Hey folks! This is an announcement about the changes made to Metallurgy in general, the various Materials in Aloria, and the updated Technology pages + more that are on the way. This will also serve as something of a hub for Metals and Technology based discussion amongst the community so that amendments and additions to these changes can be added in the near future.
  • Metallurgy Changes
  • https://wiki.massivecraft.com/Metallurgy
    • With the above said, the Metallurgy page itself has seen a total rework to reflect the changes in Lore over the last few years, including hook ins to various discoverable techniques, caches, and roughly explaining the various metal techniques and where they origin
  • Metals, Gemstones, Stones, and Crystal Changes
  • https://wiki.massivecraft.com/Materials
    • The above four classication of "metals" is done to ensure there is some logical divide betwee the materials found in Aloria.
    • Proficiency Usage
      • To procure/craft with Metals and Stones, you require a certain amount of Proficiency Points in Metallurgy Arts, and to procure/craft with Gemstones and Crystals you require a certain amount of Proficiency Points in Finecraft Arts.
    • Procurement/Storywebs
      • Underworld Knowlege, unless otherwise stated, allows for the procurement of these items at the same exchange rate, though this cannot be done for Starris, Skysteel, Blacksteel, Nightsilver, or Metalitra. These five metals comprise the upper echelon above "Steel" and are thus restricted to procurement in Storywebs, Lore Staff Approved Events in-game, or Progressions.
Otherwise, to possess an item made of Blacksteel, Nightsilver, or Metalitra, you -must- have this explicitly written into your Character Sheet and approved by a Lore Staff, and it must be stated under "Preferred Weapon". Criteria for possessing an "above Steel item" consists of heightened activity, the reasonable means to get the item in-character, roleplay with an active forge or shop location in Regalia, and the judgment of the Staff in question as to whether you will misuse the item. It is worth noting Starris and Skysteel are not going to be approved or even considered until a further change is made to the Special Permission Registry.
  • Technology Changes
    • https://wiki.massivecraft.com/Technology
    • All the existing Technology pages have been updated to fit the lore changes in the last few years. You'll notice we have not added many pages, and this is with good reason. We do not intend for the Technology section to be expanded too much without player interaction, in the form of Storywebs, Rp System Participation, and otherwise. In short, if you want something added to Technology, you should contact @LumosJared to be advised on how to go about discovering a Technology and driving roleplay as a result.
    • With that said, Technology pages may still be added based on community feedback, which is very much what this thread is for. Stating opinions on the overall update, Metals, Technology, or otherwise are welcome.

A note, I think it would also be helpful to add in the proficiencies needed in finecraft for a few of the metals, namely brass and copper as those are both commonly used in clockwork engineering!

I assume there are limits to what can be obtained with just Underworld Knowledge outside just material? 20 Underworld manifesting Steel halfplate would be a little cheesy.
