Hello Everybody,
As you all know there is only 1 magic trait atm which is the trait "Fireball". This spell consumes magma cream on use(last I checked)
I think that one of the reasons to why there is only 1 spell is because there aren't any items that are suitable for other spells that are as hard to aquire as magma cream.

Personally I would love to see the uses of magic traits in pvp as both support and damage roles.

My suggestion:

I have not made this suggestion based on Lore, I have not read the lore for magic. This suggestion is merely to make magic traits more usable in the survival world until the staff are finished with their own magic plugin.
Instead of making the spells cost a certain amount of an item, make them cost foodlevel and give a short debuff and cooldown upon casting.
This will make for more magic users on the battlefield, however, this would also mean that they would need to have some sort of guard as they will be exposed after casting spells.
Spells could work as following: ( These are only examples for what the spells could look like)

Fireball
Trait cost: +30
Cast cost: 6 foodlevel (3 drumsticks)
Debuff: Resistance -2, 5 sec
Cooldown: 2 sec
Animation: Blaze Fireball
Description: The hit area/target is lit on fire

Frostbolt
Trait cost: +30
Cast cost: 8 foodlevel (4 drumsticks)
Debuff: Weakness 4, 8 sec
Cooldown: 5 sec
Animation: White Firework Trail (if possible?)
Description: The hit target gains slowness 1 for 15 sec

Sacrificial Heal
Trait cost: +75
Cast cost: 10 foodlevel (5 drumsticks)
Debuff: Wither, 30 sec
Cooldown: 10 sec
Animation: Green Firework Trail (if possible)
Description: The hit target gains Regeneration 1 for 20 sec

Explosion
Trait cost: +100
Cast cost: 19 foodlevel (9,5 drumsticks)
Debuff: Resistance -3, weakness 4, nausea, 20 sec
Cooldown: 30 sec
Animation: Ghast Fireball
Description: The fireball explodes when hitting the targeted area or target dealing major damage.

Summary
Adding more spells that are cast by using foodlevel instead of items. This will make it possible to add a larger variety of spells to use and make it possible for implementation in the survival world. The list of spells can be made to include both buffs and debuffs, giving it a variety of unique playstyles.

Issues and solutions
Feed traits: Limited trait points and debuffs on cast along wth spell cooldowns will make this irrelevant.


Please comment your suggestions and criticism in detail so that I may add them to the list of Issues and Solutions, please refrain from single sentence posts about how good or bad this is!

^Literally cancels each other out. (If it happens /afterwards/ then why would you even cast that)

This kinda is pointless in RP, considering most of them aren't exactly Lore compliant. Also, people would spam Explosion, in PvP.

I think its meant to be used to heal your ally, so they wouldn't cancel out, seeing that only the caster gets the wither.
 
This won't happen because that is not how the staff wan magic to be like. They don't want it to be a set in stone command. They wan you to make your own spells by finding magic words. Their is threads based on them somewhere deep in the forums. (They may have been deleted I'm not sure)

The spells are only examples as to how my idea could work. Spamming explosion would not work out well considering that you will need a full food bar, wait for cooldown and then avoid getting killed when you are affected by the debuffs.

Run, eat tons of pumpkin pies/meat. Use it again.

Fireball was only a test, I doubt they'll add more.

Ah.. I thought that was abandoned seeing as they added fireball to the trait system.
