Le Mareschal Honor Ton Nom et Trouve La Gloire Honor Thy Name and Find Glory A view of Porte du Paradis, taken outside of the family's restaurant Les Bases Culture: Ithanian Religion: Unionism (Priscelle Sect) Industry: The Mareschals started off as humble farmers but have since become a well known Ithanian name, selling the food and drinks they make not only to others, but in their very own Restaurants located all around Ithania and recently in other lands as well. Under the guidance of the current Matriarch the family has begun to reach out to entertainment services, such as writers, musicians, poets, and the managers of such. Values: Love, loyalty, and creativity. The Mareschals value the bonds they have with each other above all, and will always choose to build up their kin first. They seek to explore and experiment and are encouraged to do so by their house, always at the front of modern changes. House Colors: Cornflower blue, white, and pale gold. Crest: A sparrow in flight, surrounded by thriving grape vines with a small, almost hidden, singular eye at the bottom. White lilies border the sides. L'Histoire The Mareschals’ written history begins with the proud Matron, Lucienne le Mareschal. She and Louis Toussaint joined together in an arranged marriage as the Toussaints made a last ditch attempt to weasel their way out of near poverty. They all moved to the Mareschals’ home, a simple country farm that was just starting to make a name for itself to surrounding neighbors. As they learned more about each other, Lucienne and Louis discovered they both had excellent work ethic and they decided to use their combined minds to find ways to produce only the finest of farm goods. By the time their first born daughter, Fleurine, was old enough to marry, the Mareschals’ had become a household name in nearly all of the surrounding cities. When Fleurine and her own husband, Florence, took over the roles as Matriarch and Homme de Coeur, they worked even harder to become one of the top suppliers of farm fresh goods to markets and restaurants all over Ithania. Fleur’s first born daughter was named Mathilde, and she was the first of the generations to come that grew up experiencing the family's accumulated wealth. Because of this, Mathilde was able to focus on her schooling much more, and she learned a great deal about business and trade. Her and her eventual Homme de Couer, Mathis, were joined together as an arranged power play by their parents. Even so, they made the best of it and were able to expand the Mareschal trade reach to Regalia. Jacinthe and her twin brother Jean were both pushed rather hard as children, but they were also the first of the Mareschals’ to be raised directly by both of their parents, rather than a hired wetnurse or just their father. They grew up being both challenged intellectually and loved wholeheartedly. Jacinthe took quite well to the more business attuned side of things, eventually opening the family’s first restaurant, Le Garçon Féminin’s Taverne, in Havenreach. After the raging success of the Garçon Féminin, Jacinthe worked side by side with her first husband to open up a line of similar restaurants. As of late, the Mareschals’ have a rather nice work-life balance, living in the lap of luxury while running their many eateries from afar. It wasn’t until a Dragon appeared in the Porte du Paradis that they even considered leaving their sprawling mansion. After the deviation, they made the choice to leave Ithania and fully emigrate to Regalia. Now, they seek to build another of their fine dining establishments, and build up a name similar to the one they held in Ithania. Les Atouts The Mareschals’ have enough wealth to live a somewhat flashy, fully comfortable life. They don’t have endless funds, but the Matriarch makes a point about having enough to support her kin’s many endeavors. Some of this wealth has been built up over the last few generations, but all would be lost without Jaci and Alucard’s fine management skills. The family’s main farm is located just outside of Havenreach, and is lovingly called Moineau D'or Acres after the family crests’ icon; the sparrow. Jacthine’s mother eventually had a desire to make their own cheeses on top of producing harvestable crops, so more land was purchased and the Mareschal Ferme Laitière was opened. When Alucard became a respected member of the family, he and Jaci put their combined knowledge together, and built a winery to have under their belts. It was named Vignoble Ciel Bleu after the beautiful skies of Ithania. The family also owns several restaurants, their top earners being in Havenreach and Lumina. La Famillie Being an Ithanian woman with three husbands, there is quite a lot of room for aesthetic freedom, depending on which specific line one comes from. The Matriarch carries strong Mareschal genes though, resulting in pale skin, grey or blue eyes, platinum blonde hair, and taller heights for both men and women. Any child born to the first husband, Alucard, would be a half Altalar. They can look like the Matriarch's line only, or be some mix of her appearance and Alucard's: dark skin, beige eyes, red hair, and pointed ears. Nearly any aesthetic can be made to work, and is not limited to what is listed above. (OOC Note: While a primary Mareschal (any child born to the Matriarch) cannot ever be any full or half blooded beast such as an Asha or Allar, or a less mundane looking race such as an Eronidas or Kathar, any kind of mixed race character can be made to work in some way with a bit of discussion.) Spoiler: Family Members The Matriarch - @JinxisJinxed | Jacinthe le Mareschal (Of the Mareschals’ primary line) is the current head of the family. She is a physically frail woman, but her bark makes up for her lack of bite. She near single-handedly developed the family’s restaurant line, and has an eye for all things business. She loves her family deeply, and wants to provide all that she can for them. The Homme de Coeur - @IGutTheMidasTuch | Alucard le Mareschal-Beaumont is an Ithanian-raised Altalar. He is the Matriarch’s lover of the heart, aptly referred to as her “fire” for the passion he ignites in her. He is a man of many hobbies, though finds the most pleasure when he is doing charity work or interacting with his children. The Eldest Daughter - @Senpah | Gwenaëlle is the eldest daughter of the Matriarch and Homme de Coeur. Gwen deals with a genetic frailness similar to her mother’s, and was thus raised in a very sheltered manner for much of her life. Now that she is in her mid 20s though, she is a mischievous woman with a knack for engineering. The Eldest Son - (Open) | This character has been dubbed “Garnet'', and is the twin brother to Gwen. All else is up for discussion. The Middle Child - @Iridesta | Fleurine le Mareschal-Beaumont is the third born child to Alucard and Jacinthe. She is her mother's daughter through and through, a studious musician and a writer with large ambitions. All that said, she has a certain level of distrust for any outside of the family, and often comes off rather cold. The Wacky Uncle - (Open) | Jean le Mareschal-du Matereoux is the twin brother of Jacinthe. He must look similar to Jaci and be a bit more of a wild card. All else is up for discussion. Other Blood Relatives - (Open) | Up for discussion. Adopted Kin - (Open) | The character cannot be a full blooded Kathar, Asha, Maraya, or Allar. Otherwise, up for discussion. Spoiler: A Note On Husbands On an OOC level, I would prefer it if the two open husband positions were either left as NPC roles, or only filled by close friends if played at all. Spoiler: A Note On The Mundane & Slizzar No character in this family should ICly seek to become affected by an affliction including, but not limited to, Sanguinism and Cahalism. This family aims to be the most basic of humans and nelfin, so the more mundane, the better. Magic is banned within the family’s home, but should be regarded as a more “just don’t let Jacinthe see” type of “rule”. If you wish to play a slizzar, cahal, sanguine, etc. we can probably make it work, but the character in mind should be one that seeks to keep their afflicted/slizzar status a genuine secret.
