He insights a wisdom of a man of advanced years, eager to share stories of his experiences and to mesmerize and intrigue various parties. To the common stranger he is a man who speaks of the mythical concepts of soul and self. In that sense, he is a both a teacher and a story teller, a fine tuned mix to draw in the interests of many. Though in a deeper sense, Melchior is a driven mind, transfixed on seeing a reality that few will hear uttered. This passion is present to strangers and causes the Qadir to be well respected and looked highly at, even though this passion is routed in selfish desires. Emotions: Melchior is a cautious individual, despite his rather open persona. He is fearful of being both a mage and a Silven, often finding it difficult to cope with being different than others he meets. He is aware of the fates that both lives lead in terms of public perception and the mythos that surround them. Despite these fears, Melchior holds a high pride in his practice of the Arcane and his idealistic preaching of the practice. He is frequently eager to share these views and hopes to raise another to learn this practice before his own life ceases. In another vein, Melchior is transfixed on discovering the secrets to eternal life via Soul Magic and Qadir technology. In his mind, clockwork can sustain the human soul, as witnessed in Construct Magic, but there is no possibility to transfer an outside soul into a golem. It is a driving passion for Melchior, and one that drives his daily life to bring his father back into existence. Family: Melchior is a very personable individual with his close friends and family. He serves as a fatherly figure, wishing for self betterment and encouraging perseverance as one of his many teachings. He sees the educational potential in numerous experiences and will utilize various scenarios for the chance to educate his peers. In terms of his real family, he was mentored by his father, who is now deceased. On the eve of the mans death, Melchior transplanted what he believes to have been the entire soul of his father into a Qatil. In an almost cult like devotion, the Qadir speaks with this Qatil, seeking the guidance his father once provided to him. In that sense, this 'box of life' is his true family, keeping it close to him. Morality: Melchior's morality falls on a grey spectrum due to the nature of his magic school. He sees the soul as a tool more so than an extension of humanity. His occupation as both a Soul Collector and a looter of the battlefield leads him to tread upon cultural issues and the concepts of personal possessions and familial attachments. As such, the way Melchior views the world is that there are tools which are to be used and those who squander them. In a contradiction, Melchior has what is practically the entire soul of his father contained in a Qatil. It is his most prized possessions and his greatest vulnerability, to see his father living again. As such his morality is focused on the advancement of technology to fulfill this purpose. Talents Arcane Arts Melchior possess an extensive education in the practice of Soul Magic, extending it to an almost cult like religion surrounding the soul. Over the course of many years, he has learned all eight spells associated to the school and utilizes them effectively. Presently he wishes to serve as the middle man between the obtaining soul essence and providing them for use in various technologies. Machinist Melchior possesses a basic education with the School of Technology for a very minimal purpose, the creation of Qatils. As a man that is frequently alone, Mechior has deemed it necessary to be as reliant on himself as possible, as such he sought out the knowledge to create and maintain Qatils as to remove a piece of the process and streamline his work. He can be frequently found tinkering on an old Qatil, preferring to keep his equipment running efficiently and repairing it than finding replacing it. Life Story Melchior was born out of the result of a relationship between his father, Assam, and his mother, that being an Arken. On the night of his birth, his father took the boy into his arms, only to see the Arken leave them both. Assam was a nomadic soul mage, selling his knowledge to towns he travelled through along the deserts of Farah'deen. As such, he would take the baby Melchior with him, remaining in one such town until the boy became of age to travel, taking up work as a small time engineer, building Qatils for general use by the population of techmages and engineers. When Melchior became of proper age, that be six years, his father would take him from the town and into the desert plains, partially to return to his way of life, but also to hide the Silver eyed spawn Melchior was. The pair would scavenge the scenes of battles, combing over for material value to sell in each town they would pass. In the cold desert nights, Assam would show Melchior how to maintain Qatils, not yet teaching the boy how to create these technologies, as his age was still young. As the years passed, Assam deemed it necessary to teach Melchior the magics which he utilized. The affinity gifted to Melchior by his mother would prove highly beneficial when training began. The first spell to be learned by Melchior was his Ellon form, which took the shape of a simple hawk, though it possessed talons with more movement, 'the bird of our people' as Assam would refer to the form jokingly. It is also in this time that Melchior would finally be taught to create the Qatils which were to be used later on as he advanced with his learning of Soul Magic. As time went on, Melchior advanced in his practices, though with his fathers advancing age, saw that the deserts could only supply so much wealth to aid ones self. Ultimately, he saw it fit to relocate himself and Assam into a village so that the elder of the two may spend the final years of his life in peace. Melchior would set up a business like his father had done for him when he was born. His father had warned of what silver eyes would mean, and with that notion, Melchior would wrap his head in bandages, serving as a blind companion to his father. Inevitably, old age would succumb Melchior's father as he passed on. The grief stricken Melchior would irrationally use his Haratek spell to capture what he believed was his father's entire soul into a Qatil. It was in that moment that Melchior would seek out whatever knowledge he could attain, wishing to find a way to extend life and bring his father back to the world of the living. The time following this incident was rather drastic and crude for Melchior, he would sail out of Farah'deen, seeking out the wealth that would be required for his project. He would land in the Ceardian continent, presenting himself as a grand wizard of unspeakable knowledge. He would utilize his silver eyes and magics to influence those he would pass by. His time here was brief as he would shift between the courts of colonial rulers, before securing additional funding to sail across to Regalia. It was here that Melchior found a way to both stir influence as well as maintain a practice as a soul mage. As such he would find himself living a scavengers life again, venturing into battlefields to loot for the trinkets and treasures of the deceased and obtaining whatever souls he could collect. On one such battlefield he meets the Kehlen family, convincing them of his influence and not being a simple looter, he enters into their lives, serving as an adviser in hopes that he will be able to attain the knowledge and wealth he will require to bring his father back.
