, not wanting to be affected by whatever mysterious alchemical gas this might be. Sergei, however, inhaled quite a nasty amount of the gas and was racked with a mighty coughing fit. The gas appeared to be poisonous to an extent, but its potency had decreased over the centuries and merely caused Sergei to be highly winded and out of breath for some time. Aeron caught up with the group by skirting around the poison floor, but groaned further as Sergei stepped on another panel. The echoes of stone grating on stone bounced through the spacious hallways before them, and the four could hear what sounded like confused voices coming from a passageway to their left.

Eight Tigriss Tigrans suddenly poured through said opening, apparently coming for the same reason as Aeron's group had. However, these Tigrans weren't going to let the four take whatever prize awaited them. They pounced, some with pickaxes as their weapon and others using nothing but their claws and canines to fight with. Aeron and Louis took on four, the former slashing at a few of the Tigrans with his machete and the latter wielding a shovel. Aeron fought offensively, not being too strong and wanting to dispatch them quickly. He tackled two of the Tigrans head on, fighting ruthlessly like a wild pirate on the seas, and lopping the hand off of one Tigran. Louis meanwhile smacked at a few of the Tigrans with the blunt end of the shovel and managed to knock one clean out by hitting it so hard that it smacked its head against a pillar. Nonetheless, both of them received a few cuts and mild slashes from the claws of their opponents. As this happened, the somewhat dazed Sergei was pit against three Tigriss and had to fight them off at the same time as he recovered from his brief poisoning. One would think that Sergei would find it difficult in his present state, but he acted defensively and warded off all three with a combination of air magic blasts, whacks with his stick, and a volley of punches and kicks. He received very little in the way of injury, only a few bumps and grazes, though the same could not be said for the three unconscious Tigrans at his furry feet.

It would be little Nalani who would suffer the most, being in an extremely unfair circumstance wherein the Yanar was faced by a much larger foe and had no weapon to defend itself with. Nalani danced around the Tigran excavator and moved with the grace of an acrobat, but was caught by a blow to the temple with the butt of the Tigran's pickaxe, knocked out instantly. Louis came up behind the Tigran and finished it off with a violent and gruesome chop to its head with his shovel, leaving the group safe for now. Nonetheless, that rumbling of stone had not stopped since Sergei had first triggered the panel, and the group didn't wish to hang around any longer and have to face any more greedy intruders. Sergei picked up Nalani and dumped the Yanar over his shoulder while Louis began leading them out. By chance Aeron managed to trip over the rucksack of one of their previous opponents as he followed the Ur, Yanar, and Ailor out through the passageway. A faint glint of light from his torch upon metal caught his eye, and he knelt down to rummage through the sack, finding a weapon these intruding Tigriss had evidently picked up on their own journey through the tunnels: A curved bronze sword with a cat's head pommel on the hilt, two amethysts for the eyes, and strange angular patterns engraved into the blade. It would likely be of little use as a weapon after so many decades of lying unused in the dust, but it came as some fairly profitable loot if they wished to sell it.

Ztrava was relatively pleased. The rumbling of stone down in the hallways was scouted out and found to be a new opening down into new, undiscovered parts of the buried city that couldn't previously be accessed. Sergei, Aeron, Nalani and Louis were given a pouch of coins and sent off on their way, looking back only to see crowds of busy workers and slaves scurry about with tools and barrows laden with grit and dirt. The work they'd succeeded with was sure to allow Ztrava's project to move on much quicker than before.

It's been buried in dust and dirt for hundreds of years. He can sure try, but it may shatter or break.

Also I had some good fun writing this up :)
I'd suggest the blade being heat treated or reforged, but then, its not much of a relic after that i suppose
