Received a bunch of complaints from Viridian Knights about Knightly Orders being boring because they aren't allowed to do anything. Decided to work on reworking the Knightly Orders & Schools with the intention to create competition between Knights so that hopefully, the boosts in Proficiency and encouragements to duel and engage in other services besides being a guard or soldier gives the Knights something to do aside from just existing.

Here's a quick list of changes:
  • The Bloodcast School has been reduced to a few paragraphs to pull them in line with the others. They have gained an additional boost to their Proficiencies.
  • The Viridian School has been reduced to a few paragraphs to pull them in line with the others. They are still the same, but have gone back to the easier to follow and old Viridian Code, which is different from the Ehren Code, more of a return to the old appeal.
  • The Villiers-Eclaire School is new, which follows the Code of Goselle, an incredibly Ithanian, aggressive and religious Knightly Code.
  • The School of d'Homme is new, which follows the Code of d'Homme, which is largely based on the Espirit d'Homme of Ithanian males.
  • The School of Thousand Blades is new, which follows the Code of Ehren and focuses on Spiked flails and self-flagellation.
  • The School of the Great Oak is new, which follows the Code of the Great Oak and acts as a non-Unionist Knightly Order focused on less Honor and more dangerous hunting.
  • The School of Darkwald is new, which follows the Code of Great Oak, and is largely about dark & independent Vampire hunting.
  • The School of Pavisa is new, which follows the Code of Ehren and focuses on Crossbow usage & unarmed fighting in heavy armor.
  • The School of Matrais is new, which is a female only school that follows the Code of Ehren and has a strong cultural aspect as well as female bullfighters.
  • The School of Lion Pelt is new, which is a Leutz Knight School of wealthy bling bling bodyguard Knights who wear a white Lion's Pelt over their shoulders and fight with a heavy Axe as opposed to shield and sword.
General summary:
  • Great Variation
  • More Codes of Honor to follow
  • More bonuses
  • Lots of detail for small side-activities.
Will Knightly Orders ever be a thing for non Ailor? Probably not. We consider Knightly Orders to be something unique to Ailor because it fits well with their highly Feudalized society and cultural standards of the Regalian Empire. Knightly Orders, unlike other Combat Schools, compensate for a very strict code of conduct that limits roleplay freedom by off balancing with additional proficiency boosts to encourage a sense of reward for risk. This applies double for the "Gay" Knights and the Female Knights, who are expected to suffer societal ridicule and abuse, and thus receive additional boosts to make that all worth it.

If you would like your character application re-reviewed because of changing Schools, please tag your reviewing staff for a re-review. Unfortunately a re-review is necessary since the schools have radically different Codes of Conduct.

Do Crisis of Kings tournaments count in Bloodcast, as a vast majority of the competitors are not even combat school educated, let alone Knights?

Probably? There's dozens of other combat schools that achieve much of the same thing, just different mixtures of profiencies in cocktails. I didn't really consider how this lore would reflect survival tournaments, but tournaments happen between other schools and orders besides just Knights. Anyone who uses an axe could call themselves a Skagger for example, so there's a lot of leeway.
